Nope, no idea really. Its getting kicked pretty hard though, the gbp/jpy gap from a couple of weeks back remains unclosed. But I don't have an opinion in terms of direction. Gl, happy ny.

Long some AU gap

I caught a good chunk of the move but did not wait for the remainder of the gap close.

A couple of gap plays from yesterday. As a rule of thumb, you want the gaps to be mostly unsubstantiated. Obviously, these gaps were not the case with the Cyprus news over the weekend. However, with the risk/reward & smaller than normal position size, these were/are solid opportunities.

GU Short Setup

Unfortunately, this level coincided with some significant GBP news releases and was invalidated.

A setup that's on deck right now, EJ. Just barely missed my order a couple hours back. I'll take another shot at a long if it comes down but on reduced size, level will be weaker this time around.

EU gap trade from last weekend closed tonight. I cut the trade short a little early, leaving another 1k on the table. As stated before, my major leak is holding trades to the target. I've made solid progress on this over the last year but it's a constant struggle. I find my mood, minute by minute/day by day has a lot of influence.

Discretionary trading is hard.

I'm a couple bucks shy of my first 2k day, which is great. But days/weeks like this should be 5k-8k/day.

I added some to last week's gap trade on the open today as we had a gap within the gap (Inception anyone?).

I also longed the EJ gap for a close tonight.

Not a forex trader, but I understand forex trades 24 hours a day. Are you referring to gaps between friday close and sunday open or gaps between closes and opens of specific time frames?

Gaps for the most part only occur from Friday close to Sunday open or when a big data point or headline comes out and a currency gaps (say EURUSD is trading 1.30 and then a headline saying Italy will default on its debt, EURUSD would gap to probably 1.25 with very little traded in between). It's not an actual gap in the sense there is a big open space on a candle chart but it is effectively a gap.

What are your thoughts on social trading platforms like zulutrade?

Specifically, do you believe successful proven traders use these sites, or are all of the winning signal providers simply marketing their "systems" to reap follower commissions?

If this is the case, then I would think there's huge profit potential in picking and following a diversified group of successful traders, if such traders even exist on these sites.
One would not need the TA expertise, but rather an entirely different (and easier to master?) skillset of following, managing, and monitoring winning traders.

I haven't looked into Zulu/like platforms much but I assume there are a couple of knockout traders and the rest are one shot wonders on some run good.

I keep going back to the basic thought that solid traders will usually chose to build their bankroll themselves without outside input.

I'm sure you can research carefully and find a decent trader on Zulu/like platforms...I'm just personally adverse to this lack of control, lack of knowing what's really going on, etc.

Compared to poker/2+2, if you're looking to get into horses/backing a player, you have years of stats, relationships, quality reputations...I just don't think Zulu provides that.
