Episode #472 - September 15th, 2017

Live from the Two Plus Two Studios - This week on the Pokercast: Resurfacing on the Pokercast with some amazing stories as always, Roland de Wolfe returns! We have been on a slight break due to technical issues, but we're back with a new format for you! We've got updates on the happenings of Adam and T-Chan before getting into the news. The main focus of the poker world right now during the off season is Poker Masters, we talk about Daniel Negreanu’s prop bets and who would wear that jacket?
Our feature guest is Roland De Wolfe, fresh off of prop betting with Tom Dwan at mini golf earlier today. If you are new to poker and never saw Roland on TV back in the day you’re in for a treat, same goes if you already know of Roland. A fixture of the high stakes tournament and cash community for years before stepping away, Roland has stories from all of the big names in poker that you’d never hear otherwise. We bring him back on the show from London to chat about what he’s been up to.

I saw this thread earlier today and saw Roland De Wolfe and assumed it was a bumped old thread. Just opened it up to see what the bump was and...hey new show!

The don't name earthquakes because they don't see them coming days in advance.

Also, the Poker Masters jacket looks pretty standard for the Matt Berkey wardrobe.

Some of them get names.

The Great San Francisco Earthquake.

Thw World Series Quake..."We're having an Errr..." aka 1989 Loma Prieta, but I remember being called something else, Bay something.

The Great Alaska Earthquake.

Never James or Bob, though.

Yeah, but they were named afterwards..

Hurricanes are so predictable they even have a system for naming them, moving through the alphabet. They have the rest of the alphabet already mapped out for which name they're going to use.

I liked when Adam asked about penetrating the market and started to laugh a bit, assumed he realized what he was saying and had a quick flashback

Came here just to post exactly this. Adam had a very subtle chuckle, me not nearly as much. Well played sir.

Still remember that day very vividly. I had a fever, and stayed home from school because of it. So when everything moved, I thought it was just me being woozy. When my sister reacted, and then I heard Al Michaels get cut off on the broadcast (he was delayed by a few seconds), we knew what had happened. The coolest part at our house was seeing the water in the pool sloshing over the side.

I still always marvel at the timing of that thing, though. With the A's and Giants playing each other in the Series, an inordinate number of people in the Bay Area had gone home early to watch the game. On any other day, that would have been rush hour. I can't imagine how many more people would have been caught in the MacArthur Maze when the chunk of the Nimitz Freeway collapsed, or how many more cars would have been stuck in the usual Bay Bridge logjam.

We felt that thing all the way down in LA. I was sitting on a school bus and the driver had the game on. We also had that cool effect where you hear the broadcaster's reaction first before the vibration reaches your location. Sounds like you were much closer. It has been too long for me to remember how long it was before we felt it.
