Boooooo

How about a pole to see how many people want him on?

How about picking one of the more colourful mid-stakes regulars and doing a year in the life of a mid stakes pro. Have him on every 6 weeks or so and talk about the swings, degeneracy and the poker world in general.

Adam:

The best tv poker is High Stakes and anyone from that gig would be nice, but in the real world of cash games someone like Gabe Thaylor or another person who is genuinely big in the cash game world would be a welcome break from the internet phenoms, many of whom are not very interesting people or very good outside of the online world.

I was just coming to this thread to suggest Gabe.

+1 then.

Any chance we can get Cory Zeidman for a quick segment on next week's show? I'd love to hear him and Adam banter back and forth about how much Phil Hellmuth sucks for a few minutes. He's a 2p2er and has been responding to a lot of praise/criticism in this thread in TV poker.

I think you should have a segment called "Two Hobos In Vegas" during the WSOP, featuring me and LuckyJimm. You'd need to buy plane tickets for LuckyJimm obv, but I'll get there in my van.

Every week you could have us both on for a few minutes, and it would be like:

MJ: So, what did you guys do yesterday?

me: Well, Jim got kicked out of the abandoned condo he's been squatting in, so he was a little depressed. Then he lost $2k at PLO. I don't even know where he got the money cuz he was completely busto the day before, but somehow he managed to get $2k and immediately lose it all. I played 2/5 NL for 14 hours and made $31. Then around midnight we went dumpster diving at Mesa Grill. So we ate stale blue corn tortillas and about a liter of some spicy orange sauce for dinner. That Bobby Flay guy sure likes those sauces... I think we'll hit up Olives tomorrow night!

I would like to suggest a software segment similar to one that was discussed in the thread when you had the PT guy on.

I don't know who it should be but have an informed 2+2er post about:
- HEM vs PT
- some tips for getting the most out of both
- other software (pokerEV the stox thing etc.)
- hotkeys and scripts

Discussion of home games!

Get a panel together of casual and serious hosts, home-game hoppers, and mid-stakes private-game grinders.

Topics can include: Structures, house rules, etiquette, profitability, environement, social aspects, legal aspects, crazy stories, tournament vs. cash, recruitment, game maintenance, networking, private games vs. casinos, designated dealers, cheating, conflict resolution, special strategy, tipping/rake, unusual agreements, etc.

This would be totally different, and totally interesting to anyone who regularly plays in home games, which should be a decent number of us. Furthermore, these types of topics lend themselves very easily to a podcast-style discussion.

And home games are a very important component of the poker economy-- it is often the gateway to online or B&M.

Listen to the interview on Pokerroad Cash Plays. His comments on the history of hold'em are interesting, however his strategy discussion is uninformative (though sometimes entertaining). He seems to be more of a "feel"-based player, and those types simply can't communicate their "feel" to us.

If the goal is to get a live cash player, forget the Bobby's Room types -- we've heard enough from them. A discussion with an articulate 5/10 grinder would be awesome. That would be fresh news and ideas from the front-lines of poker pro-dom.

Hey guise, I got it! I totally got it!

I know who you should bring on the show.

Bill Fillmaff!

you totally gotta bring him on the show. I don't know if he's in retirement or whatever cause he hasn't made any new videos and he used to have a myspace but it's been deleted, so I don't know, but you guys gotta have him on and convince him to come back from retirement.

The poker world needs Bill Fillmaff AINEC

i want Doyle Brunson!

i love hearing the old school poker stories of the crazy backroom games, the encounters with law enforcement and all the crazy stuff that a professional poker player encountered back then.

i remember hearing him tell a story on TV about getting a shotgun pulled on him... so i would love to hear more stories like this.

edit: if you can't get doyle... then get someone who also was a rounder like 30 or 40 years ago who has equally crazy stories of shenanigans

I made a post on nvg along the lines that what the poker world needs is a yearly big brother event tied in with famious players.

I dont know if I have just had a genus moment or not but...

What about if during the break before the wcop final table each year ,the 9 players/contestants are made to live in a big brother type house with all the presures invovled?

If you leave you lose your place on the final table, if you can make it the 60 days under the camera and around other villans :-) you get your shot.

I think this is an amazing idea and would cause no end of Air time and dicussion.

I think this is such a good idea and is worth pod cast time.

What better way to keep poker alive during the two months, just an insanly good idea?

:-)

We want Doyle too, he turned us down. I don't know for sure but Doyle may not be comfortable going on our show because of the affiliation with 2+2, NVG has been a bit hard on him at times. We will of course try again over time. Meanwhile at least 10% of our shows are old school players who have been around decades, for example Danny Robison and Steve Zolitow were both on the show this past year, check the archives for more!
