Re: The end of the Pokercast??
Thanks Adam, MJ, TChan, Bunner, Ross and everyone else who made the PokerCast possible! Incredible show and run!
The PokerCast got me into podcasts. It was something I looked forward to every week and it made me enjoy my long commute to work in 2010-2012. After I changed jobs it was my standard "mow the grass podcast." Will definitely miss these guys! Thanks again!

I guess a subscription based format is out of the question? I would gladly throw $5-10/ month on Patreon to contribute like other podcasts have.

Re: The end of the Pokercast??
Such a bummer.
Thanks guys. I’ve literally listened to every episode since the radio days. More than a decade.
Would LOVE to have one last goodbye episode with MJ.

This got me curious.
Sam Rice retired after reaching 2,987 career hits. Sam Crawford (who I often mistake with Sam Rice) had 2,961. Both players came from an era that predated 3,000 being considered a historic milestone. Frank Robinson (2,943) and Barry Bonds (2,935) are more recent players who probably could have reached that circle, but didn't.
MLB's other vaunted milestone, the 300-win club, doesn't really have an equivalent. Bobby Matthews could not have known in 1887 that his final win total would have sat on the cusp of arbitrary round-number greatness. Meanwhile, the ironically named Early Wynn hung around a tad too long trying to get there.
Lou Gehrig and Fred McGriff each stopped at 493 career home runs. Gehrig had a doctor's note, though. Meanwhile, the Crime Dog lives on as an avatar here on 2+2 somewhere (can't remember who).
Rocky Marciano retired with a 49-0 record. Oh if only there existed his generation's version of Conor McGregor to get him to that even 50, but noooooo.
In the National Handegg League, Randall Cunningham threw for 29,979 passing yards. Not that there is any real celebrated cutoff for 30K in the way MLB holds up 300 wins or 3,000 hits. But still. Probably would like one of those third-down quick kicks back.
Eric Moulds ended up at 9,995 career receiving yards. And looking at that list, it dawns on me that 10K in that category doesn't seem as impressive now as it did when I was a kid. Figure that Don Maynard was the all-time leader back when I first started following sports. Now, he ranks 28th.
Clinton Portis logged 9,923 rushing yards. The crazy part is that he seemed destined to end up in the all-time top 10 until he got slammed by the injury bug. So in a different way, he's lucky to have flirted with the 10K list at all.
Moses Malone retired at 29,580 career points. Then again, he split that up between two leagues, so he wouldn't have thought of nearing any type of milestone. Similarly, Artis Gilmore wrapped it up at 24,941 points between the ABA and NBA.
In 16 years in the NHL, Glenn Anderson netted 498 career goals. He should have borrowed a page from Lanny McDonald, who finished right at 500. By the way, when Lanny used to get announced, the older fans always heard "Yaurel."

If I understand correctly, it's Obama's fault that they don't have more free time?
Anyways, I've been listening for less than a year. Has anyone come up with a list of the top episodes for digging into the archives?

Re: The end of the Pokercast??
First off thanks to Adam, Mike, Bunner, Terrence and Ross for the 10 years plus of shows. I couldn't imagine how ****ty my commutes or long time underway would have been without the countless hours of content you put out.
Now for some questions/comments:
To quote Mason
"Unfortunately, times have changed and the poker world has slowed down a great deal. Eric Holder's Justice Department, which was part of the Obama administration, did a great deal of damage to our industry and to our show when they shut down the major Internet poker sites in 2011. So that today I'm officially announcing the suspension of the Two Plus Two PokerCast."
- Times haven't "changed" that was over 7 years ago. I was still happily married to my previous wife when black friday happened. The pokercast spent more than half of its existence since times have changed so I don't really view this as a valid reason.
-Did the show really get cancelled because of the whole MF'er N word discussion? That sucks but at least be honest on where you stand. I can empathize with that reason because at some level you have to protect your brand, but at least be honest on the reason. Between that and the sporadic episodes and life shifts of the hosts I can understand that the show had to end, but I really wish we could have gotten one last "good-bye" episode.
How long until the poker cast forum section is closed?
Is it possible to syndicate the podcast (just auto post a random one from the archives once or twice a week?) I know some good blogs that did that after the blogger "retired" and I find it a good way to stay fresh as opposed to just manually starting over from the beginning.

Someone in the know can correct me if I'm wrong but I really don't think this is the case. It was a mutual parting of ways. The guys were really struggling to find the time to record the show because life has gotten busy. Adam has the hockey thing, Terrence a baby and Ross a job.

Re: The end of the Pokercast??
The last show and the discussion in it had nothing to do with the decision to end the podcast, not sure why anyone would think that.

Sure, but I hope at this point that if that was the case our listeners would expect us to say something like "2+2 and the hosts have a difference of opinion on the content of the show, so we're parting ways".

Re: The end of the Pokercast??
yea not doing a 500th episode including mike and look back at some highlights seems like such a missed opportunity. regardless, thanks for 499 episodes, gonna miss my fav podcast. on a side note- any1 else got a strange vibe from MM feeling the need to bring obama administration into this? kind strange but fitting i guess lol

Re: The end of the Pokercast??
If the Pokercast is legitimately ending, they should do a 500th episode. If the Pokercast is legitimately suspended, then they should save the 500th episode for the return of the Pokercast.

Re: The end of the Pokercast??
Thank you so much to everyone for putting in the effort to create this for so long.
So many great memories. The old pokercast league. Sick houses in Thailand. The tinychat room was twitch before twitch. The potato. So much bacon. MJ's music lists. Penetrating the female market. Pokercast karma. Laughing in tears about Kathy's great twitter.
Will really miss the pokercast.

Re: The end of the Pokercast??
I've been an avid listener since getting into poker a few years ago. This show was my guide to the world of poker, and introduced me to so much. Sad to see it go, but understand the reasons behind it.
Thanks for the memories.

Re: The end of the Pokercast??
add me to the people disappointed that the show is over. I came to podcasts embarrassingly late (maybe only 18 months ago) but this has been by far my favourite poker pod.
congratulations and thanks to all involved

Thanks for clarifying Guess I'm just going through some stages of grief right now. I always assumed the pokercast would just end when Alan Boston got a "first round lock" wrong.
Next stage of grief is bargaining.... Mason, if I promise to vote straight republican, including Trump, can we get the pokercast back??? (ignore my location and the fact that I can really have no effect on electoral outcomes)
I can totally relate to having kids, family, and life stuff get in the way of finding time to do something you enjoy. I haven't played a round of golf since my son was born. Best of luck to all of you.
Where should I donate to in order to appease the pokercast run good spirits in the future?
