Coaching the mental side of the game Coaching the mental side of the game

I've been thinking about getting some coaching (50NL, wanting to move to 100NL soon).

I know that there are technical/strategic things coaching will help with but I don't think that's my biggest problem.

My biggest problem is an occasional lack of focus and perhaps a bit of frustration tilt. If I don't fix that, I don't think the technical and strategic things are going to matter a bit.

So here's the question. Is there any way a coach can help with these things?

It depends on what your price range it but Tommy Angelo can surely help you an I am certain that I could help you as well as I have helped many in my coaching.

Joe Tall coached me on my mental side of the game and I'm good at poker now because of it.

I think you're both out of my price range. Tommy would cost pretty much my entire bankroll...for the short session.

Have you ever considered doing a video series on the mental side of things?

I have, but it was a pretty ambitious idea and we needed more technically strategic content at the time. I may get around to it at some point, if I can figure out a good way to present it.

There is a lot of it in my Late Night Coaching videos. Granted the focus is in-hand analysis but the series does have a ton of meta-game stuff that I talk about all the time (from being a Tommy student.)

Was just going to suggest the metagame content in LNC!

LNC also has some 100NL content. highly recommended IMO!

also, i'm proud to say i did the very FIRST episode of late nite coaching a few months ago for our first sweeps week. it includes JT and yours truly reviewing some 200NL hands and you should watch it!

And I love that series. It's one of the best on the site.

Well the site seems to have four basic types of video.

Classroom lecture like 2x6 Ep1
Live Play
Single input review
Multiple viewpoint review

If you were to do it as a series I think it would start with lecture style vid then progress to multiple viewpoint review. Have someone watch the first vid and try to implement strategies then bring them back for vid two to discuss how it went, offer whatever feedback they have, maybe look at some hands that show the difference or those that might be trigger points.

I think it would be excellent content.
