Ladies and gentlemen, SouthEast Asia is up next.

I will be trying out Cambodia first, as it seems to be the easiest transition for a newbie expat, but eventually Thailand and Vietnam may be options as well. I have been following the "Living in Cambodia" http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/92...g-pro-1012093/ thread since last year, and it has been stuck near the forefront of my mind. I have been re-reading the posts from the last couple of years in the thread and taking notes on all the current relevant information. I am mentally prepared for the move, now I just need the money.

I have planned a budget to last me 3-5 months. If I am able to grind out an income then this could go on for years. The general consensus in the Cambo thread is that monthly expenses range from $600-$1,000, depending on your lifestyle. The lower-end consists of a modest one-room apartment ($200-$300 with utilities), conservative eating, a minimum amount of drinking and nightlife.

- monthly expenses for 3 months (high-end) or 5 (more modest) $3,000

- flight to NYC/LA ($135/$125)
- flight to Bangkok-Phnom Penh/direct to PP ($355/$410)
- 6-month business visa ($160)
- total travel expenses: NYC ($490), LA ($535) $700

- poker bankroll (whatever extra I can scrape together)

Trip Goal: $4,000

I would like to arrive in September or October before the busy High-Season begins in November/December.

Monthly Goals (starting in May): $800

I always watch the sunset on the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. I never understood why the New Year and Christmas occur in the winter. It makes more sense to me to have events like that in the summer. The winter is cold, dead and so depressing; I hate it.

I couldn’t play a few days this week bc I left behind my laptop charger, and had to buy a new one off Amazon for $25.

At a minimum I want to put in at least 40 hours per week, and would like to shoot for 50.

Several years ago I introduced chickens at my parent's house. While I was away they restocked some baby chicks.

A few days old.

One week.

This was the first of two weeks were Ignition pulled off all of the DONs from the site, and threw my poker world into chaos. Just playing hypers I can run really hot or cold, while adding DONs to the mix does a good job of stabilizing my weekly variance.

I withdrew towards my monthly nut. I am paying my parents $200/month for rent. I’m getting rid of my cell phone service and car insurance, so I no longer have any bills. I try and eat as cheaply as I can tolerate.

Question: Why is it that your online results thus far are so incompatible with your live results, when (even by your own admission) the live game is so much easier?

To clarify that statement I have never been an online cash-game grinder. I believe I stated just that low-limit Live players are awful. In their own right the American SNG donks are relatively as bad as the Live fish. They are almost always way too tight or loose, and their ICM decision-making is atrocious.

VOLUME, VARIANCE and RAKE.

I think that 120 live hours is an irrelevant sample-size in determining anything remotely close to an actual win-rate. I essentially started off on a 10 buy-in downswing, which I was told is a normal thing to happen for even solid winning players. Rake was also a problem.

I have been planning on writing a piece about the viability of grinding 1/2 LOL-Live.

I read the first two posts so far, and can't wait to catch up! I've been there, sleeping in my car. But with a 60lb dog in a Mazda 3! It's tough, but it's a great adventure too. You're a trucker at heart, so it'll be a breeze. Have fun and GL!

Also...thanks for this. Wow.

I'm headed in a different direction now, but it is still a backup plan. If I go that route again, I would prob ditch my car and remodel an older cargo van. You can find van living videos on YouTube. They are close to being just like studio apartments.

I am happy to be able to share some of my passions with ya’ll. In order: mystique of the universe, nature (including animals), history, food, women (particularly sugar-holes and breasts), strategy games (inc. poker), travel and sports (especially basketball and American football).

Updating this thread has done wonders for my focus and perception, so I will keep doing so. This is my third stint at trying to be a poker “pro”. The other two times were between “normal” jobs, and after a couple months I got distracted while moving on to something else.

It is July now, and my current poker go-around has entered a record third month with no signs of slowing down. At the end of June I logged back-to-back 50-hour weeks. Volume is more impressive to me than profit. You can teach a monkey to play ABC poker, but you can’t stop him from getting bored or distracted with “bananas”.

For some reason my brain has a curious obsession with the SNG min-raise, push-fold, call-off game. Until that wears off, I am gonna ride this momentum to hopefully the Orient and whatever develops after that.

While I was gone my mom adopted a new 1.5 yo dog. His first owners were getting rid of him on Facebook after the birth of their first child.

He is still high-energy and loves to be outside. He is very fast, seems to have an above-average sense of smell and likes to chase anything from small vermin up to deer. By his own choosing, he likes to spend long periods isolated in the room with his sleeping kennel. Weight is 70 lbs.

Reader FREEROLL

I want to play a game with anyone who wants to participate. The game will revolve around the breed of the dog in the previous post. The dog is supposedly an exact 50-50 mix, but I suspect the information may be inaccurate. I sent in a DNA test, and those results that I post will determine the winners.

Here is how to play:

1. Post your two picks of the potential breeds. Try and be specific, no generic names.

2. First-come first-serve, no exact duplicate picks. For Example: Poster A chooses Poodle/Beagle, Poster B cannot replicate but may choose Beagle/Greyhound.

3. The dog may have several, but I will be basing winners off of the two highest-percentage breeds.

4. $50 for the entry with the exact correct two breeds.

5. $20 for the first two entries w/ one unique correct breed, if there is no grand prize winner.

6. $15 if one of your picks is a surprise 3rd highest % breed.

7. Winning are only able to be sent via PayPal. If your country charges me a fee, it will come off of your end.

Contest is now open and closes Sunday July, 23rd.

If I'm right or partly right please donate my win to your local shelter or the ASPCA.

Had a fun heads-up matchup, as we both had some room to play starting off with just under 20bb each.

I started to get short, called AI 55>A4o

He was now short, I shoved AI Q9s<JJ

I was really short, shoved AI 107o>K6o

I got back to even and then this happened:

PRE- He was mostly allowing me to limp my bottom shoving range vs him, thus lowering my variance. I like to do this when I have a little room to play post-flop vs a lesser-skilled villain.

FLOP- I led with a min-bet bc I felt he was floating way too much, otherwise he doesn’t have a lot of equity to call us with. We would be hoping he has most of his 10x, lower flush-draws and a couple of gut-shots. He was shoving over the top of my limps around 20%, so he doesn’t have any Ax, pairs, or much Kx.

TURN- I checked back wanting to allow him to bluff the river, which he was doing w/ a reckless abandon. He has such a small value range here and we have the virtual nuts so I want to let him catch something or bluff.

RIVER- He leads out, as expected. Now a few hands before this I typed in the chat (I hadn’t been to an Ignition final table since last year, and was surprised the chatbox was no longer blocked) “you bluff too much”. This played into my decision to raise AI, thinking I might even get hero-called by as low as Qx. Plus a shove looks bluffier than a min-raise. I remember thinking, GEEZ I hope he slow-played a baby-KING.

I have been watching the WSOP Main Event coverage while I grind this week. I think it’s awesome that almost the entire tournament is being streamed. Having the 3rd largest field ever is a great sign for the current health of the game, there is still money to be made boys.

So seeing all of these deep-stack poker hands during the early stages of the ME, has me itching to play some DS poker myself. I don’t get to play like this in my online formats, so I think it would be refreshing to take a day off. The local casino upped their $1/2 max buy-in to $400, so I think there may actually be decent enough leg-room to beat the rake. My daily online buy-ins have really gotten up there, like $2,000 per-day, so I don’t think setting aside $400 to play some LOL-Live will be that big of a deal.

I am SO ****ing TILTED right now. I withdrew $1k from my Ignition account to BTC, and the POS crashes from $2400 to $2000 overnight.

SWEET, I just lost $200!!!

This is like the ALL-TIME record for a Bitcoin downward move, so it is just my luck that I timed it up perfectly with a huge withdrawal. I can easily deal with losing that on the poker table but from my payment processor, F#CK THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Next time I’m taking the snail-mail check!

So if you have never tried an ergonomic mouse, do yourself a favor and get one. I bought one for the first time last week, and it has me wondering what the numb-nuts were thinking when they designed the original awkward mouse.
