If you haven't seen, you will enjoy this sick sweat for the millionaire maker on Draft Kings for Eric Crain. Watch from 3:27 or so for a couple of minutes. He was fading Ezekiel Elliot, Jordan Mathews, and even had to deal with overtime.

Hey guys, big fan of the podcast although admittedly I've only been listening for a few months. I have a situation that I hope you guys can offer some advice on, and I'll attempt to keep it short.

Myself and three of my friends (all 22-23) all currently are pretty serious grinders on ACR. Three of us have actually ran it up and are now regularly playing in the high and mid stakes MTTs that the site has to offer and are finding success. While the three of us are running it up, there is one guy in our group who hasn't done that at all. In fact, he owes one of us quite a bit of money we have loaned him for buy-ins. None of us want to get rid of him from the little group we have formed. However, it doesn't seem like his game is improving and adapting like the rest of us are seeing in our own game even though we constantly share information with each other, discuss hand histories, watch streams, etc. When you have a goal, it's obviously GTO to have a group of friends trying to accomplish the same thing. However, having this friend in our group is not GTO, and as much as we want to keep assisting him with both his game and his bankroll, it is becoming hindering and tiresome. Have any of you had a situation of your own or know of a similar situation, and what is the appropriate way to handle this?

Thanks gang. Love the pod!

Isn't this like having a band member who isn't up to snuff? If you're a garage band with no aspirations, whatevs.

Similarly, are you sharing profits and treating this arrangement as a business or not? If it is a business, I think you already know what you need to do. One of you three needs to put on your big boy pants and do it. If it's your first time firing someone, it will be hard. You will agonize over whether you're being fair (if this didn't matter to you it would have been done already).

This is the simple and most effective solution, of course- however, I've been friends with this guy for much, much longer than we have been pursuing poker. Would hate to ruin our friendship over giving him the boot.

I would be interested in interviews with players that quit poker as their main career after Black Friday and their thoughts as to whether it was a net positive or negative in their lives now that it's been over five years. It's something I think about a lot myself. I ended up as a teacher and I wonder sometimes what my life would have been like if Black Friday had never happened and games had stayed relatively the same.

I'd like to know if the Trump Victory changes anything for online poker in the US?

Thanks, and really love the show.

In the 140 or less drop, where does the really short clip [of Adam?] saying "Terrance Chan" come from, and why is it there? Is this an in-joke I missed?

forgot about todays $1M freeroll. came home and saw that i had finished 25k-th out of 103k for $12.40 by sitting out, more than the $9.70 average. thoughts on this? any idea why stars decided to pay out 75% of the field? in the free roll before, half the people at my table sat out and the rest played so aggro that I folded down to 3BB before the bubble. sitting out was def more profitable than calling min raises in the big blind and then folding to the 100% cbet bomb on the flop.

Hey Guys could you discuss a little about the tax situation in Canada?

I know it's a very grey area topic. From my understanding it's taxable if a primary income but whether that means the most $ or the most time spent in itself, is grey. Also I was told once by a tax accountant who investigated this for me (just from an interest point of view) that if it is carried it out as a "business" then taxes should be paid. The term business was effectively defined as if the player is actually doing anything proactive to try win (review hands, employ a strategy, etc). So basically if you think, you are carrying-out a taxable business procedure according to this. I know there was the Radonjic (poker player) vs. CRA case that went to federal court and ruled in favour of Radonjic. If you don't pay taxes, do you simply not declare your winnings?

Any input/thoughts is greatly appreciated!

thanks guys, love the show!

Sorry for the interruption. I started a thread on Scientology and would like your input. Thanks in advance.

Hello first time poster, been listening for a while. I am wondering if Terrance has any stories from his days living in CostaRica working for PokerStars? I would be very interested in hearing some of these

You guys probably know that the HSDB was recently acquired by new owners (180vita.com). And all the players' graphs/information was released to the public, even those for players who opted-out (that is, said that they did not want their results made public).

I can imagine that many people in the high-stakes community are quite pissed at this.

Somebody mentioned that Adam and 2+2 management has had unpleasant dealings with 180vita.com company in the past (see post #107 in the thread linked below).

Doug Polk made a short video on this topic too which can be found via post #1 in the thread linked below.

Here is a link to the thread in NVG.

As long as I am here ...

You guys probably know that the Ivey-Borgata edge-sorting judge this week ordered Ivey to repay the Borgata $10.1 million. This is the $9.6 million Ivey won at Punto Banco (mini-Baccarat) via edge-sorting + $500,00 Ivey won at the Borgata at craps using the edge-sorting "ill-gotten gains".

Also, in case you or your listeners may be interested, some nut (aka me) showed that the edge that Ivey achieved via edge-sorting gave him a 99+% of winning $10 million. Some people argued that Ivey's edge was not significant and that he could just as well as lost millions (a version of the argument that "the casino had a freeroll"). Straightforward analysis demonstrates that Ivey's edge was around 5-7% per deal ("coup" in baccarat) and with that edge Ivey was basically printing money. (See post #290 in the thread linked below.)

Here is the link for the thread in NVG.

Hey Guys,

Love the show, been listening every week for about a year now. I was at a pretty crazy home game last night and after a few adult beverages ran into an interesting prop last night and have no idea who was on the right side. One side gets AKQJ-random suits so there may or may not be suited cards. After that the other side gets 6 random cards, then we run out a hold 'em board and each side can use up to two cards to make their best hand. I took AKQJ and won once and lost once. Who do you think has the best side of this bet, and how much of an edge is there?

It is unintentional, but this part always sounds similar to the Serial intro to me.

I had some time so I modified my personal NLHE simulator to handle this game.

In 1 Million deals, here are the equities I found:

42.0% for the AKQJ (random suits)

58.0% for the Six random cards

(I'll cross-post to this week's pokercast thread as well.)

I'm clearly much smarter than Terrence, to prove that I have a cherry-picked sample size of one

Luckily I did that thing where I acknowledged I was getting it in bad before offering the bet, so that I wouldn't look too dumb either way.

It's like saying "I know you have me beat" before calling. The "look smart freeroll".

Got some fighter/mma questions, as its something that I find interesting and its pretty cool to have a pokerplayer//mma expert. Feel free to answer here or on ur podcast...

What kind of foot strengthening excercises do you do? (balance pipes?, slant boards?, stability type stuff?)

Do you ever use a yoga ball in ur ab workouts?

How important is the speed bag? Is this something every fighter should be incorporating into their workout everyday?

Have you seen the joe rogan podcast with nick curson and his training methods which say lifting weights has little benefit for many fighters?

At what point does weight just become to much of a factor in a fight, as in throw out some hypotheticals, can a 150lb guy who has been training mma for 6 months beat a 200lb decently in shape man who goes to gym 4x/week, lifts heavy, but never been in a real fight?

You have yet to lose, do you think you will ever face a loss in the octagon? Is it likely or forseeable that a defeat will cause you to re-evaluate the fight game? A lot of fighters with similiar records will take a loss and end up moving on to something else.

Do you ever worry about brain trauma? Is hard sparring something that you do a lot of?

Do you have any significant others or family that just has a hard time watching you fight? Maybe they care to much about you to see and cant appreciate the competition of the sport given the violence.

What characteristics make a natural fighter? If you were 15 years old, and some1 said that you would take up fighting and step in an octagon was that forseeable?

Were you picked on or bullied as a kid?

---

feel free to skip any of these, but I really appreciate any feedback and insight.
