Points are different and 1st place is different

Here's the whole score sheet: Click Here

If FerencL can share his individual scores then we can hopefully spot the difference and get to the bottom of this.

If anyone else spots any errors then just shout them out...

This is where I got my points from: http://www.globalpokerindex.com/wsop/

last updated 20th July which is more recently than FerencL posted his final scores

Just spotted a misspelled Ryan Riess. That's fixed now on my sheet and doesn't do anything to the money spots

This is where my list of players is. You might want to use that to check your scores. I'll use yours to check mine.

OK all finished.
There are 9 players on those two teams with different scores:
Four are easy. Vornicu,Painter,Ivey and Clements cashed in event #7 and I've stated a few times here, the leaderboard guy forgot event #7. My scores are correct.
Five players played in events that generated no GPI points. However, the leaderboard guy decided to award points anyway. He used the little calculator on the side of the leaderboard page. Sure enough, when you put in Bonomo's results for the 1 Drop you get exactly the difference between his GPI points and his WSOP Leaderboard points. The little side calculator ignores the fact that there were just 27 entries.
The five players and the non-GPI cashes were:
Glaser - Tag Team
Porter - Tag Team
Anderson - online
Smith - One Drop
Bonomo - One Drop

So, it looks like everything is OK. The leaderboard guy just went rogue!
This again shows how we should not be using outside scoring calculators. I like PascalKid's idea of using the 25K Fantasy scoring system. We should be teaming with Daniel and ODB to create a 3rd level of that pool ($20 online).

So I have looked closely at the points, how the points have been awarded and the wording of the rules, but it's clear that gamblingmonkey thinks that there is perhaps a degree of injustice to the situation.

For that reason I am going to give all the information to an impartial arbiter and they shall be the ruling decision on the matter.

I am going to ask TChan how he would interpret the rules and provided I can get a response within the next week I will follow his decision. If I cannot get a response from him in the next week or his response comes back as "I don't know" then we will follow what I feel is fairest which I will keep to myself for now.

I trust that everyone finds this acceptable...

So I reached out to the GPI and TChan to do my due diligence on this thing. I was of the opinion that the One Drop shouldn't count given the information on their website and the wording of the rules set at the outset of this. The only place in which the points existed was on that leader board. On the event page for the one drop and on the player page for those who cashed in the one drop the points did not exist, nor should they exist by their own rules. The GPI leader board has a number of errors which FerencL has spotted (Event 7, tag teams, online and one drop). I have checked and am confident that the leader board that FerencL has posted is accurate and is the one we are going with.

I got no response from the GPI.

Here is the response from TChan which agrees with the decision (he was not made aware of my leanings before making his decision and didn't enter so is completely impartial):

Combining this with your statement in the original rules/signup thread, I believe the fairest decision would be to not include One Drop points since it did not meet the 32 player criterion.
Those getting paid:

1 PascalKid
2 gamblingmonkey
3 PokerBrat
4 Rabble303
5 The Mentaculus
6 AllInNTheDark

I will contact all to ask for their preferred method of payment and will ship the $$ asap

thanks for playing all

I also do think this is the fairest way to handle and believe it or not, not only because I win it this way...
As I've mentioned before I guess I have been very very lucky in this thing at the end. I can imagine GamblingMonkey has a different opinion and feels as the moral winner.

Thanks a lot for all your efforts you put in this thing every year! I will be back in it next year for sure.
Also a big shout out for FerencL! Good job guys!

Third party arbitration fair way to resolve. Good job everyone.

Good job Xander (and TChan). Disappointing for gamblingmonkey but it's good to see that we stuck by the original rules.
But, for the millionth time I must restate that we should not be using other people's secret formulas. Both the WSOP anf GPI use secret formulas that we cannot duplicate if need be. The 25K Fantasy uses a formula that is not secret. We can easily add it to our spreadsheet or database program. We should use that formula or any other that we have control over.

payments have begun and should be completed within the next couple of days.

All those being paid on PayPal should have received their money (minus fees and currency conversion fluxuations)

I've begun paying people on PokerStars but I'm limited to paying $215 a day and so it will take me another 2 days to finish the pay outs.

Sorry for the delay but I didn't hear back from 1 player about their preferred method of payment so I'm going to pay them the way they paid me and assume that's ok.

paid out another player, but there are weekly and monthly limits that are making this thing a pain

have requested a limit increase from stars

watch this space

Getting limits increased turns out to be not as simple as I first thought.

I have paid out another player today.

I have 1 partial payment left to make which I will do as soon as the stars cashier allows me to

Guess that last payment is for me..? No worries, just send it when you're able to do so
08-16-2018 , 07:13 AM
It is indeed you

I have learnt a lot of lessons on how to make this run smoother in the future, but unfortunately I think this will be the last one since I doubt this forum will be open/active next year.

If there's any consolation in having to wait for your money it would be that you'll indefinitely be the reigning champ.

Even though I didn't play, thanks for the hard work xander. I did this last year with a larger number of people and it was quite the task to keep everything straight, especially since people aren't exactly clear with their username on 2p2 vs. paypal and having to make a lot of assumptions regarding who paid what and when.

Final payment has finally be made.

I have moved home this summer and didn't really have the time or facilities or desire to send PokerStars a bunch of documentation to hopefully get approved for higher transfer limit.

Today the 30 day limit expired and I was able to pay Pascalkid the remainder of his money. Thanks for your patience and congrats again for winning.
