I don't think there is a forfeit scenario where you would lose your original bet. If you choose not to play, you don't win or lose anything; you're even. If you choose to play the hand, you have to, according to this scenario, split your tens. Playing two hands starting with a ten against the dealer's 9 will be profitable, so you should choose to play the hand rather than not play at all. Even though playing the hand and not splitting the tens would be the
most profitable play, it is
not an option in this scenario.
