Mrs. JD tweeted it at me today minutes after the decision. I think she was disappointed when we did hit one up for lunch. ("Tim Whoretons").

Hey Canadians - I'm a jury member on the Polaris Music Prize. Almost time to make my 5 picks for Canadian album of the year for June 1 2011 - May 31, 2012. Any suggestions?

So far I am thinking:
Joel Plaskett - Scrappy Happiness
Islands - A Sleep and A Forgetting
John K Samson - Provincial
Teenburger - Frights

Are they allowing the Joel Plaskett release as a proper album due to how it was released? I think they should.

I'd consider
Grimes - Visions
Arkells - Michigan Left
Yukon Blonde - Tiger Talk
Bahamas - Barchords
Patrick Watson - Adventures In Your Own Backyard
Dan Mangan - Oh Fortune
Said The Whale - Little Mountain
****ed Up - David Comes To Life (but they've won before)

Yeah they are. It was released properly as an album once it was compiled.

David Comes to Life was great. I love this band, but don't know about this album. Grimes is great, too.

What's the mandate of Polaris again? (too lazy too search). I seem to think it was for emerging artists, or I could have imagined that.

Simply looks to recognize the best Canadian album of the year. Only criteria is Canadian album (EPs don't count) that came out within the time period.

Yeah, Ron Sexsmith and Destroyer made the shortlist last year. It was their 12th and 9th albums respectively.

Yeah, it's true that the guy seems in the middle of the road. Could be hit by an 18-wheeler IMO.

What's almost as important as poker?

Bacon of course.

This is important enough that it should at least merit "breaking news" status on the next pokercast.

Story here: http://mashable.com/2012/09/25/bacon-shortage-twitter/

Stock up while you still can...

Cheers.

Bacon shortages on the horizon.

Time to start stocking up. Anyone done any research on freezers with optimal bacon capacity?
