2013-14 PGA Tour thread 2013-14 PGA Tour thread

10-05-2013 , 08:38 PM
With the President's Cup wrapping whenever it stops raining, it's time to start thinking ahead to the next golf season.

No real off-season this year, with the first time the season follows many other North American sports schedules. Regular events beginning in early October, ending in mid-August. Same four FedEx Cup events to end the season, with the Tour Championship finishing it all off on September 14.

FedEx Cup points start accumulating right away from next weekend's Frys.com Open. Ryder Cup points also start from the Frys.com open.

Questions for the new season...

Something something Tiger Woods something major something?
Will Rory McIlroy get back to his winning ways?
Is Anthony Kim still alive?
How can Jordan Spieth follow his ridiculous rookie year?
Can Henrik Stenson continue his incredible run?

Let us golf again.

Why don't we put together a predictions thread so that we can all embarrass ourselves at the end of next season when we look back at our season predictions? Here are some sample questions I can think of off the top of my head to get the ball rolling:

Number of Tiger wins
Number of Tiger majors
Number of Tiger top-10 majors

Number of Phil wins
Number of Phil majors
Number of Phil top-10 majors

Fed-Ex champion
Money leader
Most titles
Player of the Year
Ryder cup winner

Masters winner
US Open winner
British Open winner
PGA winner

Number of titles for Spieth
Number of titles for Rory

Hall of Fame inductee(s)

I think Putnam and Peterson will have incredible years but I don't see anyone doing what Spieth did for quite awhile. I wanna see if Watney returns to form and if Woodland gets over the hump as a top 30 golfer to a top tier.

I like the call on Putnam, who was utterly fantastic on the Web.com, is at the right age to break out, and is already off to a fast start at the Frys.

I wonder how the elite players will treat the Fall events. They were usually an afterthought for some players. But with the full FedEx points and more money, will be interesting to see. A lot of top players skipped this week, wonder if they'll be in Vegas next week?

Spieth and Tiger to win 6/7 tournaments (including two majors probably - one at least) between them.

Ryder Cup going to be close - USA have the better running players atm, but that doesn't stop us.

Hope Rory and Luke get their Mojo back, and that Lee can win a Major, and if not, that Luke or Ian Poulter can find just 4 rounds in themselves also.

Tiger wins 7 times. Maybe some majors. Rory doesn't win anything. Phold has another solid year.

Spieth runs into the sophomore jinx. Tiger has another injury.
