Hmmm?

John Stossel, host of "Stossel" on the Fox Business Network and author of "No They Can't: Why Government Fails, but Individuals Succeed," wrote in his article on the Fall of Rome (www.johnstossel.com):

"Historian Carl Richard said that today's America resembles Rome. The Roman Republic had a constitution, but Roman leaders often ignored it. 'Marius was elected consul six years in a row, even though under the constitution (he) was term-limited to one year.'

What say you 3?

Hi AS and TC,

Okay... I was listening to an older episode when Mike was hosting it. He was interviewing JRB... Wait for it.........

Please bring back the "How much ya got!?" game. Hearing Mike and Adam play that game before JRB came on was grand. Especially cause Adam always lost and was so far out.

Viewers can also play the game themselves....

Everyone here agrees with this... Bring back how much ya got please

INDEED!!! Agree!

Can I also say that I think Adam and Terence are taking a passive aggressive attitude with the uploading of the new shows.

Why do I say this? Because two weeks ago there was quite a few negative comments directed at Ross with the audio quality, the drops and a few other things (I don't agree with any of it btw) so then Adam jumped in saying how Ross has to work many hours getting the show up and editing it, basically saying he's quite rushed. Then someone said something along the lines of well he shouldn't have to work so hard and be up to 4am editing the show. Then Adam said something like well we try and get it up each week but if you're concerned about Ross and the production then you can be fine waiting... Then he was a bit cheeky and said we could do it like rogan does it on the fly... obv don't do this!! This is from memory so I could be a bit off.

The last two weeks it's taken extra long to upload a new show and I think it's more of a **** you to the listeners for their complaints... The **** you because the show is fine and the complaints weren't that valid IMO.

Another **** you they've done twice is 'apologise' for the audio... "sorry for the echo" and "sorry for the thumping up stairs above studio"... THE SOUND IS FINE, you're just pulling our legs apologising for NOTHING... so passive!

Please have an ETA date for the next episodes so I don't have to refresh every god damn 4 hours... I am craving, I've had to listen to episodes 2 or 3 times now... Sigh

There's an audio essay here on the nature of "sorry" in Canada.

What happens to the Bluff awards now, or the top 20?

Some dubious accounting needs to exist.

Gonna do the Pokercast Awards obviously

Obviously.

There is never a podcast in which I do not learn something of interest. Thank you for telling me about the PokerFraudAlert podcast.

Maybe you guys can bring this up:

I always enjoy listening to you guys discuss Phil Hellmuth. Even though he was in this week's episode, I see he is doing a reddit AMA. I hope this makes it into your next "In case you missed it".

thanks a lot for choosing the 5 card PLO format last week, was lots of fun

Can we do a round of 'How much you got'?

Just finished listening to the show. It was great like always. I think a lot of people like myself don't post on the thread even though we listen to the show religiously because we are usually multi-tasking while listening and don't remember to come back and comment later. But I made an effort this time after your plea. Love "in case you missed it", love the mail bag, love you guys just talking about your week and stuff like T having renters from hell and Adam's butthole flinching from seeing cop lights in the rear view mirror. I don't mind Ross' airhorns, and I think he does a great job. Thank you guys for putting all the effort into this weekly podcast. It's fun, informative, and a conduit for people who love poker to stay in the loop even when they don't live in an area with a lot of action. Also, a thank you to PokerStars for their sponsorship. Wouldn't mind bringing back "how much you got" and I'm still waiting for the bacon challenge for Ross.
ps...the blooper real at the end of the show is always a nice touch too.

I'm responding to the call for comments about the show. I have been a loyal listener for about 4 years. I listen to several poker podcasts and this is my favorite (Thinking Poker is a close second). I went to the Vegas meetup last year and even did a witty intro last year ("I'm chillin' style). I am happy with the current lineup and content. Here is just a little nit-picking...

Adam, I think you should slow down a little when reading mailbag letters. Sometimes you rush through it and it becomes hard to follow. Also, sometimes it seams as though you are trying to rush Ross through the hands on the Ross Report. Also, one recommendation on review of Ross' hands... I like Omaha 8 or better and try to "play to the nuts" and I am surprised at some of the starting hands that are discussed. In future reviews, can you elaborate more on why a given hand (or situation) is good for the starting hand Ross has?

Thanks for the information and entertainment!

Good show. Laughing hard a few times. Randy's interview seemed too 'sour grapes' and hard to follow at times as I never played on Planet or Paradise. Agree with Austin about thots and rationale for PLO and OE starting hands. Instead of "I agree with that" or "I would not have raised there" a little more explanation would help those of us trying to learn these 'new' games.

Hey, just wanted to thank you for all the work you put into making the show.
Love the strategy, poker news, gossip, favorite things and interviews.
If it wasn't for the podcast I may have never heard Dead End Drive In or got hooked on My Package ginch.

Also, wanted to mention if you haven't already heard this, you should once.

You could call it "...to us from...", just add us.

Don't know if this might be too complicated for stars to set up, but would be sweet if you guys had a small bounty in the pokercast invitational, whether it be like 5$ or something else (btw miss that icewaterwhip fish in there!)

thanks again for the great show!

I would enjoy listening to Terrence's opinion on Nick Diaz's five year suspension for passing two of three drug tests administered by WADA which were clean, while one test administered by Quest-Diagnostics was returned with elevated marijuana metabolites (and questionably done).

Fighters juicin' generally receive a one year suspension from the NSAC, and now it's has been outed Vitor Belfort tested hot just prior to his bout with Jon Jones. With Chan being an MMA fighter (HIT HIM IN THE FACE!!!), the NSAC and PED's are seemingly out of control. What are your thoughts as a professionally competing martial artist?

I realize this isn't poker related, but often you interview poker players and what else they are up to outside of their poker life. Terrence has an insiders view and I'd like to hear what he has to say on these topics. Did send a tweet earlier, and wanted to post as well, since I couldn't recall the email addy.

Thanks and listen to your show regularly! Did Ross really dust off his 1k bink?

We haven't had any bacon news in a while. I think it's due.

You recently reviewed a scenario that involved a player fishing into the muck to view an opponent's mucked cards. Have you ever heard of a dealer doing this?

I played a daily tournament at the Excalibur this morning in Las Vegas. Pete was one of the rotating dealers-- a very seasoned gentleman with a thick accent and a dry sense of humor. During one particular hand between Seat 1, a middle position opponent, and a guy in Seat 10... the player in Seat 10 folded to a large bet from the middle position player. Seat 1 went into the tank to contemplate a call. As the cards from Seat 10 went into the muck, the dealer promptly picked them completely off the table and held them high to his face so that he could satisfy his curiosity. In the process of so doing, he clearly exposed them to the player in Seat 1, who was sitting right next to him and who had yet to act with a live hand.

You've talked about what appropriate penalties could be levied against a player who fishes into the muck... but what should be done if a DEALER does this?

I realize that this was a low rent buy-in daily tournament at the Excalibur, in their sorry excuse for a "poker room," which looks more like a kiosk at Fashion Show Mall than an actual room... but this was still a real tournament at a Strip casino in Las Vegas-- not a home game. Shouldn't there be some level of professionalism here?

Please advise.

Stars was also quite generous giving us all our rake back for a season final prize pool (we ran 4 or 5 seasons IIRC), and a LAPC (?) package.

It was tough when we lost the US market because we lost a critical mass of EST to PST players. Prior to BF we did add some events that were in the early evenings for GMT it players, but they were definitely less well attended.

I was thinking about ways to resurrect this idea the other day. If people have any decent ideas and there is significant interest, I'd consider organizing a season in the fall with Stars support level being a major determinant.

Our old season length was about a month, which was pretty action packed. (28 events IIRC).
The old league was awesome.

I can no longer play so take this idea for whatever it is worth.

It wouldn't be the same as before, but maybe you could use results from the weekly tournament to build a leaderboard for a monthly or quarterly or whatever frequency tournament that is capped to the people with the most points. You could even take some of the weekly added money and save it towards that prize pool. This would also require being available only 1 time slot a week, which was my main problem with the league as I had to work much of the time. Also could make for some extra bubble spots in the last tournament before the special one.
