Villain is pretty bad 53/29 over 66 hands most of the PFR come in the form of min raises. He's opened the likes of Q7o. K4s etc. Should I just take a free card here in position here, or is this bet fine. I'm guessing my only option now is to call, since I doubt I have much FE against him but I don't know.

Hate this spot. The problem is that whenever I see a huge donk like this, they often do this with weak holdings just to see if they are good. I'll miss it'll go check/check and I see something like j/4o. I would personally raise this although it might be a leak.

Def call now, I guess I'd even call a river bet by him if you hit an A or K besides your FD.

Regarding taking the free card on the turn: I think that heavily depends on the villain. Have you seen him calling overbets with top pair kind of hands? How often does he c/r?
If I know he pays off far too easily on the flop I might even check behind here and overbet turn when I hit but I also like betting out.
Besides, I absolutely agree that 3betting or shoving here makes no sense, he might even call you with a weak J here and even with say J7 he is a 65 to 35 favourite right now. No need to put your money in bad with close to no FE vs a donk hoping to draw out right?

just call and re-evaluate the river.

Agree that this happens sometimes, but he might be taking J4 to the felt here.

Haha that is true. I just contanstly find myself wishing I had reraised here. I agree that the best plan is probably to just see if you hit.

I personally don't mind this result.. Obviously pushing here seems really terrible, probably -EV in itself but when compared to the massively +EV alternative.. I don't like it at all.

What I'm getting at is, that if you had taken the free card on the turn and hit on the river, you would have a really hard time stacking the opponent. The pot would be too small. Now, on the other hand, with villain's checkminraise, you are getting excellent odds to call and if you do hit the nuts on the river you should be able to stack villain reasonably often. So I'm not sure I'd vastly prefer one situation to the other.. Is this flawed thinking on my part?

You should also be able to get to showdown fairly cheaply if you happen to hit your A or K and expect to win fairly often.. bearing in mind, that donks like to checkminraise great hands like sets too; especially on the turn.

I'd love to hear comments on my thinking.

betting the turn when checked too is a must imo....just call the minraise and hope for heart
