Pokercast Episode 331 - Limon, Mike Leah and the 2014 Poker Hall of fame nominations

Live From the Two Plus Two Studios - Terrence Chan is back in the studio co-hosting with Adam as the guys tackle all the happenings in the poker universe this week. Abe "Limon" gets on the line for the feature interview to talk about grinding live PLO Cash in Los Angeles and tells some truly ridiculous stories that only a man who has spent a considerable amount of time in southern California card rooms could tell. Abe also talks about his involvement in Bart Hanson’s crushlivepoker.com and whether or not PLO could be the most popular game in North America. Mike "GoLeafsGoEh" Leah joins the show fresh off a $1M paycheck for finishing 2nd to Dan Colman at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open. Mike talks about his run at the tournament, the guarantee that wasn’t met and talks about Coleman’s play at the final table. Adam and Terrance also talk about Coleman’s ridiculous winning spree. We take a minute to switch games and talk about the upcoming $1M guaranteed Chess Tournament with PokerStars Mind Sports Ambassador, Jennifer Shahade. Jen talks about the issues that chess faces in becoming a game played with large cash prizes, as well as her own tournament she will be hosting that combines chess and poker. Adam and Terrance discuss the 2014 Poker Hall of Fame nominations, then take a stroll down page one of the News, Views and Gossip forum. Lee Jones also checks in from the Isle of Man to talk about WCOOP and what else is going on at PokerStars and finally the guy give out the password for the Sept 14 Pokerstars invitational for Pokercast listeners.

Sweet. Can't wait for the Limon interview. Over/under on the number of listeners he pisses off?

Third!

I *love* Limon! Who wouldn't?! …Though I like the over/under prop.

Thanks for getting the podcast out!!
Just found out I have 3 hour work road trip on my Friday night. Your favourite permanent host.

I had static throughout the whole podcast this one. Anyone else experience this? Mostly in the background whenever any one was talking. Really aggravating as it was a very good podcast. Made it hard to listen to. Adam and Terrence are killing it right now.

I'm still listening to the show right now, but Terrence Chan ranting on the soap box has me convinced he is the man for the job. You guys have a great chemistry and i think Terrence has really gotten into the role. I love his passion. Didn't realize he could get so fired up and i've listened to most of his appearances on the show over the years.

The transitions from segment to segment are seemless, it's great stuff. Did you say Adam that Terrence was just filling in? If he can do it, i reckon he should get the gig, or at least be the go to guy if he's available. So reassuring to know the Pokercast is in good hands. And keep up the excellent work Terrence, keep doing what your doing.

I like the NVG segment; NVG is the irregular heartbeat of 2+2 so i think it's cool to delve into a few threads each week. There's always something going on. You've got the High Stakes NVG Thread, that's always worth a look to see if there's been any good battles, big losses, crazy and confounding hands, new players on the scene or old players making a return to High Stakes.

Great job guys.

I heard all the limon appearances on deuce plays and I am going to predict a few stories that I remember and see how many get repeated

- sewage golf course
- guy putting chips in his mouth
- guy giving you his remaining chips because you asked
- high pressure timeshare guys

thats twice in two weeks you have mentioned the wonderful day that Party Poker opened up all the 30-60 tables! Can you remember when this was? And how long did it last?
The show is still unmissable, just a different emphasis. Personally i like the little snippets about the early days of online poker.
I am currently listening to limon's story about someone putting a bunch of yellow chips in his mouth and your interchange about the chips always being sticky anyway. Now I have never been in a poker room but you form a mental picture anyway and my faintly romantic picture has now just been blown away forever. I love this show.

Great show. Call-in quality was a bit off for some reason this week, but still a good time overall. Thanks!

I want to say the games went live late 2003/early 2004ish. Someone like Mike O'Malley would know for sure. Before that it was only 15/30 games, but an uncapped number of them, and they were all amazing. Keep in mind at this point that most pros still played 1-2 tables, and very very few played more than 4. So you had maybe 3-5 good pros at each table, and everyone else ranged from not-very-good to "wow, how does this guy even manage to turn his computer on in the morning".

And you didn't have to be a LHE wizard to make money hand over fist back then. There were lots of people boasting 40% ROIs in the $109 and $215 SNGs (including myself, and I sucked).

Can we take some of the millions saved by not paying MJ anymore and invest in a better phone/mic/recording system? Limon was great as expected, but the technical issues made it hard to listen to at times.

Eskimo Clark and Sam Grizzle on the "Mount Rushmore of Railbirds" needs a photoshop.

For the NVG segment, I'd recommend picking a couple threads on the front page that you have read or have something to say about, and talking about them. Listing threads you guys haven't read like some sort of "Top 10 list" that all of your listeners already have access to and most probably already have read seems like a waste of everyone's time.

Love the new show and love Terrance as a co-host.
