This week on Pokercast Mike and Adam discuss the massive number of participants in the online tournaments that took place over the weekend, including the $2 Million Turbo Takedown on Poker Stars. World Poker Tour commentator and poker ambassador Mike Sexton was the featured guest this week on Pokercast. Mike talks about several topics including the WPT moving to its new home on the Game Show Network, the controversial final table structure and some of his own poker principles. The guys wrap up the show talking about the L.A. Poker Classic, the chosen Super Nova qualifiers and give away the password for the Feb 24th Poker Stars VIP Club freeroll for Pokercast listeners.
I think we have the phone system finally dialed in. Of course it helps when the guest is a seasoned pro like Mike Sexton who didn't use speaker phone and spoke directly into the phone. I stayed at the studio for 2 extra hours and bounced the show in real-time down into one file. I think it really improved the overall audio quality. Have a listen and let me know what you guys think. If it's night and day compared to the older shows, I'll do the same every week. Looking forward to some feedback.
Here's the number of WPT events outside of the US per season:
Season 1 4 of 13
Season 2 4 of 14
Season 3 4 of 16
Season 4 3 of 16
Season 5 2 of 16
Season 6 3 of 19
Also nice of Mike to decide to not consider any events not WSOP or WPT related as part of poker's "major" events.
My opinion on what you can make as the "majors" with the equivalent to golf:
WSOP $50k HORSE (Masters)
WSOP $10k Main Event (US Open)
EPT Monte Carlo Main Event (British Open)
WPT $25k World Championship (PGA)
Make the top 64 players of those 4 events take part in the Headsup Championship (best 2 of 3, 3 of 5 for the title)(World Golf Championships Match Play)

Wow! It's night and frickin' day. What did you do - finally hire a proper sound engineer? It finally sounds cohesive.
Now, if only you could re-record those horrific sounding voiceover commercials... painful!
Keep up the good work guys...and GREAT production!
Sound and volume both much improved with this episode. I enjoyed the Mike Sexton interview, especially when he was contrasting the past and present Poker scene. Good work, guys!
Thanks for the feedback...I couldn't clean up some of the files they sent me very much...maybe TT can "RE-MASTER!" them
lol.... I wish it was that easy! Once a source is distorted we cant clean it up.
the Stars commercials are recorded by professional voiceover artists who work for advertising agencies. We all admit the strategy segments sound is usually not up to par, its a factor we are willing to accept. The 2+2 authors are known for their ability to communicate concepts, not their recording and voice over skills. On the bright side Stoxtrader did buy a new microphone based on our suggestions for the future :_)

This show was a classic. Mike Sexton is a true professional and a Mike and Adam showed they are professionals in their own right with a great line of questioning. The production was bang on, which is to say it wasn't noticable.
nice going

Please don't ever make me listen to a tip from Colin Mushmouth again. I thought I walked into a cave and was listening to Bigfoot give a poker seminar.
Hey, what's the music clip after the first break? Think I've heard it before, but I'd like to add it to my collection. Love listening to iTunes while I play online
Hey man, about the two Brazilian victories on the freerolls...
You Know that we can speak english right?
And that we have a brazillian PS Blog, and that we have a Brazillian Team Poker Stars Player (Andre Akkari), and two Brazilian Team Party Poker Players (Christian Kruel and Raul Oliveira), and that Leandro Pimentel made the final table on one USD1500,00 WSOP event and we had a lot of ITM finishes on the Main Event in 2006.
You must know that even though you don't speak portuguese, a lot of us speak english, study and play a lot of poker and we were listeners to Rounders the poker show... and we are heaving a load of good results, just like the Wednesday Nightly 150K Grtd a few weeks ago, taken by a Brazilian player, AllInGomes.
And I didn't even mention Deu_Zebra that won an FTOPS Omaha Hi event, Maridu (check P5's rankings) and igorfederal (please, check OPR).
So... it's not strange to see back to back Brazilian victories in the Pokercast Freerolls, specially because we all got there grinding, and we all know how to play a little poker.

I guess.
But thanks for the credit.
When we were chatting about back to back winners from Brazil, I don't recall either of us saying or insinuating in any way that they couldn't play. Apologies as it appears you took some sort of offence.

The first thing I thought of:
"It puts the lotion in the basket."
Interesting tip, the audio was a little disturbing.
Good stuff, Mike. I didn't know that was Vampire Weekend. I have their song Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, which is also pretty good. I'll definately have to pick up the album!
The Killers are also a great band. I think you mentioned them in the cast as well.
Check out Rouge Wave, Sea Wolf, and Spoon. You might like 'em, or probably know about them already. Great new ablums from all of them.
Loved the poker in your pokercast too. Good stuff all around.
