I must have been infected by the Pokercast because I've been enjoying watching the playoffs despite knowing almost nothing about hockey and not having watched a single regular season game.

Loving the Spittin' Chicklets podcast Adam mentioned a couple of episodes back.

I just binge watched a series called 'Pretty Good' on YouTube. It's on both Jon Bois and SB Nation's channels. The mixture of sports fandom, advanced stats (sometimes) and great storytelling (always) is super entertaining. There's a poker episode that's OK, but stories like the one on Dae Sung Koo are just fantastic.

Oh man thanks for this, binging it now

The latest season of 'Line of Duty' just finished on the BBC in the UK.
If you have a chance to watch it, get on it and enjoy the ride.

SAMURAI GOURMET on Netflix. Hard to describe without making it sound like a really stupid show. Recommended to fans of 70s kung fu movies and Anthony Bourdain.

NOT a cooking competition show!

If you can't make it to the WSOP this year, check out Colson Whitehead's book "The Noble Hustle: Poker, Beef Jerky, and Death." Specifically, listen to the audiobook read by the author. He's hilariously entertaining, if a little rambling. I just made it to the TChan cameo Which solidly ink this as a Favourite Thing. It clocks in at just under six and a half hours, which for my money (free via the public library), is a good amount of entertainment. Get a taste of it here: http://grantland.com/features/parts-1-4/

This is a few years old now, but Complex had a series on YouTube called Magnum Opus where they tell the stories of some seminal rap songs, including history, production, music videos, samples, etc. If PokercastRoss hasn't seen this yet, he'll be all over it. In fact, I better make sure he hasn't posted it to this thread already. OK, he hasn't. GO! Magnum Opus

ESPN have recently started doing 30for30 as a podcast series.
They've had 3 episodes so far and next week it's all about Phil Ivey.

Revisionist History podcast from Malcolm Gladwell just started season 2. Short episodes looking at a historical/social events from a different perspective. Highly recommend it.

Rosco, you definitely need to check out the podcast 'Mogul'

It covers the life and death of Chris Lighty, who managed some of the biggest names in hip hop.

As a fellow hip hop fan it'll be greatly enjoyed. Actually found out about it when the hosts of crime town recommended it in one of their episodes.

It's my current favourite thing.

Favourite things from the latest podcast (#470):

ASchwartz - 'Scriptnotes' podcast

TChan - Primal Kitchen salad dressing made with avocado oil

Ross - TV Show 'Silicon Valley'

I couldn't listen to Scriptnotes after about a year.

It was amusing that someone sent in the script for Tideland.

For those who don't venture far from NVG and the Pokercast threads, give this thread a read in Sports.

Ungentlemanly conduct on the field of play draft

I'm sure Adam will enjoy it.

uh these guys are idiots, clear number one still on the board. Nothing is better than Canada/Russia junior hockey brawl.

Wow. I'd never seen that before.

This is the pick I'd have as #1. It still makes me wince to watch...

I remember a few headbutts to the face with a helmut.

Wait, a dislocated shoulder is the worst thing you've ever seen?

He COULD have broken his neck, pretty much like every play ever
09-03-2017 , 08:42 PM
He got away with just the shoulder.
They tried to break his neck. Pure and simple.
I've seen it happen with unintentional spears, but this was two guys premeditated.

Terry Butcher is clearly the #1 pick in a draft of sports injuries

Blue Planet II started on the BBC last night.
Once again, stunning visuals complemented by the soothing voice of the legend that is David Attenborough.

I don't know what we will do as a species when he passes.

It's got a bird-eating fish in it. Think about that for a moment. A fish that catches a bird.

My favourite thing this week is playing PLO vs. Ross, getting it in on the turn with ~10%, then smashing the river to win a 400bb pot. Ya, that has to be it

JP Sears - The Bitcoin Episode - Hilarious given the recent Bitcoin talk on the show. Ross please please please pull some drops from this to use every time TChan talks about Bitcoin
