Hi guys,

I am curious what you guys typically play as an optimal session length.

For me i struggle with 1.5hours+ as my concentration diminishes rapidly. Its just too draining for me to maintain a 10/6 style over any length of time.

When I used to play 12 - 16 tables on FT I often had long sessions of 6 hours+, but now playing 24 full stacked on Stars I'd finding that 2 hours at a time is probably optimal. (NB: Short stackers should be able to play until they fall asleep.)

Yeah, I find i can cope with around 1 hour of 6 tables of 6-max and 1-1.5 hours of 14 tables of FR.
01-28-2009 , 05:26 AM
somewhere between 1-3 hours
01-28-2009 , 05:28 AM
2-3 hrs, 1 hr im just getting warmed up
01-28-2009 , 05:31 AM
1.5 hours imo. Anything after and I start to nit it up and be content with my stacks on the tables and play avoidance poker. Sometimes I play longer, but I take a 5-10 min break to clear my head.

12 tabling i can do for many hours, 24 2 hours or less
01-28-2009 , 05:38 AM
my average session is 3-5 hours but I sometimes do up to 12 hours in a day (old WoW habits have made their way into the pokerz)

8 to 16 tables

why is there no bastard option

I usually play till I get winners tilt. srsly
01-28-2009 , 06:07 AM
no less than 1hour option you bots?
01-28-2009 , 06:18 AM
i've been doing a single 5hr session per day for the last month or so and it works good
01-28-2009 , 06:55 AM
you guys are so ill, I wish I could force myself to play more
01-28-2009 , 07:01 AM
2-3 hours but I'm trying to work on my endurance to get that to 3-4. Would make a huge difference in my volume
01-28-2009 , 09:48 AM
2h on week days, 4h on Saturday night. Will try to play more on week days
01-28-2009 , 11:01 AM
I usually play 1-3 hours per session. Sometimes I will put in 2 of those a day with one coming around 12-2 then one later in the night.
01-28-2009 , 11:09 AM
Depends on how good the tables are but usually I try to keep it under 2 hours.
01-28-2009 , 11:23 AM
2h on week nights and 4h on weekend nights. the more i drink the longer i can play...
01-28-2009 , 11:57 AM
Usually about an hour and a half then take a little break.

Will usually play longer sessions at night/weekends when they games are softer though. Will also stick around for as long as it takes if there are any fish sitting on big stacks.

1.5 hours and then i start donating. i wish i'd just nit it up
01-28-2009 , 01:26 PM
When you guys says something like 1.5 hours do you mean 1.5 then you sit out for 15 minutes and return?

I can't imagine always playign such short sessions with a significant break in between. I find starting up tables a pain and if you were playing several 1.5 hour sessions you'd spend a huge amount of time just getting started every day.

I thought the same thing. It takes me about 30 minutes to get on 24 tables anyways. My sessions are usually 4-7 hours.

depends: after work 2h max if I have the will to play. I shouldn't play at all though as I am stressed out enough and tired in the evening. but I somehow do pretty good during the week.

on weekends: the sky is the limit (but I do put in breaks at least every hour - usually consisting of a quick trip to the bathroom and sucking on a cigarette like a 10 dollar hooker)

Move your body.

Try to keep it under 2 hours. You might not feel it now, but multitablers will feel carpal tunnel, neck, back and arm pain and so on after a while if you don't take properly breaks.

yeah, i have used a computer a lot for around 15 years. No surprise then that my wrist is painful often now (De Quervain’s tendinitis). Its getting a bit worse these days so i am looking at alternatives. Voice control, tracker ball, etc.

Yeah, i do 1.5 hours total then i am mentally done. My life is kinda busy with a baby girl, demanding wife, notionally full time job.

i usually do 2-3hr session - 2hr review/videos - 2hr session - dinner/jiu-jitsu - 2hr session - movies/chat/sleep
