Winrate down after getting more aggro 200 Winrate down after getting more aggro 200

Over my first 100K hands at 200NL, I ran about 16/6 and was very successful. I started paying more attention to this forum and noticed that just about everyone advocates raising more preflop. So I decided to give this a try and over my last 50K hands or so I've been running about 16/13 and my winrate has dropped dramatically. I am spewing a lot more than I used to, getting overflushed all the time, and (most importantly) getting floated often by bottom pair when I have overs or air. I've tried to turn up my turn aggression, which has helped somewhat, but I'm still not winning as much as I used to playing a tighter, more passive style.

Can someone explain why, at 200NL, it is suggested that one raises 13%+ of their hands. I think enough people overplay their hands enough in limped pots that raising so much might not be necessary. What adjustments might I try to have more success at the more aggro style. Anyone have a similar experience?

Just to let you know I thought the same thing, but one of the better players at 1/2 on full tilt who posts here, Narena, runs at 18/6 or something close to that. I think its a matter of choice and if you're winning consistently with a certain style then there is no reason to change. I think where you might run into trouble is in higher limits where more passive players get run over.

A similar thing happened to me. I was playing a 16/6 style, running fairly well, started reading 2+2, got more aggro, raised more pots, insta won like 8-9 buy ins at 100NL and moved up to 200NL where I've been playing a little better then break even at 18/13 for 15K hands and having all the same problems you just spoke about. I'm going to stay with this style because I think it'll help when I move up to 2/4 and beyond, but its requiring more work on my part. Things I've been trying to fix.

1) Figuring out when to Cbet. You're raising a lot more, people will call more, sometimes its best not to cbet.

2) Figuring out when to fire again on the turn with nothing/weak hand. Do you have "fold to cbet" in your HUD? If a person floats a lot its not a bad idea to fire again to let them know your not messing around.

3) Figuring out when to float someone. Again, do you have "%cbet flop" and "%cbet turn" in HUD? A lot of times the first is very high and the next is very low meaning they give up a lot on the turn so you can float the flop and fire if checked to you on the turn.

Let me know how it goes and if you have any other ideas. I'd also like to know if I'm missing any area of my game i should really be working on.

people make too much emphasis on stats

every person is going to have a different style, if you're gonna play more aggro you have to be much better at reading hands and finding thin value spots

flop textures are very important when cbetting

100k and 50k samples really aren't that big

If you were very successful then I don't see why you would change a thing unless you plan on moving up sometime soon. At the very least go from 16/6 to like 16/8 for a while instead of directly to 16/13.
