So assuming you can get it running smoothly (I couldnt when I tried but that was pretty early), in what ways is it better than HEM1? (Or anyone else successfully using HEM2 please chime in.) Like Vini I have a tough time imagining where the significant additional value is going to lie.

only one way to find out
02-28-2012 , 04:19 PM
I dunno, haven't investigated it too much, and I got it for free so I'm not gonna be the best to answer. But it is significantly faster at importing hands

hem1 has issues importing 20 hands a minute?
speed of importing in hem1 is just fine

I tried HEM2 a couple of times and really disliked it. It is still a bit buggy (or was 1 month ago) and I really don't like the feel of it. Also there is very little that is of any importance that HEM2 can do and HEM1 can't.
02-28-2012 , 06:12 PM
hem2 looks prettier.

Buying a Mac as your main poker machine would be insane. FWIW the Stars client has a native OS X version, as does PT3. HEM and TN don't though, and running them through Fusion/Parallels in OS X while masstabling leads to virtually unplayable lag. If you want to play serious poker on a Mac then you have to buy Windows and set up a Windows virtual machine on your Mac...so there's little point in getting a Mac in the first place.

Macs look pretty and the operating system is a bit better. That's about it. Apparently Windows 7 has closed the gap in that respect in any case. I bought my Macbook because I was one of the poor suckers that got lumbered with Vista ie PC AIDS on my desktop poker machine, and had a bunch of problems. So I vowed I would buy a Mac as my next recreational machine. Months after I spent $2500 on a Macbook to play Football Manager and browse porn sites on, Vista got dumped for 7 to a reception of: "they've copied the Mac OS, this is pretty good!"

Cliffs: Macs are great, but poor value; and are a terrible choice as your main poker machine.

Thanks man I think that I'm going to pick up this one tho as I have Battlefield 3 and would like to play it on a specific gaming rig after a long day grinding. I really appreciate the link tho.

Thanks to everyone's insight on this, I really appreciate it. I really felt insane looking at the prices of macbooks.

Oh Jesus. I'm never ordering any large purchase while living in Canada again online. 8 days to get a laptop ordered, 3 customer service calls assuring me it would ship out the next business day (it never did), 1 cancelled order. Reorder on another site and 2 hours on customer service just to get a laptop order approved by my bank.

You're doing it wrong.

ncix.com,
usually ship in 2 days, most of the time the next day.

Coming from LI/NYC, I find very few things about Canada advantageous over the U.S. Perhaps someone can enlighten me?
