Background: Played for like ~year, 2 years ago. Was a winner, but failed hard because of work habits. Quit basically cause I hated learning/working hard, up until now where uni actually taught me results are usually proportional to working hard

I'm a full time engineering student, so have a huge workload. One of the challenges will be time management.

At the $60s at the moment, and will grind up to at least $7.5k + feeling comfortable until moving up to $100s+

I'll be trying my best, and honestly think this should be achievable. Will update ~weekly w/ titles "*Update X". gogo 2012!

Maybe you can talk a bit more about your mentality before and after university? I think it's one of the most important things (hard work) that people tend to discount when struggling/bitching about bad stretches.

I was in first year (2009) when I first started playing. Straight out of HS I had the worst work habits -- I didn't go to any classes/do any hw and eventually caused me to delay at least a year in graduating because of failed classes. At the same time I was playing poker casually, with the mindset "as long as I play, I'll eventually move up and crush 100s ezgame"

Well that obviously didn't work out.. even though I could beat the game, I did not work on my game, didn't give effort putting volume in, etc. I knew there was a lot of information/tools out there for me to improve, but I was just lazy.

I eventually quit because I thought it just wasn't for me. I did play on and off, but had the same problems w/ work habits.

So in 2010, I had a super degen year with only a few failed courses/electives. I didn't work, or do anything productive. I played SC2 and HoN 24/7 for the whole school year.. nothing much more.

Fast forward to this September. I haven't touched poker for a while and never thought I'd come back to it. Having a full engineering course load, I finally experienced "hard work". TBH I've never worked hard in my life, and I've never succeeded at anything past being "good". And then one day in November while playing HoN.. I just realized wtf am I doing wasting my time? I can do all the proj/labs/tests school throws at me, if I put as much effort into something useful, I can obv succeed.

- degen'd for a year doing nothing but gaming/taking a couple classes
- full course load, was v positive w/ school and learned a couple things about life (hard work mainly)

Another v important thing for me was just time management. I used to always think "I don't have time for it", but honestly it's just an excuse. I've already put in my biggest volume month this month, while studying for all my finals/going out.

thanks guys gonna have a super low volume week unfortunately.. going snowboarding tues-fri, and xmas is sunday.

i have 15xx games played this month, gonna just aim for 2k/a bit over 2k. and prob looking at ~2k/month on avg after that, since i single table and play slow as ****

Notes: Running like Jesus obv.. like 20+ BI above ev Not the greatest volume week but ~500 games w/ 3 days away + Christmas is more than I expected. Played alright, not completely satisfied at the moment though. Feel like I have quite a few leaks.

Edit: don't know how I forgot to mention, I had like 3 ~1k/1k+ days.. pretty huge for me this week was clearly the biggest week I've had.

BR is at like $7.7k, can start taking shots at 100s any time.. but gonna hold back until I'm feeling good. Kind of a nit.

Hope to put in 500+ games next week. Should be v doable.. clear schedule!
