Got one final hour session in for the weekend and nothing went right. Had about 6 pairs between 99-JJ to only see 2 overs on flop vs lots of action. Bleed away half a buyin on those alone then called AKo vs 40bb button open shove vs 88. Flopped 2 pair but lost to river 8. Bankroll is at $800. On 3 BI downswing but I'm up 2 BI from coming back thus far in about 6-7 hours of play. I need to keep my eye on the prize and not let the daily wins/losses affect me. I think I'm only slightly more concerned at the moment as I'm on a short roll but I'm doing well with my stop losses and such and once I can crack the 1.3 or 1.5k mark, I'll have more of a cushion and comfort zone. Hope everyone enjoys the remainder of the weekend.

December.... my favorite month! Not only is it my birthday, it's also Christmas and the holidays which means great food, family, friends, and time off work! It also means a lot of time for me to achieve my poker goals. The goal for December is to put enough volume in that I can achieve a 20 BI bankroll, so that I can finally start to grind monthly for disposable income while moving up gradually.

My December goals are as follows:
- Play 15,000 hands.
- Continue to try to play my "A Games" at all times and work through rationale when sensing tilt.
-Focus on a tight, solid, lower variance game plan.
- Try to mix in warm up/cool down with each session.
-Build momentum!
-Finally update this thread with stats and graphs 5x this month at min!

It's short, simple, and should be a lot of work but I'll have 2 weeks off work this month. Therefore, as this is my "BIG" month for this challenge, I'm willing to move down to $50nl for a few sessions if needed. The main key is that I leave myself enough of a bankroll to assure I have the funds to grind during the time off work near the end of the year.

December Starting Bankroll: $800
Dec 1st
Played 1-1.5 hour session at 100nl. I played pretty tight for the most part, folding trouble hands that just don't flop well (AJo vs EP open, etc). I didn't run the greatest and I lost one flip AI on the flop when I def a SB 3b from BU with AJdd...I raised his cbet on 953dd and he shoved with JJ and held. I don't mind my play here as I just as easily could have 2 overs + NFD and I have fold equity as he cbets here a ton.

Then near the end of my session I started to tilt out of my mind vs bad nit.
I also lost with AA at end of session when I 3b a bad utg open large to $14 and got called x/c on 68Tcc flop and x down on 9h, Jc vs 77. I was lightly steaming due to bad plays being rewarded and I had to quickly inject logic.

Then on my last orbit (I always seem to run bad in last orbits) the same player limped 44 on BU after another shortie limps. I lead 4A7ss flop, shortie calls, BU raises, both call. Turn T...goes x,x, bet, c, c. river J... I check to call his shove and he obv has the set. UGH!

On a positive note, I think I handled the swings well this session and regained focus after losses rather quickly. (up until last orbit). I've been subconsciously injecting logic, which shows that my mental game is improving and it's starting to sink into my unconscious level. I also did a great job at extracting value by cbetting thin 2 hands as well.

Overall -1 buyin.

BR - $700. May move down to $50nl tomorrow for a session.

Played a session yesterday and while I ran very hot (AA 4-5 times) and flopped sets 4-5 times, I ran well vs all the wrong stacks! Despite this hot run, I only managed to pick up a buyin. Today's session was brutal for me on so many levels. The games today played very fishy, which I sometimes struggle with when everyone is calling anything. In reality I should enjoy this as it's ultimately how we make money. In the short term, I know it's my vice so I could change tables if a specific table is irritating me.

I started my session up almost a buyin across all 4 tables combined and then quickly it turned downhill. I had a bad player who started playing aggro and I made a move on him on the river with A high on a 55499 board where he ended up having QQ. It was a high variance play that I'm trying to avoid and I messed up there. 2 hands later, he opened the BU to 4, SB called, and I made it $20 with KK. Both players called only to see a 2T4r flop and the SB shoved AI for $75 into $60. I called to see his K2o only to see the 2 fall on the turn. After this beat, I started to feel tilty and tried to regain focus. A few hands later, I flopped TP + FD + Gutter and got it on on the turn when I hit trips only to be up again a flopped set for a turned FH. Overall, my session was extremely frustrating and I had several other hands where nothing went my way.

I need to refocus on being aware of each table and tighten up accordingly. Of all my tables, I was down the most on this one and when I looked at my stats it was insanely high vpip/pfr which goes to show I'm playing too many hands as a by product of taking battles personal. Today wasn't my day and a lot can be learned. The end result is making the best decision and moving onto the next hand as the results will come over time. I think my minds been too focused on short term results as I'll go on a 4 BI downswing and it'll feel like it takes forever to get back to that point, mainly bc variance hasn't been kind lately. In reality, this thinking is beyond dumb as I know my hourly and should only focus on the hours and the swings will come and go.

Today - 1.5-2BI
BR - Around $600.

I may not play tomorrow due to some activities planned with the GF so it'll be good to take a quick day break and refocus Friday, as it'll be a long month of grinding! I may hop back to 50nl for a few sessions until I get some momentum in order to protect the BR.

Also not sure if you're doing this, but table selection is very important. If you don't have a passive fish on the table, just leave and fine a new table that's what I usually do.

I probably could improve on this but generally take for granted bc SSNL games aren't difficult by nature. I need to remove ego vs fish and realize they will call 20x raises and that I'll miss at times.

I only tend to have this issue when I'm playing a little shorter on my buyins as every loss hurt . This is the risk I'm taking tho to get a roll at 100nl fast as possible due to my limited playing time. I've beaten up to 400nl long term over large sample so its simply a matter of adjusting to SSNL comfortably playing part time. In the past I could put in serious volume daily so swings didn't bother me vs now when any swings are slower and longer to recover due to limited volume.

have you ran 120bi under ev in a year?

I made fun of people when i ran normal during my first 7 years

One day you'll see when you can't win with AA on Axx dry boards every single day for months

I haven't updated in several days for a variety of reasons. Mainly, I haven't played much at all due to life obligations and secondly bc the thread doesn't get much interaction or traction so it's hard to keep it motivated.

I've played a few sessions this month without much traction. I was up about $200 on the month and my adjusted EV has been around $600 which shows I haven't been running the greatest. I've been playing pretty snug and just grinding along, knowing I'll be putting in long sessions and major volume at the end of the month.

I started to play a session today that quickly went south. I started out picking up QQ and KK about 5-6 times in the first 15 hands or so and got no action on any. I then had 3 unfortunate hands in a row, 1 which I could have gotten away from.

Hand 1: Bu opens, I 3b. I cbet QTx flop with AK, he flots. get all in on J turn vs JJ only to have the T spike river.

Hand 2: Limped Pot, I iso AKdd from bb.. 2 callers. I lead A27r flop, get one call from the limper. turn K...I lead and get raised and call. I x/c river 9 shove and he shows up with 22.

Hand 3: Same villain has hand 2 and is a few hands later. He opens MP to 3, button calls , I make it $17 from bb with AKhh. MP calls. Flop QsTh4c...I cbet and he calls. Turn 5h and I jam picking up the extra outs only to have AQo snap me.

Overall a brutal session and working on not tilting and learning to accept the realities of poker. I can feel myself getting built up due to running badly and having bad players coming up on the right side vs me. Seems like anytime I try to make a move or raise for value, I get smacked in the face with a repopped. Could be getting outplayed or could be facing top of players ranges but I need to worry about long term and what I can control. .

I hope to post some graphs and hands once I find some free time, hopefully this weekend.
