I think it would be more transparent if the rules stated that an entry could contain 9 or 10 players totaling 1,500. Otherwise why have the rule that all entries must have 10 entries?

I hope everyone has access to this. It's not fancy like a spreadsheet. The teams are in ASCII order with the players ranked from best to worst.
If you notice anyone with 0 points and you know for a fact that they cashed (except in #2 or #10) then let me know. Probably our spelling of the name differs from the WSOP.com spelling.
Can't access. Clicked the box to ask for access and got the following message:

"Your request for access has been sent.

You will receive an email if and when your request is approved."

30 minutes later, no email as yet.

Yeah. I didn't realize there was the option to run with 9 players instead. I see that technically the rules did allow it, so no foul, but the rules could be more explicit in that way.

Usually in a salary cap fantasy game like this, you simply must have the X number of players to have a valid team.

In my super-qualified opinion, as someone who wastes way too much time playing fantasy sports, in the future I'd recommend either let people take as many players as they want under the cap (3? 10? 15? 20? go for it) or require exactly 10. The middle ground is kind of weird.

And the Christopher/Chris George situation?

There is no option for 9 players.

The guy submitted a team of 10 players and was over budget.

I messaged him to change it and he didn't get back to me and so I removed a player from his team as a penalty.

Not a player of his choice, a player of my choice. He did not pick a team of 9 players.

C'mon guys. Xander's putting a lot of effort into this. Let's not get on his back.

I'll preface my remarks by saying I think this was an honest mistake and not an attempt to angle.

That being said, there is a loophole that could be exploited by doing just what he did.

According to rule #10:

"10. I will do my best to spot instances of exceeded salaries and give you a chance to correct it. If I notice and inform you that you need to make a change at least 24 hours before the registration deadline then you will have until the registration deadline to make the change (15:00 pacific time 30th May). If I notice and inform you that you need to make a change less than 24 hours before the registration deadline, but before the start of the first open event then you will have until the start of the first open event to make the change (15:00 pacific time 31st May). If you miss your deadline to change a player then you will have until 15:00 pacific time 1st June to select a player/players to remove from your team to fit within the salary cap. If you miss this deadline then I will select the fewest amount of players necessary to make your team valid. If you want to know more about what players I will pick to remove then just ask me and I'll happily explain my unbiased methods in detail."

Someone wanting to angle, could submit a team of 9 that adds up to 1500 and then add a 10th player for 109 points. Making sure none of his other players are set at 109 points he would know that the 10th man will be the one that is removed, as that will be "removing the fewest amount of players necessary to make the team valid".

In effect you could have a 9 man team with a salary cap of 1500.

Perhaps next year you should simply void a team that violates the rules and refund the player's money. Then there would be no question as to the player's intent and everyone would be held to the same parameters.

I hesitated to even comment on the situation because I appreciate you're running the contest and hate to have you put up with petty complaints. I just feel that those who screw up their submission, whether intentionally or not, should have that submission voided.
06-10-2017 , 06:50 PM
I agree that it could be used as an angle and that also it's not an angle this time.

For next year the rule will be that if you send in a team over budget then I'll remove players to get down to 1425.

There are 8 Chris/Christopher Georges on Hendon Mob. All would have cost 75 except Chris George (NY). Since everyone who took Christopher George paid the 138 points and not 75, they all selected Chris George (NY).
I'll correct the name and rerun the stats.

In one of Daniel's vlogs he said he spoke to someone about how tag team POY points would be awarded. He was told points would be based on ROI and split by the number of partners.

He said he was fine with the points being split but thought entry fee should be adjusted too.

The team entry fee was $10,000 and they each were credited with earning only 2.9 times their buy-in as a prize (each team member got $29,000). He felt it would be more fair if their ROI was based on each member's cost of $2500 returning $29,000 (11.6 times buy-in).

Perhaps they will take that into account eventually.

I also had another question. I believe only "open" events are included so points earned in the Employees, Seniors, Super Seniors, and Ladies events will not count in our contest. Is that correct? Are there any other "closed" events?

Ah, a perfect solution. No voided submissions and potential abuse avoided.

Hope I didn't come off that way. I just want to help preempt people getting on his back in the future. If a 9/$1500 team cashed, he would hear about it

The 1425 cap solution is perfect. No way to take advantage of the loophole next time.

Thanks to xander and all the others putting in legwork.

I think Daniel is a little confused. The entry fee was not split. The payout was not split. Only the points are split. They calculate as if there was only one person playing. Then they split those points 2 3 or 4 ways. This is perfectly fair because whether you have 1 person playing or 100, the accomplishment is the same. Therefore the points (unsplit) is the true worth of what these people did. Then, everyone takes their share of the points.
There is no points based on ROI - if you use their calculator, you can see that even if someone loses money they still get points.

I imagine the the 25k whatsapp group has been quite active since DNegs team took so many points. He played the system very well.

Someone asked about Tom/Thomas Hall. Everybody paid 85 for Tom Hall. Thomas Hall from Shrewsbury would be the only one that didn't cost 75. However, Hendon Mob shows two Tom/Thomas Hall's from Shrewsbury. But if you click on the name "Thomas Hall" (27th in Colossus) you get someone with 8 lifetime cashes. That must be the 85 point Tom Hall. Corrected. Should show up with the next update.

Yes, I was originally going to have Tom Hall in my team.

The other 'known' Tom Hall is the one who plays the hi rollers in Macau.

So Atrain is winning despite having picked Chainsaw.
I refuse to believe the eventual winner will have picked him.

Sitting in 13th place as of now. 1 in milly maker Bryce Yockey
I got 3 still left in $1500 8-game
ODB, David Levi, randy Ohel.
Cant believe Im the only one who took Ohel.
Has 5 cashes so far he is pretty tough.
