I like hearing about prop bets. I like making prop bets. If I had to guess I would say the 83% of our audience like hearing about them and we are nothing if not a democratic show.
As a former broadcaster, and the son of a lifelong broadcaster, I understand that prop bets and other silliness make "good TV" (and good radio).
What I was adressing is that when we have poker players speaking to the media, legislative hearings, etc., trying to convince them that poker is a game of skill, we better be
very careful who we put out there.
I don't think that someone who has worn a chicken suit on TV because he lost a prop bet, or someone like Phil Ivey who will bet on anything and everything, is someone we want making our case, and subject to the questioning of a grandstanding politician who would like to make his own "good TV".
