Hey myx,
First, I want to thank you for listening to the show for so many years. You're exactly the type of loyal listener we do this week after week for.
I'm sorry you were offended by the talk about someone killing animals for food. People aren't going to agree with every viewpoint we take each week. When you listen to a podcast host (I have several shows I've listened to for a very long time as well, so I can put myself in your shoes here) for years invariably you're going to be offended by, or disagree strongly with something they say. I live with two vegetarians, so I have the "animals for food" discussion often!
As the hosts get older and we play less poker, other things that interest us end up being the things we enjoy talking about. I'd venture to say the show hasn't been 100% about poker in many years and if it had to be all poker the podcast would have ended a long time ago. Some weeks its going to 60% poker-related, others it will be 80%.
Mike, Terrence, Ross and myself have always just done it without thinking too much about maximizing downloads or placating to a portion of the audience and if people enjoy listening to it, great. If not, no problem as there are lots of shows out there that people can find that are more focused on a singular topic. I guarantee this has cost us in total number of listeners over the years, but I think we're all ok with that as the goal really never was to get to a billion downloads or whatever. For example, I haven't checked our numbers in months. This isn't to say podcasters who are focused on that sort of thing are wrong, they just have different reasons for doing their show is all.
Anyway, longwinded way to say I hope you continue to listen and to occasionally disagree with stuff we say!
