i think he felt compelled to bet to take it down (a legit option in PLO), and then felt priced in to call joeys shove given str8/flush possibilities. if it wasnt sauce i would say his play is probably neutral to negative ev, but since he's so good, i guess it's probably neutral. 15k to win 45 = 33 percent equity.
