Re: Suggest a guest or segment

Sorry Allen, I just reread what I wrote, and realised it came off douchey. I was being sincere I saying that I would be interested in hearing an interview about life on the road for a tournament grinder. Is it glamorous? Is it a grind? Is going busto a real risk? How much does that effect your decisions on what to play. It was stupid of me to say " you scrape by". What the hell do I know? Sorry if I offended you.

Re: Suggest a guest or segment

You asked for guest suggestions this week. How about Bryan Devonshire. I find his Cardplayer magazine articles interesting and see him in Blackhawks, Colorado playing. I think his story would be interesting. Why did he leave Vegas, what are his future plans, etc.

Someone from DSPT to talk about the partnership with WPT and the recent Canadian stops added to their schedule later this year.

And now, 4/29/14 he may come on just because of some random thread in NVG instead of listening to what a longtime listener has been saying for almost two years. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Chill dude, it's hard to keep track of everyone in the poker world.

We had a spot open this week, so we asked him. He's not sure he wants to do it.

Always thought this, be nice to know how/what he's doing.

Another nice one to promote 2p2 would be "Meet the Mods", they are the unsung heroes of the forums and could promote their own bit of it.

I think this is a wonderful idea.

Whats a 'year' in the life of an un sponsored live tourney grinder like? Is it about pinching every penny? What are the decisions about where/when to play? Whether or not to sell pieces or take shots? What is a legit 'downswing'? Is it going 5 tourneys w/o a cash? 6 months? a year with no cashes or only a few mins? What is life in the Heartlands for example away from the tables? Movies? Women? Waffle House w Bubba?

Of course there are as many answers as there are players, but it would be great to hear from someone like Chainsaw who defines the dedicated unsponsored tourney grinder.

And please...no offense by my use of the word 'unsponsored' - you know what I mean.

Re: Suggest a guest or segment

eh no offence but I could do without that.

We have had him on the pokercast a few years back and he did a feature length interview on the pokernews podcast not too long ago.

Not that I would passionately dislike hearing from him but there are many other people I would like to hear from more

you're referring to Chainsaw? meh I know nothing of him other than whats bandied about.

so pick a different grinder..a Ronnie Bardah (sic?) or Loni Harwood or someone who plays WSOP Circuit, Heartlands, $500 BIs....wherever.

Of course the toughest part is finding someone who can not only tell their tales, but make them entertaining...no easy task

Jacob Schindler. Rising US young gun, 7 cashes in last year's WSOP (the real one) and beat out Selbst and Merson to win the PCA high roller this year. Currently 26th in Bluff power ranking.

Re: Suggest a guest or segment

One topic that often comes up is how many of the older pros have been able to adapt to changes in the game. The three names that always come to mind for me are Mike Sexton, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth.

I subscribe to Johnathan Little's coaching site, and I have a feeling that an E-mail I received today could generate some conversation. Here is a portion of that E-mail:

------------------

Join Phil Hellmuth and Jonathan Little
for a LIVE Webinar on May 17th

Hello everyone, this is Jonathan Little, and I'm really excited about my next webinar.

Why? Because Phil Hellmuth Jr. has graciously agreed to join me on May 17th to teach it!

Phil is going to reveal exactly how he won the 2012 WSOP Europe Main Event.

In 2012, Phil beat a field of 420 players to capture his 13th bracelet as well as the €1,022,376 first-place prize money.

Even though I will be hosting this webinar with Phil, I'm just as excited as anyone to be able to learn from him. I seriously cannot wait for this webinar!

Re: Suggest a guest or segment

It's been about a year since Matusow has been on. I don't think he's been involved in anything noteworthy lately, but he's always been incredibly interesting on prior podcasts. He doesn't have that filter that most of us have, so his pure, honest takes on fellow pros is always intriguing.

Colson Whitehead, author of "The Noble Hustle: Poker, Beef Jerky, and Death":

http://www.amazon.com/Noble-Hustle-P...dp/B00GL3OJQQ/

"Whitehead was given a $10,000 stake and an assignment from the online online magazine Grantland to see how far he could get in the World Series of Poker. But since it stems from the astonishing mind of Colson Whitehead (MacArthur Award-endorsed!), the book is a brilliant, hilarious, weirdly profound, and ultimately moving portrayal of--yes, it sounds overblown and ridiculous, but really!--the human condition."
