Been listening since Jan 2008 and haven't missed an episode. I really enjoy how your show makes me feel like I'm a participating member of the live/online poker community. Even though I lived in Hawaii and then Guam for 5 years(which was pretty much as far away from the poker world as you can get -especially after black Friday), the one or two times I was able to play Live during that time ( 1 time in Maccau and 1 time on a quick trip to Florida) I really felt like I hadn't been away from the game or community for years, and I attribute that to the podcast and the forums.

Besides listening to the PokerCast during my commute in stop and go island traffic, I also listened to you guys on some submarine deployments. I've definitely listened to you guys in places I can't mention, but one place I can safely say is I was listening to you guys hundreds of feet underwater at the intersection of the Equator and the International Dateline. Middle of nowhere

Three things
1) Stripper Trivia
In my "journeys" I ran into a stripper with a degree in astrophysics (I thought it was bs too until we talked about particle physics for 30 minutes) and I'm pretty sure she would have gone 4 for 4 (maybe missed the axis and allies one). Additionally, my wife used to be a stripper (long story), and I'm convinced she could get all 4.
Has stripper ever gotten them all right?

2) I'll finally be making my first trip out to the WSOP this year. Originally I was planning on bringing the whole family out (wife and 6 month old- she was content to stay in the room with him all weekend) over the 4th of July weekend, but luckily my mom offered to come and watch the baby over the June 26th weekend so I opted for the baby free weekend instead. I'll arrive in Vegas on Thursday June 25th right in time for the $1500 Dealer's Choice. I've got some mixed game experience, but I'm definitely going to have to study up on my draw games the next few months. My biggest concern is that I've never played in a mixed limit tournament before so I'm trying to figure out what type of game to select when I'm the dealer depending on my chip stack. My initial reaction is to play big bet games when small stack and the triple draw games when a big stack. However, I'm worried that I'll just get called down my inexperienced players in the draw games (by poor players) anyways so it not like I can abuse the small stacks when the blinds get high. I'm sure there are a ton of factors I am not thinking about. Also. I know game selection depends on a ton of factors like everyone else's stacks, blind sizes, and what games I and my opponents are good at. I'm thinking some sick metagame idea is to pick my weakest game as my first dealer choice, and then hope no one picks that one anymore since they think I'm good at it. Either way Just curious for your take on the tourney since I know you guys have significant mixed games and mixed limit experience

3) Living in the US, I'm excluded from the Pokercast invitational. Any chance Pokerstars would entertain a "Play Money" weekly invitational so US listeners could play. I figure they could add some "Play Money" to the prize pool, and maybe throw in some Pokerstars gear for the top finishers, or maybe you could offer some of the new Pokercast Shirts. Make the buy-in something greater than 1000 chips so the entire world can't reload and buy in (maybe 1500). Not sure what the interest would be, but I'm sure if Ross simultaneously live streamed playing the real and Play Money that would generate enough interest.

Hey guys,

I recently moved from Philadelphia to LA and I was surprised by all of the minor differences in the games. For example, the 1/2 NL games I was mostly playing on the east coast was $60-300 buy in, while games in LA are like 1/2 with $40-60 buy in or 1/3 with $50-100 buy in (or comparable depending on the room.) The Bike's 2/3 game is the smallest game i have found where you can even buy into for 100 bigs.

Other big differences i have noticed are the rake vs. drop, dealers playing in their own card rooms (even on the clock), and way more prop players.

All that has made me curious about how other poker regions and rooms do business. I would love to hear you guys compare and contrast these kinds of standards and practices in different rooms around the world.

Also, Adam sometimes talks tangentially about his days as a prop in LA and I am curious to hear more about that experience: What was your average work week? Was making enough money easy or difficult? What kind of bankroll is necessary for that? Do you have any good stories from those days? Anything about that experience you feel like sharing would be pretty interesting to me.

I like the recent addition to the Poker Cast of "What to Expect at the WSOP". The segment on the satellites was great. It sounds like you have some good topics to help shed some light on the WSOP for the rookies. As I was thinking about past WSOP's, I thought of the PokerCast parties or at least what I remember of them. Are you starting to make arrangements for another PokerCast party this year? If not, you need to start the planning process. Perhaps a thread.

Hey Pokercast,

It's going to be my first time at the WSOP this year (was thinking of going for 4-5 days) and I would love some help on how I can experience it with around $2,500 after flights to play poker with/accommodations/food. Is this enough to get a full experience?

As of now my plan was to play the daily deep stacks and 1-2 (or possibly a little 2-5 near end of trip). Also, if I hit any of the tourny's or did well in cash games I would look into playing a 1k.

Maybe this har been covered before, but I would love the hear Adam´s poker story.
When did he start playing? Under what circumstances? When did he go pro? Why did he go pro (love for the game or disdain for "the man?")? What different ways has he been making a living (live, online, different formats)? How does his poker-life look now? Thoughts about pokers role in his life in the future?

I guess Adam doesn´t look at himself as a high profile player, but for us listeners he is and I am sure many would enjoy hearing about his poker journey.

Hey guys, been a fan of the show the past 4-5 years now, great job as always and I especially love the WSOP segments. I'm coming down this summer for my first extended trip and planning on playing mostly mid stakes cash games with a few of the higher value tournaments. You guys hinted at it in ep 355, and I would appreciate a segment on navigating the cash games out there, moving and keeping money and just general guidelines on being safe as the one facet of the trip that's currently making me uncomfortable is carrying large amounts of cash around. I am aware money can be wired to the Rio for MTTs, but do they do anything for cash players as well like deposit boxes, etc.?

I've just got some really basic questions for you...

1.) Do you guys play many tourneys these days? Or do you just play the big ones every now and then?

2.) Any stories about how your SM went on Sunday? (for the 9th Anniversary). Bad beats etc.

3.) Also, i'm keen to know what your biggest tourney score is online or live. (I understand if this question is too personal but i am curious).

Few things
1) Terrance, in response to your "playing poker stars while on a submarine comment"- if you've figured out how to send signals of any sort through hundreds of feet of water, then quit your day job and sell that technology to the highest bidder. When we are up in comms the data rate is laughable anyways- think dial up rate and take the under.


2)Any word on the play money invitational? I know it can take a while to get through the Pokerstars management, just wondering if they shot it down already for some legal reason.


3) Started listening to the "Gambler's Edge" Podcast. The first time I heard the intro, I burst out laughing when the mentioned that one host was a member of the "Blackjack hall of fame", and one was a member of the "Video Poker Hall of fame". I looked it up and they are real.

Unfortunately, there is no craps hall of fame, but I feel like Tron would be shoe in to get inducted based on his performance in the World Series of Dice (Chappelle Show- http://www.cc.com/video-clips/jwy71h...e---uncensored)

Adam, you have to admit that despite its drawbacks, the poker hall of fame has more merit that the Video Poker or Blackjack. I mean WTF really qualifies you for making significant contributions to a game that the house has an edge. And they're not inducting people that did awesome degen stuff like, play 6 hands of $100 blackjack for 12 hours, or 4 days straight of video poker.
The Blackjack hall of famers don't even put up real pictures of themselves because they don't want the casinos to know who they are since they count cards. I just envision their induction ceremonies being a bunch of people standing around with paper bags over their heads.

If Black Jack and Video Poker have a hall of fame, I think its time we create our own "Poker Podcasting Hall of Fame". Too late this year to develop this idea but I think we could turn this into a hilarious annual "gala" in Vegas during the WSOP.

Figure we can make a mock poker or even two plus two centered award show to go along with the "inductions" with such crowd pleasing subjective categories as
1) Best online graph (positive and negative)
2) Best level
3) Troll of the year
4) worst dressed poker player
5) Biggest tournament fail
6) Poker player most likely not to be playing in 3 years
7) The Ryan Reiss award for biggest overstatement of ones own poker ability
Plenty of other possibilities

This could also be a time to announce the winners of the annual "Girls of (insert thread)" - And "Guy of That's what she said thread"- if they do that.

Venue- divey hotel reception room. Think of throwing a crappy wedding reception and that's a baseline to start.

I'll gladly spearhead this initiative with the hope of doing the first one next summer. Since the annual two plus two party seems to have fizzled out, this can provide somewhat of a replacement. We can have a "founding meeting" in the near future online or in person (I'll be in vegas 25-28 JUN). To hash out some details and assign responsibilities.

A kickstarter campaign might be a good way to raise start-up funds to defer costs of admission but we could probably get some sponsorship (patio furniture companies will sponsor anything)

Would like to get some input on a hand... I normally play cash games only, but because I won a free seat into the main event I have been playing some tournaments recently. This situation came up in a $400 9 Handed NL MTT.

Folds to CO who limps, Button makes it $1,800 (covers all players). I am in the SB with AQo and call. CO limber calls.

How do I proceed on the flop / following streets?

Anything to have less steve Day on the pokercast is a million thumbs up for me.

It's not personal towards steve... although I feel like it's possible for another pokerstars rep to do much better and not bother me the way he does.

He talks to everyone as if they're 6. All spin and shill and says right??? in a very annoying way.
