Pokercast 470 - The Return of Dwan, Lockweather & Loose Leon Pokercast 470 - The Return of Dwan, Lockweather & Loose Leon

I personally like listening to them going off on tangents unrelated to poker from time to time.

I've been hearing their voices on a bi-weekly (ICWYDT) basis for so many years now I feel they are apart of my weekly life and ritual and get enjoyment of hearing them discuss personal and life stories, may it be T expecting a child, living off the grid, unrelated podcasts they enjoy, betting on the Chicago's.....you get the point. It's also free ffs and they do a tremendous job keeping us up to date with all the current events.

Don't change a thing guys. Keep up the good work!

Hey myx,

First, I want to thank you for listening to the show for so many years. You're exactly the type of loyal listener we do this week after week for.

I'm sorry you were offended by the talk about someone killing animals for food. People aren't going to agree with every viewpoint we take each week. When you listen to a podcast host (I have several shows I've listened to for a very long time as well, so I can put myself in your shoes here) for years invariably you're going to be offended by, or disagree strongly with something they say. I live with two vegetarians, so I have the "animals for food" discussion often!

As the hosts get older and we play less poker, other things that interest us end up being the things we enjoy talking about. I'd venture to say the show hasn't been 100% about poker in many years and if it had to be all poker the podcast would have ended a long time ago. Some weeks its going to 60% poker-related, others it will be 80%.

Mike, Terrence, Ross and myself have always just done it without thinking too much about maximizing downloads or placating to a portion of the audience and if people enjoy listening to it, great. If not, no problem as there are lots of shows out there that people can find that are more focused on a singular topic. I guarantee this has cost us in total number of listeners over the years, but I think we're all ok with that as the goal really never was to get to a billion downloads or whatever. For example, I haven't checked our numbers in months. This isn't to say podcasters who are focused on that sort of thing are wrong, they just have different reasons for doing their show is all.

Anyway, longwinded way to say I hope you continue to listen and to occasionally disagree with stuff we say!

Hey Tee, we raise goats but live on the grid and keep the horns. They serve a purpose; protection from predators and cooling in the summer as they have a blood supply to dissipate some heat.

Adam, we home-school too. Minimal socialization probs. Kids can play at local high school. Much fewer illnesses, colds, flus, etc. not being around runny nosed kids and teens with mono.

Peace, out...

Hi Adam,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful response, it is truly appreciated. The fact that none of you care much about analytics makes me respect you all even more. I love the show, it should not be sanitised, but by the time we got to bow and deer, I though 'man, this is hard to listen to this week'. Your household being diverse in respect of lifestyle choices is what prompted me to give some feedback in case we, your audience, appeared more monolithic than perhaps is the case. I'm glad you understood where I was coming from.

Hi guys-

Pleas re-name the podcast "AdamSpeedingStoriesCast" so that we will always hear about Adam's misadventures on the roads.

Thanks

Note that I know nothing about boxing and MMA.

At least I know who to blame when I lose (other than myself).
So, I am now a net winner of $44.44 at sports betting. I guess I should now retire. Or should I get some coaching from Ross?

Retire plz. Well, until next March.

I'm still unable to download from iTunes.

Is there an ETA on a remedy?

Cannot download on iTunes, and this episode is not listed on Stitcher...

I've had the iTunes problem with a lot of podcasts.
Unsubbing and resubbing sorted it out most of the time.

Same error here.

I've tried un-subscribing and re-subscribing with no success.

Love the podcast, talk about whatever the hell you want as far as I'm concerned.

For those having problems, what OS, etc?

I haven't had these issues on my computer (Mac OS 10.11), at least for this particular podcast. On the other hand, I've had a few shows that appeared on my comp's iTunes but not on my phone or iPad (iOS, whatever is newest). Sometimes it took a day or two for the phone to catch up. Not sure why, it just did.

Methinks Ross et al can be more helpful if he can pinpoint who and what configurations are having problems.

As a general rule when you are telling someone about a problem related to any kind of technology you should provide as much specific information as possible. Can't count how many times people have told me that "I can't do this" or "I'm getting an error doing that" or "this is broken" without providing any of the type of information I actually need to troubleshoot their issue.

I have been having this problem on iTunes for weeks. Episode 469 downloaded fine, but shortly after that (Aug 10) iTunes was erroring when refreshing the podcast.

My config:
Windows 10 Home, Version 1703, OS Build 15063.540
iTunes 12.6.2.20
Podcast URL (from right-click in iTunes) = https://pokercast.twoplustwo.com/pokercast.rss
The error I receive when refreshing the podcast is:
There was a problem downloading "The Two Plus Two Pokercast". An unknown error occurred (0x80090318).

Please check that the URL is correct and the connection to the network is active and try again.
As of this post all my other podcasts are updated. And unsubscribing/resubscribing to the podcast does not resolve the issue.
