When changing residence to another country, what documentation has the poker sites asked for as proof of move? I have bank account, residential address, lease for residence. Do I need anything else to show proof? What do they typically ask for to see?

Typically, they can see your IP address, and hence, your physical location. Ive heard a Proxy server would do the trick, but thats all I know, at the moment.

I have heard of the sites requesting players to fax documentation to the sites to show proof of address and residency. What kind of documents are typically requested?

IP address isn't enough.

Thank you for your cashout request. Due to the large amount of your cashout, we are required to ask that you provide some documentation to verify your identity and location. We ask that you please provide the following:

1. a copy of a valid, government issued, photo ID
2. a copy of a recent utility bill clearly showing your full name, current address and statement date (no older than 3 months). In lieu of a utility bill, we will accept a phone bill, bank statement, payslip or insurance bill which includes your full name, current address and statement date. Please note, we will not be able to accept personal letters.

So you need a government ID from the new country, or is a USA passport still ok for 1)?

The ID is just to verify your identity, as far as I know.

Hello.

I will be back at my UK residence for the immediate future.

Please update my Stars account with my UK details.

(You already have my UK address and UK documents on file, but I am including them here again)

Attached is a copy of my passport, and a recent letter from my credit card company verifying my home address.

I am not a US citizen. I am a citizen of the UK only.

I am residing in the UK.

Please update my Pokerstars account with my UK address to reflect this.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST THEN PLEASE ELEVATE THIS E-MAIL TO A SUPERVISOR.

I have changed my country location more than once in the past, as I have moved between my residences in the US and the UK.

I am a professional high-volume, three-time SNE, poker player whose income and livelihood revolves around being able to play poker.

(I don't wish to cash out so please stop telling me that I am able to do that.)

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST THEN PLEASE ELEVATE THIS E-MAIL TO A SUPERVISOR.

It is of the utmost urgency that I am able to get this issue resolved ASAP. Given the breaking news today, if there are matters beyond your control preventing you from making these changes, then I'd appreciate a brief explanation, rather than your unhelpful- and somwhat rude- blunt responses. E.g. If you can't update my account now, then is it likely you can assist in the immediate future?

Thanks
XXXXXXXXXX

So can you please confirm for me that no non-US citizens who move out of the US are currently able to have their registered address changed?

Thanks.

(I didn't see this thread before starting one.)

From my own experience, Stars don't seem to be allowing players to change their registered country of residence:

They aren't allowing any changes of address. Are you actually allowed to cash out? I heard they banned all cash outs, including non-US players.

thats dumb. especially with your specific case. you think they would give you some extra support being SNE and all...

times like these Stars should hire mad temp workers to deal with all this nonsense...

Wendy was the same rep who e-mailed me. I hope they free up the money to those who can prove they live outside the US.

He didn't say they weren't going to change his country. They said they aren't going to change it AT THIS TIME. I don't see what the big deal is.

Give them a few days to get together and figure out how they are going to handle such situations. It would make sense that with their very sudden policy booting all Americans off the tables they would put a freeze on country changes while they get their stuff together and figure all this out.

You stand a good chance of being completely fine for all of this....whereas all the U.S. players will be waiting a REALLY long time to get to play on Stars again...if ever.

Obv legally they cannot allow changes, what would be the point of prohibiting US players if anyone could just change their account details.

People who play for a living have my sympathy. All of us deserve better from our government.

I think the same thing, their lawyers have not told them yet as to what they can/should and what they shouldn't do presently

thank god am canadian; not that I have all that much cash in my PS account

it would really suck if someone from the US has won a huge tourney the last few days and now his cash is sitting in no mans land

yes sir, and everyone thought things were going to be so much better when obama won LOL

good luck to us all; hope none of us lose our cash, if A holes like howard lederer and others get the brunt of the bad things then am very happy

lol.... did you really expect different treatment?

DoJ rains fiery hell down on stars, support explodes as every single player tries to withdraw six times and sends three e-mails, and you send the most obvious angle shoot ever, a sudden address change.

I get that in your specific case it's not actually an angle shot, but come on now... from supports perspective, that must be exactly what it looks like.

Then when you don't get the response you want, you badger them for sensitive information that there's just no way they're going to give out.

As a guy who is in exactly the same position (I'm not currently in the US but my poker account is linked to US info) I'll let you know: We all got screwed by this. You are not special. Wait for a resolution like the rest of us, and stop expecting special treatment.

Either that, or continue your current trend by, for example, finding a burning building, running inside, and then yelling at the secretary that she needs to stamp your parking ticket.

If I had known this bs was going down, I would have stayed playing live poker in PA at Parx Casino or at Bally's in AC. I made the trip home cause the weekend hotel rates are throught the roof,,,,,,still, now I am stuck with nothing to do. And I have a huge bankroll on both Stars and FTP,,,which is also lost. The only good I see coming from this is that the fish that play at FTP and Poker STars will have to drive to the Casinos for the action, except the Casinos are going to raise room rates and there will be more competition for poker room rates, so its all going to be bad for the industry.

OP,

The way things seem, the DOJ is looking to burn Stars to the ground.

Not just for US players but for everyone in the world. The DOJ is looking to arrest Isai, criminalize him, put multiple charges on him.

Each charge carries a heavy fine along with jail time.

Firstly, "Badgering" is often the only way to get a satisfactory solution to a problem, unless you prefer to receive a "cookie cutter" response that often has no relevance to the question you asked, and a post-script notifying you of some crappy refer-a-friend bonus that you couldn't give a f*ck about.

Secondly, I'm not expecting special treatment.

And finally, I am special. My mum told me.

Yeah, but what sort of thread heading would this be: "Stars are not Allowing Players to Change their Registered Country of Residence at this time but you may be able to do so tomorrow, or later in the week"
