The Canucks actually improved for the future with the Lu trade (counting the space freed on the cap), but this is a move that illustrates pretty well imo the Canucks season. It looks to me that the players have given up on Tortorella. Not playing Luongo during the outdoor game against Ottawa seems a classless move by reckless coach.

Will Kesler leave? (I'd sure take him in Montreal. Wouldn't you like to have Plekanec in a Vancouver jersey? )

P.S. Who would've thought one year ago that both Luongo and Schneider would be gone?

No, but you can recycle old "Florida Panthers" Luongo jerseys!

Talking about the Panthers, it's too bad they traded Tim Thomas. I'm sure he would have made a good road roommate for Luongo.

I watched the Leafs play in San Jose last night. While it was a tough spot with game day travel and playing in Anaheim the night prior, they are just a god-awful team. they literally never have the puck and just get peppered every night by the opposition. Phaneuf has to be the most overrated player in the game. Watched him skating. he just lumbers around. No smothness or fluidity to his game like the Keiths, Doughtys and Pietrangelos of the west. How he's getting their type of money is ridiculous.

i'm not sure how the Leafs actually win any games at all. Goalies must stand on their head.

The thing is, yes, the Leafs are pretty mediocre, but:

1) We're used to it (but we're used to have the Canucks contending for their division or at least lock a playoffs spot)

2) The Leafs being in the East, they blend well in a sea of mediocre teams. In fact, it's wide open in the East. Aside from the Bruins who are well-balanced, it's a lottery. Even the Pens could be in a world of trouble if Ugly Fleury shows for the playoffs.

You're spot on about Phaneuf. If you look at the D-men who made team Canada at Sochi, only Subban was from the East and, even then, he was the 7th defenseman and played 1 game. Yes, the West is that much stronger, this is why the Canucks look even worse compared to the powerhouses in their conference (Anaheim, San Jose, LA, St-Louis, Chicago). Even Colorado is keeping pace with those good teams.

A comeback for the ages by the Habs last night! Trailing by 3 with less than 3:30 to play only to win in OT. The tying goal with 0.3 sec left. The Sens are probably still wondering what happened to them.

What a better team than the Habs to halt the Bruins' win streak. And with their backup goalie nonetheless...

Nice. Saw that on Sports Center while eating breakfast.

Looks like Habs could go from being 'Canada's team' to 'Canada's only team' this post-season.

Sad but true. The Leafs seem on a downward spiral. The injury to Bernier hurts them...

Mike, Adam, if the Canucks don't make it to the big dance, will you rally behind the Habs? If not, what team(s) would you cheer for in the postseason?

Would never cheer for the Habs.

Teams in order of hatred:

1. Calgary

(really hate them)

(with the fire of 1000 suns)

(the fact they won a cup tilts me on a daily basis)

2. Toronto
3. Montreal
4. Chicago
5. Boston
6. New Jersey

Teams I will root for this year:

1. Colorado - Love the group of kids they have and Pat Roy tilts the league
2. St Louis - They've never won and have a great team

Why so much hate for the Habs, Adam? (And ironic that you'll be rooting for a team coached by an all-time great Hab who has his jersey retired.)

About the Flames Cup:

My dad once came back from work and told me he had tickets for the Habs next game, which was the next day. 2nd row tickets with the board 2 feet from us.
It was during the Spring of 1989.
It was the 6th game against the Flames.
Yes I saw the Flames with the Cup and MacInnis with the Conn Smythe trophee.
Yes it was the only Cup to this day to be won on Montreal's home ice.
Yes I still dream about Lanny McDonald scoring high on slap shots.
I was 14 years old at the time...

Spoiler:
At least I got redemption in '93.
Spoiler:
I was rooting so much for the Canucks in '94. Still remember Bure hitting 2 posts in the 7th game.

I like the Habs. Would cheer for them over Boston, Pittsburgh, NY Rangers, Detroit, Tampa Bay, Toronto in the east(of current playoff teams). And over Chicago, LA, Anaheim, Colorado in west.

I have a soft spot for Sharks and Blues(and Wild to a lesser extent) when it comes to the playoffs since, like the Canucks they have never won the cup. Little bit for Flyers fans since it's been almost 40 years and they are a loyal fan base. I would cheer for these teams and their fan bases over Habs.

You can't swing a dead cat in the league without hitting a Hab with his number retired.

Grew up in a house with a step father (Dan's dad) who is a rabid Habs fan. Lots of trash talk with him, going to the Canucks/Habs games and seeing half the crowd in crimson, having to watch them every Saturday night etc etc.

I would love to crush Edmonton, but I equally like to see them succeed. There's no pleasure in thumping a gimp.

You can't get away from Leafs, Habs, even Hawks, Wings and Bruins fans around here. It doesn't bother me, much. You hardly ever see Rangers fans, but a few Clarke and Hextall inspired Flyers fans and some unfathomably for the Devils.

Leafs on TV makes my eyes roll. The announcers come in here and can't pronounce names, Tkachuk comes to mind. They still have the one guy who comes in and knows less than nothing. You can't blame the Leafs, but ffs Toronto. You want TO to do really well, and then blow a 3 goal lead. That was the collective will of the rest of the country.

Same here. I'm a die hard Sens fan so I'm sort of indifferent when it comes to a lot of Western Conference teams, but the situation in Edmonton has stayed so bad for so long now that it's almost too embarrassing to watch. If there's one thing I've realized over the past five years through watching pro sports, it's the importance of maintaining a strong front office. Teams with strong front offices like the New England Patriots tend to succeed year after year while teams whose front offices are in disarray (Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars) tend to suck. Colorado and Edmonton were for the most part in similar positions for the last five or so; both teams perennial basement-dwellers who were stocking up top 5 picks every year. This year, though, Colorado decides to shake-up their front office by hiring Joe Sakic and Patrick Roy, and BOOM, they've got a winning team again.

Penguins and James Neal do a twitter AMA

The result is hilarious

My personal favorite has to be:

Nemo @nemoeye

A train leaves NYC traveling at 97 mph, another train leaves LA traveling at 76 mph, when do you headshot the child riding coach? #AskNeal

What MJ said.

Fat Bufflin fly-by tilted me to the core
03-27-2014 , 05:04 PM

Think Magic only had 98 assists that one year he played with Bossy and Trottier

If you can hate on Buff, you're living wrong.
