would be cool to give a shoutout to the winners of the real money/play money tourneys every week. Maybe at the same time as when you give the password for the upcoming tourney.

Maybe I'm just suggesting this because i took down the play money (sick brag - except thats the only thing i got going last Sunday, lol)

looks like you guys know how to have a good time in Canada: http://www.itv.com/news/2015-07-07/m...balloon-chair/

do you guys think there are certain games that can exist online but couldn't really live? I'm thinking about new games such as PLO6 where I can't image having to handle 6 cards live (or remembering accurately over many hands). A bit interesting to think about, where certain games may be much more feasible/practical online vs. live, any thoughts?

I've heard you guys mention a few times that you don't listen to the show after you record it. As someone with a little radio experience, I think you're missing an opportunity for improvement here. It's kind of like going over hands in poker. I'd recommend picking out any episode and listening to five minutes per week. You'd be surprised at how many little things you catch and much better you get. Note that it will probably be painful at first unless you've got that Hellmuth disorder where you really like the sound of your own voice.

Thanks for the reply / info. Just wanted some insight into someone's learning curve but I see it's not gonna happen. Geez!

I have put some thought into Daniel's bust out hand. I think he played it horribly and his small ball approach cost him here. He needs to shove pre. When he goes for the check raise, what range does he expect to get called by? Everything beats him. After the mistake pre, he needs to either bet fold or check call, then fold to any additional bet, but that is bad too. Just jam it in there pre. There is 1.55M in when McKeehen min raises. If he jams and gets a fold, he has 6.225M + 1.55M = 7.775M. Let’s say he gets called by 15% of McKeehen’s range. 85% of the time, his stack increases 20%. 15% of the time, he calls. 15% is 77+, A7s+, K9s+, Q10s+, J10s, A10o+, K10o+, QJo (200 of 1326 combos). Against that hand range, he has 40.2% equity. So of that 15% of the time he is called, he wins 40.2%…AKA he makes money shoving a little over 91% of the time. He busts just 8% of the time.

2 things.

Firstly
How much study does it take to be able to comment on something like subfocused has done in the previous post. its way beyond me, sounds impressive though.
and how important is it for a recreational low stakes tournament player like myself to be able to have an understanding of these concepts and calling ranges.

Secondly when are you going to make some sort of league structure out of the invitational. people love a challenge and a league is a great way for people to pit there wits against others.

Here are my thoughts;

Hold a little of the added money each week back for tournament tokens for say the top 10.

A 17 week league. with a good variety of games.

Top 12 of the 17 weekly scores count for each participant.(this gives hope to players who cannot participate every week)

10pts for getting into the money with additional points based on payout structure.

you could even have a dedicated link on the forum in which players who want to participate in the league have to post there username.

just a thought.

Hi guys,
I am a new listener from Portland Oregon 7400 kilometers from Kells.
I have been enjoying the show immensely as I am working about 90 hrs a week driving meds around the pnw. First off I just want to comment on the fact that Portland is the best low stakes poker city in the world. This is because we do not pay any rake!! There are a few dozen social gaming venues around the city that charge 10$ at the door, allowing access to rake free cash shootouts and tournaments for the day. I think I do not need to elaborate on why this is so amazing for the recreational player such as myself.
I am looking for some knowledge and advice on taking a vacation up to bc to play on poker stars. I have been working these insane hours with the intention of taking an extended vacay and would like to take a shot at stars since I have not played since Black Friday. How much money do you think I will need to live comfortably for about a month and what size roll would you suggest saving up to play .5 1 max plo and some mtts without risking a ruinous result too quickly. I am a winning player but am aware of how much online poker has evolved since I have been away. Thanks guys, love the show!
Ps. Wsoportland is a great idea.
Thanks again,
Ben in pdx.

We had one pre-black Friday, it was awesome. I am biased of course because I ran it, but it really was a lot of fun. We had tiny chat going for webcams, and did some really fun stuff. Stars was also quite generous giving us all our rake back for a season final prize pool (we ran 4 or 5 seasons IIRC), and a LAPC (?) package.

It was tough when we lost the US market because we lost a critical mass of EST to PST players. Prior to BF we did add some events that were in the early evenings for GMT it players, but they were definitely less well attended.

I was thinking about ways to resurrect this idea the other day. If people have any decent ideas and there is significant interest, I'd consider organizing a season in the fall with Stars support level being a major determinant.

Our old season length was about a month, which was pretty action packed. (28 events IIRC).

I was thinking more along the lines of the Sunday invitational, less hectic. Less variance.
Giving more people an actual chance of winning without forcing players to play every day and cutting the chances of those who don’t or cannot.
A few early exits should not harm your chances in a league and will keep it going to the wire, this this could be HUGE!!!!!!

Although a World Championship for Listeners of the inspirational Pokercast (WCLIP) (best I can do, sorry, and inspirational could be replaced by a lot of words). Is a great idea, pack in the events, play money of course, more players more chance

great show.. listen all the time.
Was awesome to hear MJ again this week.

Thought a good segment would be the opposite of Our Favorite Things. Things you don't like for the week. Some of our non-favorite things.

Also, you mentioned you guys have been signed again for another year. Hi 5s all around! However, I believe it would be beneficial if the show would start taking a roll in helping get US Players back online. Maybe have a weekly segment talking about the state of online poker in the US. Help unite US Players to go after necessary causes to get US back up and into the poker pool. You talk about how good it would be for poker if Daniel made the final table in this years main event. Could you imagine poker if US Players were reintroduced to online poker market... just thoughts. thx!

whats your favourite guest you have ever had on the show?

request to talk about backing info and tax consequence

hey guys love the show...and keep spitting out these 3 hour shows, defiantly helps the work days go by
quick question?
I hit Draftkingz for $55k last weekend in the RBC Canadian Open and the account is in my name, but I have a partner. Draftkingz is going to send me a 1099misc at the end of the year. I know that poker players often work in partnerships from time to time and I believe that is important to stay on the up and up when it pertains to money. How do we go about splitting the tax consequence? Is it easiest to send him a 1099 at the end of the year? I am not sure were to go from here and wondering if you could talk about it on the show or can you point me in the right direction to someone.

Thanks guys for the help and all the great content,
Love the poker news and all the special guest, but best segment has to be "Rosco Report" & "Stripper Trivia"

I've been playing poker for 50 years home games, low rent tourneys, locally and in LV. Been listening to Pokercast for many years and really like both the content and manner all you guys present. I've always thought tho that there must be tens of thousands of recreational (and regular) players who would have a lot to say about their experiences in the poker community but you've missed that demographic. Obviously the pros and big tournaments are of more general interest but there's a place for the dedicated poker player who has another "real" life too. I play with attorneys, judges, business men, physicians and all have both a love of the game and lots of interesting recreational type stories. Suggestion - find a few articulate guys, talk about the games played, what makes a good home game good, the variety of stakes, what are the low stakes local tourneys like, how does one venture into a significantly higher stakes game in LV, etc. I think there's lots there.

I listened to my first Pokercast ever -- 373 -- and I can't imagine why the hell I haven't been listening to this for years. Very solid job, fellas, very enjoyable.

Someone needs to tell Tuchman there's a difference between "exacerbate" and "exasperate." He flipped one word for the other on one of his commercials, pretty amusing. I have now added an item to my bucket list: be a guest on the PokerCast show. Not sure yet how I'll accomplish this.

I cannot believe with all those two plus two posts you have only listened to one episode.
They often run out of ideas and are always looking for new content. pretty sure soon there will be a segment called "lets speak with the guys from the forum" a quick 5 minute segment. Trust me its coming.

Just promise them some bacon....

hey guys just wanted to say I really enjoyed the courchevel format that was used in the invitational a couple weeks back. Was not aware of this game and had a sick time playing. The PLO5 was also great.

Keep up the great work with the show!

ps: I had won a ticket to Daniel's summer party but didn't manage to go in the end would've love to say hi to you guys, next time!

Hi guys

There is always this talk about bacon related food innovations. Why not try these out under the time the show is made. Terrence is probably not going to try these out but that just leaves out more to the rest of you. The tips are in Swedish so you might need to translate the site to understand some of the tips.

Thanks for a great show by the way!

Hey, what's up with last weeks show? No show on the 25th or 26th? You said at end of #377 that you'd be regularly hitting the pod-waves. What gives?

No place to do the show? Tech difficulties or iTunes problem or Sheldon Adelson!?! Oh no! He bought you guys off! ;P
