Sigh! 13 stableford. The wind was blowing a pelican and a half. That and the fact that I lost my swing completely during the round.

Back to the drawing board, or rather the range.

evergreen point in baytown texas

41-39 (80)

probably my last time playing the course for a while and i really wanted to have a solid day...i got over my shanks (see my scores the last week+) so i went out

came to 18 needing a bogey to break 80 for 1st time at this course.

pull driver behind trees on left side of fariway, punch out into a divot (man it tilted me bad too)...blast out of divot 50 feet past hole onto wrong tier, 3 bomb (1 was off green) for a double.....80....ugh.

all in all still a really good round for me, i just really thought today was the day.

I forgot to add that I was in a bunker twice and both times I got out and onto the green with my new sand iron. The blade got to the ball on the second one but it was still a good shot from the sand for me. But as I already had used far too many shots on the holes I had fairly long putts to get one point which both failed.

Heh. I feel like a total n00b posting this, but I shot a 110 last week... which was really exciting for me. I'm getting to the point with golf where I can play 18 holes on a "normal course" without slowing down play or embarrassing myself. Looking forward to improving a lot this summer. My goal is to break 100 (I usually shoot around 115-120), but I'm going to be realistic too. Gunna try to take lessons.

I do some things absolutely horribly (I can't really hit a driver yet without slicing it 90 degrees (the longest club I use is a 3 wood). I can't chip. My putting is OK), so I feel like with some more basic instruction I could take a lot of strokes off my score.

Sounds like 5w off tee would be better for you

Played The Prairies Golf Course in Kalamazoo today. Par is 71, shot 42-40=82. Course is much like the one I played earlier this week south of town... classic, simple design, very walkable, though the back 9 has some rolling hills to it.

Chipped in for bird on 8 from about 10 yards short right of the green. Other 17 holes had 32 putts - but only 1 3-putt. Longest putt made was about 12 feet, for par naturally, and it was an outlier from the rest. New irons hit very consistent, even the long irons which may make a nice difference in my game, if my putter comes around.

+2 for 7 holes.

I have dreams about evenings like this.

I went out to the course about 7:00. Threw a half dozen clubs in the lightweight carry bag and grabbed a couple balls. 70 degrees, sun, no wind, no humidity, no bugs.

The first hole is all mine. I take it nice and easy. Driver, 7 iron to 10 feet. The putt curls left a couple inches and drops in the heart of the cup.

I screw up the par fives but I don't care. I'm moving along at my own pace. I chat with a few members playing adjacent holes. I skip two par fours to be sure that I finish before dark.

Throw the clubs in the trunk and ease over to the bar for a well earned beer. It doesn't get much better.

77. Home course was closed this morning for an outing, so I played with a group at another local course. Not very long from the white tees - 6000 yards - so there were a lot of driver/wedge par 4s. Never got in any trouble off the tee, but the short irons weren't very good.

48+44=92 with 40 putts. played on a par 36+34=70 course, only 5600 yards or so. but the front 9 had some of the longest rough ever, so it was playing much harder. probably some of the worst putting ever (3 putt from 6 feet LOL), but the best round of my life so far. so no complaints. one other thing of note, 7 GIR's. another career high.

edit: oh yes, 4 pars and 8 bogeys. all career highs. and of course, no hole worse than a triple or an 8.

Went 39-43 at Twin Rivers Golf Course in Fall City, Wash. Short, not-too-difficult course (about 5600 yards), but after posting a 94 Saturday at a different track, was very pleased with an 82.

Hit 10 fairways and 7 greens. The fairways are definitely a career best; the greens likely are as well. And if I hadn't decided to start skulling my chips on 15-18, I may well have had my second-ever round in the 70s.

This is a really fun thread to check every few days or so.

Nice!

81 for me today. Hit quite a few loose shots and my short irons were dreadful. I missed the green completely several times from inside 125 yards. Chipping was also notably worse than usual. On the plus side, putting continues to be much better than my long term average.

oops, miss marked it, only 11 putts on back.

on most of the holes on the back i was just off the fringe and was able to use the putter. if not then i hit my 58 around the green extremely well and 1 putt from there. on one hole i holed out from the fringe as well.

93 on a par 72. My best round of the year so far and I still feel like I played horribly.

40 putts, 2 or 3 drives less than 150 yards (one duff probably under 100).

Did have one drive go ~270 on a hole that was uphill (enough so that it was a blind shot).

Went to the range twice since then and I think I worked out a few things I was doing wrong with my swing and around the green so hopefully can take some big strides still this month.

I shot 93 on a 72 on Sat., had soooo many 3 puts it was nasty. the grass on the greens was way long, and it took me way too long to just get aggressive and make sure to get it to the hole.

Drove a par 4 for the first time, it was 292 yards, flat, a little breeze in my face. of course I missed my eagle putt, then my birdie putt, but drained it for par.

love this game
