Listening from Cincinnati, Ohio. Spend a good amount of time driving everyday for work and love passing the time with your podcast. Would also like to say that the WSOP prep talks have been great and very helpful.

Any advice for someone who will be playing the Main Event for the first time this summer? I won a seat at my local casino while playing cash and have never played a tournament with this large of a buyin. Links to threads or other educational material would be greatly appreciated.

Keep up the good work!

I made day 2 of a local £200 competition this weekend, which will recommence tomorrow. There are 47 players left including Paul Newey and I'm hoping that posting here gets me a bit of Pokercast Karma.

Love the show. Keep up the great work Adam, Terrence and Ross.
Was sat next to Paul Newey for part of the day. Ended up 13th for £600 and then jumped into the £50 4-5-6 PLO and came 4th for another £450. Pretty good day profit wise since I'd satellited into the £200 tournament for £40.

Been listening from melbourne religiously since MJ left (pure coincidence btw).
Nearly 50 and been playing exactly 3 years now. Oh how I wish I started earlier! Am originally from London and have lived in Melbourne for 15 years thanks to my aussie wife.

After starting in my local pub league I have now progressed to the live cash games at the easily accessible crown casino where the $2/4 is my preferred game...... Atm. $5/5 is I feel not too far away....... Maybe
Mainly listen in the car and really enjoy it all but I do particularly like hearing about Ross's exploits as although I only play NL (for now) he plays at a similar level $ wise to me which I can relate too.

Your recent strategy segments are also enjoyable and I know there are forums where I can post hands but if you forgive me I'd like to share a couple of hands I was involved with recently and would love an opinion.
I did share this with a good mate recently whose far more experienced than I am and he thought I was a bit fishy.
I'll try and be brief

So it's sat night at crown immediately prior to this years aussie millions and its $2/4 cash. I'm having the night of my poker life and am up about $2.3k and nothing is going wrong. For example at one point I was ready to go and was gonna just play the button and leave but I get QQ, flop a set and it's another big pot my way.
I know people do it but I can't leave straight away and so it goes on.
So the seat to my right is empty and the boyfriend of the girl two to my right sits down and buys in for the maximum $400. To reassure the table about possible collusion he announces that this is small stakes for him and not a big deal. I ask him if he was a pro and he says yes.
I then decide to stay a little longer just to see what he does
Both hands involve the two of us and it goes like this-

He button me SB
Several limpers villain makes it 20
I make it 60 with A8 suited. Folds to villian.
Flop 10 9 7 rainbow. I check he makes it 65 and I snap re raise to 180 and he calls
6 on the turn gives me the straight. I check he bets and I put him all in and he calls. River x and I show and he mucks.

He buys in again for $400 and this next hand was one orbit later

He button me SB with KJ hearts (under the circumstances more than good enough)
Anyway action pre is exactly as above.
Flop is 9 high with 2 diamonds and as above I check, he continues a similar amount as before and I reraise to $180 and he calls. Turn is a brick and it goes check check. I've already decided to shove any non diamond on the river and that's what happens.
He thought maybe 5/6 seconds and calls. Now I know I'm beat and I say I'm almost embarrassed to show this but I've got K high. To mine and everyone else's amazement he say K high is good and mucks but I see his cards as he does so and he had 10 6 diamonds wtf
My mate said no way is he a pro but I had no reason to believe he was lying.

Forgive me if it looks like I'm bragging but am curious about the hands

Anyway looking forward to many years of listening ahead and in the words of Curtis Mayfield
Keep on keeping on

Hi Adam, T and Ross,

I have been listening to the show since about #150 from the beautiful central coast of California (1500 feet from the Pacific Ocean) in the middle of nowhere. It's 220 miles to L.A. or San Francisco from here and a 30 minute drive to the nearest Starbucks or Target store.

Generally you are talking into my ears as I walk along hillside and coastal paths several days per week (not often enough so I am larger than I want to be and always a week to three behind the current show). While listening, I have great ideas for e-mails or posts to send, but then forget all about them when I get back home, sorry.

As a U.S. player (yep, I play silly small stakes in "the grey market" because my government imposes the same restrictions on playing poker with my money as the great governments of North Korea and Iran!), it tilts me to hear about things that I can't participate in but would like to (e.g. weekly invitational). I remember listening to Mike & Adam when the Full Tilt resolution was reached and thinking that I would gladly give up my account refund opportunity (which only took 2 more years) to be able to play a decent online game again. So topics that are a source of joy for many, often are just more frustration for those of us who live in "the land of the free."

But I do enjoy most of the show, most of the time. Had a good LOL about the cop following Adam until he did something wrong. I want to play poker with that officer sometime - did he not realize that there is no way to know if the rat-bastard who gets pulled over all the time was driving the vehicle that evening (my wife, siblings and adult children have all driven my car at times)???

Here's a strategy question that I'd like to hear you address: In no limit holdem cash and tourneys, should I just muck QQ whenever it is dealt to me? I have lost more equity holding damn pocket queens than any other starting hand including being knocked out of 3 of the 6 WSOP bracelet events I have played in (all-in pre-flop -- to 66 that hit quads, the 88 of Martin ****ing Stazko who went over the top of my all in and then flopped a set, and KK which naturally held)!

Keep up the good work and curse all you want (I surely do whenever poker comes up)...

Cheers,
Ykanti

Forgot to mention that I listen in the car everywhere I go and at work. I write code for an airline company so I get to listen all day while I code. I'll chalk up any mistakes in the airline code to the pokercast :-)

Just got round to listening and thanks for the shout out and critique of those two hands
When it came on I was driving my son home from footy training and he was half embarrassed half laughing so that was good
As for the hands, yes I was effing with him but I take your point about my line.
I just might have learnt something there and also when to actually leave the table.
Wouldn't be the first time my logic tells me to do the opposite of what's correct lol

Currently listening from a smoking hot 20/40 game on table 37 at Bay 101 (San Jose, CA for those that don't know)!

I'm a week behind, so I'm listening to Episode 360 while pressure washing around my home in Ocala, FL (4,197mi/6754km outside Kells).

The breakdown of a Stud hand had me nearly falling asleep but then fortunately, a chipper Jason Sommerville woke me up. Love that his one trip outside in 53 days was to visit his weed guy for delivery. And also his voice sounds like a Muppet. In a good way.

Hi,

Listening weekly to you guys in my car deep in the state of hypocrisy known as Texas. I can usually burn through an episode on my way out of the "freedom" loving state to play poker in Oklahoma.

If you guys are out in Vegas during the colossus, one round is on me for all the entertainment you've provided me the last few years I've listened. You guys have made my drives enjoyable. Thanks again guys.

Based in Germany, usually listening during flights all across Europe for at least 7 years now. Great podcast, keep up the good work (and keep it poker related, lots of non-poker stuff lately)

One request: the invitational on PS should start earlier! Assuming that a lot of listeners (the majority?) are located in Europe and most people have to go to work on Monday morning it would be great to start the tourney an hour or two earlier.

I am getting old and need my sleep before the weekly grind at the office starts!

Harlem.

I try to read a book or newspaper on the subway to keep my mind sharp, but when it is crowded I listen to your drivel. Passes the time.

Just catching up on the last few shows. It's too bad because I play in a few places around NYC and I could have taken Ross along. Although I don't know any place that spreads any game that has "cents" in the title.

All in jest. Love your show, it does make the subway ride go faster.
