As the wind blew today, it took my score with it. Shot 49-43=92 today at Naperbrook Golf Course in Plainfield, IL. Nice course. Pretty flat, has some challenge to it with some long rough and a few lakes. Pretty busy too, but I walked on and was able to join up with some folks.

First 3 GIR's I had, I 3-putted... 36 putts total. Made one putt over 5 feet all day. Add to that a handful of duffs, and lost balls, and my score grew and grew. Only had 3 pars on the round, holes 13, 14, 15. Couple doubles, and a snowman. Just a bad ball striking day all around, which was not helpful through some 25 MPH+ gusts at times, that played cross a lot. The back 9 was a lot better, but it was a lost cause by then.

Went out for the first time in my entire life today at the Tyoga County Country Club in PA http://www.tyogacc.com/ and hit 9 under double par. Other than having to let several parties play through, and getting death stares from older members for making a few large divots it was crazy fun. I fell like I improved after almost every hole. I even luckboxed my way into hitting a bogey on a par 4 and proceeded to fistpump into oblivion. I'm going out tomorrow to play a 4 man scramble and am so excited I can't sleep haha. I think I'm going to become obsessed with this ****ing game. I bought a membership ( only $200 ) and plan on playing a **** ton this summer since I don't have a job to tie me down ( ty online poker ). I'm sure I'll be around here asking a never ending barrage of noob questions and I apologize in advance for that. I hope I can look back at this post and laugh by the end of summer.

last round: 95
yesterday: 79

holes 9-13 were so standard:
9: burn edge on 8 foot birdie putt
10: lipout 8 foot birdie putt
11: barely miss 15 foot birdie putt
12: hole out from off the green from 30 feet (10 feet of fringe)
13: drive to 70 yards, end up having to make a 10 footer for par

from 14-18, it was an amazing sequence of clutch/unclutch since i started getting nervy about breaking 80 (cuz you know, ive only broken 80 ~500 times) b/c i have been so bad lately.

14: reachable par 5, make stupid bogey
15: make 45 footer for birdie
16: complete choke snap hook drive, good recovery, complete choke dump 9 iron into bunker, clutch sand shot to 10 feet, clutch putt made for bogey
17: clutch drive down middle, choke chunk 9 iron to inches short of a bunker, clutch chip over bunker to 1.5 feet, complete choke yip miss a tap in. literally a tap in missed.
18: now i need bogey for 79. Clutch pured awesome perfect 225 yard 5 wood. Awful choke "tiger spinner" to horrible spot in a deep ass bunker. Really clutch sand shot to 10 feet to ensure 79.

Played my 2nd round of the season yesterday at Brookview Golf Course in Golden Valley, MN.

I've been working on my swing at the range, after taking the last three years off, and maybe playing 2 or 3 rounds between yesterday and 2005. Because of that, I have developed a wicked shank with my 6-PW.

Finally think I have it cured. Let's go play...

Shot a 44 on the F9 with no birdies, and 4 pars. The B9 was atrocious, started off double, triple, triple, double, my round was doomed, and over. Started shanking it again (WTF), ended up with a 55 for a 99 total.

Hopefully things turn around and I start hitting more consistent shots. Before then I need to get my irons re-gripped. They've been sitting dormant for three years, and have dried up.

Looking to break 80 this year.

shot a 91 at deerpath in lake forest, il. agreed to play the tips cause they were literally 5-10 yards back at most and my friends wanted to play them. had a total of 20 on the 4 par 3's...my 3-6 irons were getting pulled a lot and getting me in lots of trouble. was even after 3 then tripled twice and things kind of fell apart.

had a lesson yesterday and think my swing is getting a lot better. we focused on keeping my left wrist straight, which i think i've got down solid now. we also were focusing on the downswing, which i'm having some trouble with.

i know in the past i've casted the club a lot. i'm kind of confused now about how the downswing should go. i'm not sure if i should be feeling a "pull" down with my left hand. i'm also not sure if i should be dropping my hands then lagging them behind my body or if my hands should be basically in sync with my body and the clubhead should be lagged behind.

also, some of that might make no sense, but the summary is that i think i've got a nice takeaway and backswing and am hitting the best i've ever been hitting, but am struggling with getting good consistency on the downswing.

89. Again started out fine, +1 through five (one stupid 3 putt). Screwed up a simple chip on six, three putts and the rout was on. My short game, when it's off, is brutal. Ball striking was mediocre but that's not what killed the score. Time to practice.

Hitting thin and fat chips will KILL your score. I'm going to work on my short game the most this summer. I love being able to chip within 4' and one put for birdie/par.

86 on par 70

angel park palm course (back tees)

played like a dog on both sides, couldnt get anything going. highlight was just about reaching a 550 yard par 5 in 2 (was 10 yards left of green in rough pin high) skull chip to 60 feet below hole, putt from fringe no where near the hole, then 3 putt for double.

the 5 shots from 30 feet play.

Played my first real round of the year. Shot 82 on a par 72 ~6200 yards in the Grand Rapids area. My chipping and pitching is terrible. Hopefully I'm just rusty, but I seem to be making poor contact and as a result not getting very much check on the ball. Also had two 3 putts which feels like giving shots away.

Bleh, I always fall apart on the back 9.

Put up a 95 today. (46)(49)

I couldn't hit my woods at all on the fornt 9, but I was putting solid. 15 putts (162 feet total). Have only had one 3 putt in the last 61 holes. Then on the back 9 I had 2 3 putts, and a 4 putt. ugghhhh... They wern't even close, I was just as far away on my 2nd putt as my first putt on some of them. wtf.

Anyways, getting some lessons tommorow, so hopefully I can start using my driver, instead of teeing up a 5 wood.

i could not find the fairway, and when i found the green it was on a mis hit...this is the first time in a long time i played like absolute trash and shot well.

40. 1/6 fairways, 4/9 greens, 17 putts. Spraying the ball, short game and putting suck. Standard. Last hole, par 3. Pin high but short sided with no green to work with. Hit a perfect 60, hits, rolls to the hole, hits the stick pretty close to dead on, refuses to drop aaargh.

Hounslow heath

Par 69 5649 yards

Actually I played at the weekend but have only calmed down sufficiently to post now.
Started with a par then it was all down hill. My game got progressively worse as the round went on until I took an air shot off the tee on the fifteenth. Short game was ok but I was topping nearly every full shot low short and right.
Had a little practice after work today and it was better but I’m still finding it very hard to get my upper back straight, my arms don’t feel as if their hanging naturally I feel like in reaching for the ball all the time, I’m not taking a proper divot and I think my weight is falling away from the ball in the down swing.

I'm not very good.

But to me sounds like a balance problem I was having early in the year. I read this thread, and it helped me improve my balance. http://golfrewound.com/forums/practi...e-bombing.html

Before with my woods I was leaning far past my toes and reaching for the ball. At the end of my swing I was having a hard time holding a follow through. Because I was off balance I think it was causing inconsistancy since I was having to adjust mid swing.

Might not be what you're looking for, but it might be.

Anyways I'm off for a lesson.

Played Milham Park Golf Course today, which is a muni here in Kalamazoo. Very nice layout, and well maintained for a muni. Very walkable course built in the 1930s. Par is 35-37, shot 42-40. Bogeyed the first 5, doubled 6, then played +3 over the last 12.

Greens were rock hard and rolled, as such I only hit 5 GIR's, but had 28 putts. Scrambled really well.... pitched in for par on 9, made a 40 foot par putt on 11. Its the type of course where if you were 3-5 yards off the fairway, you were probably in/behind some very mature trees, as I was a few times today, leading to sideways punch shots.

Got paired up with some other stragglers as it was starting to get busy... One guy had the oddest pre-shot/swing I've ever seen. His swing was very upright, and he would turn his head and follow the first 1/3 of his back swing on every shot: driver to wedge. Pre-shot, he would line up at address, take his normal back swing, and follow through 8-10 inches in front of the ball, not hitting it obviously. Then flex his knees, and hit. It was bizarre to watch.

The other 2 guys were retirees, and one was handicapped and played the entire round from a specially designed personal cart, even on the greens. He played the reds as he didn't hit it far, but he was never out of the fairway, and made some nice putts. The other guy had to tee it up for him, get it out of the hole, etc.

Played local course today, shot 73, 3rd best round ever for me. Started out with 7 straight 1 putts, which helps if your not hitting greens.

Always good to get out on the golf course when you need to relieve stress.

Stuff like this is always awkward. I saw a guy playing with one arm one time and he takes a big lash at the ball and hits a line drive about head high 220 yards. Then he turns to me and says "not too bad for a dude with one arm AHHAHAHAH" and then it was more just awesome.

I didn't "shoot" anything, as it was the first round I'd played since last September, and keeping score would have been a waste of time. No shoulder pain (thanks JTrout!) but I did introduce a new and exciting injury! (Not serious, I think, but damn, did it hurt.)

Left thumb (right-handed player) felt like it was being pulled off of my hand. The main joint is very stiff this morning, and my wife and I are going to Lake Tahoe for the weekend, but I'll likely leave the clubs at home.

Um, I think my hands might be fighting each other...
