I have to be honest, hiring coaches improved my game dramatically. Yeah i may have gotten there in the end, but having someone to bounce ideas off and talk strat with definitely reduced the learning curve (I v v v rarely spoke to other poker players pre 2011 other than coaches).

I do agree that, for some people, coaching is a fruitless exercise. As a student you really do get out of it what you put in to it.

I think the Stellar bonuses are a good example of what I'd call a "realistic bonus". Almost everyone that plays above the very smallest stakes will be able to achieve at least one Stellar bonus, and once they've cleared one, because the next one is always within reach they will be tempted to keep playing (and depositing) to clear it.

More stuff like that would be good for the games imo. Either improve on the Stellar bonuses, or do something like an instant cash reward for reaching the next VIP level (made up numbers off the top of my head here, but like $20 for reaching Silver, another $30 for Gold etc).

With they money they're currently saving (or stealing from the regs, whatever you prefer) with these changes, they could probably afford to make these smaller bonuses pretty attractive. Plus, even the smallest bonuses are an added extra for the regs anyway.
Posted this in the negotiations thread in the zoo and wondered what you guys think. Does no-one think that it'd be better to redistribute the 'missing' money to recreational players in an intellegent way rather than directly awarding multitabling regs?

Getting more fish in the game is the only true way of improving the quality of games, and I'd be happy to take a hit on VPPs/rakeback if that money was being spent on attracting new players to the tables and keeping them there.

i agree totally ron. I'd love stars to do some amazing bronze star fpp to cash conversion that anyboady could use for any amount at any time of the year. even if you make it a ridic low amount like 0.006c per fpp..... it would generate a ton more $'s at the tables and improve the games a lot.
01-06-2012 , 06:45 AM
Ive been saying for while the cash grab from stars has been on the lower tiers getting more return but it not being actualized to due to their being on lower tiers I have no prblems with wc if they allow bronze stars+ to buy bonuses at the .016 rate combined with targeted bonuses towards people that havent deposotid over x amount of time or redo the stellar rewards if they want to make it more fair make it more fair and let these guys that they are suppsody targeting the changes to get what stars are taking out of it. but **** it how stars has handled it and what they are doing to me at least has proven it jus a striaght cash grab and they have no intention of making it otherwise so **** them
01-06-2012 , 06:53 AM
simply put per thier logic they want to make it more fair but their vip system is inherently tilted to high volume players so fine switch to wc but allow the lower tiers to get the benefits at an equal degree obviiously the higher milestones tourney packages faster fpps would still exist for snes but they are raping the games by not giving back to the lower tiers and just taking from the higher tiers

Yeah we know that's what they're doing. The money that is being taken away from the regs yet not given back to the low volume players is the missing money I'm referring to above.

My whole point is that all the negotiations and demands to Stars from the players are all to do with giving that missing money directly back to the regs in the form of higher VPP multipliers and other such things. I am arguing that it'd be better for all if the missing money was instead used to attract and keep low volume recreational players on the site.

Same here, and from others from what I read.

The script wasn't written by Stars but they endorsed it when Pokerstars Steve started quoting it in his posts and giving detailed instructions on how to use it.

Hi guys, I'm looking for some final support to get sent to go talk with PokerStars about the changes to VIP/Rake.

Right now, I'm the only person that's in the running that plays 100bb NLH. Also, I'm the only guy that's not going there to make demands on what Stars should do. I'm a calm, rational guy, and I will have a much more rational approach to the situation. The other candidates mostly talk about how to manipulate Stars to their benefit. I'm here because I want to talk with Stars about guiding the state of the games to a better spot. That benefits us all, although in a more indirect way.

A few days back, I was originally selected by the full ring players and PokerStars to go to these meetings. You can get an idea of how I think about the situation if you want to take a look here - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...tions-1147161/

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and I'll be happy to get back to you.
