To be fair, it isn't like you guys often refer to each other by name on air. It probably took me a good 120 episodes for me to correctly identify which voice was which...

PS: Lol @ the "if you don't like hockey, tough" dig in the last couple minutes...

I've always wanted to call someone a raconteur and I'm glad I saved it for Neil Channing.

I could listen to that guy for a long time. Great show, he's my favorite guest and I enjoyed Vicky and Roland too. They really know how to tell a story and their vocabulary is really entertaining.

Mike and Adam do what interviewers who get paid millions can't do... generally stay out of the way and put their egos on the shelf. They let the guest entertain and have the confidence necessary to not interject themselves when it takes away from the guest. Since the guest isn't worried about being constantly interrupted they get into a relaxed flow that I find enjoyable.

Great job to all.

Best Podcast Ever!!!

England running the show.

Re The Smiths, "How soon is now?" would be #1 for me. Next in line would "Panic" and "Girlfriend in a coma". And of course, "This Charming Man" - who can ever forget the shock of seeing Mozza on TOTP for the first time, chucking flowers around.

Will listen to Neil on my flight home today but really enjoyed the others. I was pleasantly surprised by RDW who came across as quite charming - not what I expected by reputation. He even mentioned the Gutshot, so I am going to have to revise my opinion.

Thanks for a great show, guys!

Besides the pokercast I hardly follow any poker media that is not strictly strategy related. Very little WSOP on TV or HSP. But that's it. Often I dont know the guests before they come on to the show. Roldan DeWho? Alan Boston? Neil Channing? Never heard before. But wow! What great guests! I nearly fell in love with Vicky Coren's voice and whatever she said (It's a good thing my wife doesnt follow my poker activities lol). So thank you for giving me the ammount of gossip I obviously need. Especially because most TV poker "celebrities" (HSP, WSOP) bore me to death.

One of you two were laughing a bit too much during that.

And sorry I don't know you well enough to be able to tell which one it was. Don't get insulted if it wasn't you.

I think it is a bit from column A and a bit from column B. They aren't going to start hyping that a woman might make the final table w/ 10+ tables left, that usually happens on the day they are playing down to 27. So yes, she busted far too early to be considered a threat. And I don't think the looks helped gain extra footage, but it wasn't that she was completely ignored, she got her 5 minutes of air time.

I think this might be the best episode yet.
Vicky Coren was insanely good.
Also ofc obviously UK>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>U.S when it comes to music.
Especially the grimescene.

Her comment about the qualities required for being a good poker player matching typical feminine traits was very interesting but begs the follow up question- so why aren't more women sucessful at poker.

On the same topic her comment about Liv Borree having a degree in astro-physics made me realize that many of the top women players, herself ,Liv ,Vanessa Selbst, Vanessa Rousso are all exceptionally well educated wheras many of the top male players are very smart but are college dropouts.

Looking forward to the rest of the podcast.
Reminds me of a story I saw a day or two ago. For the first time ever, more women than men are now getting PhDs in the United States.

Maybe we have a different definition of middle-limit (I am thinking like 3/6?) but given the rake and lack of traffic I don't think it's quite fair to say there is good money to be made. An extremely good reg playing 8+ tables on stars (there are only maybe 15 running anyway) with supernova rakeback might max out at $50/hour? I guess that's not bad but it would be within reach for people playing microstakes NL like 50NL. Or am I way out of touch with LHE? I thought it was all rakeback pros winning 0.12bb/100 from each other.

Not trying to turn this into a hate-fest on LHE, just wondering.
$50/hour is a very good income, even in the United States. A work-year is usually calculated at 2,000 work hours. Given time for study, admin work, etc., lets say that Pokerpro Joe actually spends 1,000 hours/year at the tables. At $50/hour, that's $50k/year.

The median household income in the United States in 2009 was $49, 777.
