Couple of rounds away from my local.
This is a forest course. Greens were very slick and pretty much tight/bare lies all the way around.
Won't go through everything just the notables.
Good 3 on the first not a difficult hole. 2nd hole is a SI 15. It's a small par 3 in distance. However, the green is super slim being 11 yards wide and 40 yards long. Pin was front left wind right to left this is probably the worst set up for me. I aim right and it just rides the wind goes about 15 yards to far and about 20 yards left of the green, this was not the place to hit it no way of stopping it when chipping on and end up 3 putting.
6 Long Par 3. Pin was right at the back. I lasered it wrong and thought it was 220. Was slightly down hill and anything at the front will roll to the back. I block it right with a 4 iron about pin high again short side myself. This time I played a good chip and hole the putt.
8 another long par 3 hit it short followed by some bad shots make double.
9 Pretty much a standard Par 5 up till the green. Was into a decent wind. Hit a meh drive. Before the green is a ditch with water so I just hit a little rescue down there and had about 80 in. This was an outrageous pin though as it was front right. One of my playing partners had the same shot and he went 1st and played it sensible middle of the green. I play a bad wedge and just caught it a bit clean and went over the back. Now I probably have a more difficult chip shot. Basically, my thinking was I wanted a low spinny lob wedge chip pitching into the hill eventually getting to the top and letting gravity do its thing and break like a putt. I do exactly that had about 8 feet of break once it got to the top and was the perfect speed and just drops for a birdie.
11 Small Par 3. Pin middle left. Miss it left short sided again.
12 Really bad drive got all the room in the world, and I put it OB. 3 off the tee. Nice little pitch on hole the putt for a good 5 in the end.
13 Par 3. Actually, miss it right this time. Hit a good chip miss the putt.
14 Long Par 3 but downwind so only was a 7 iron. Pin high but back to missing it left short side myself again.
16 Shanked tee shot into the bush didn't bother looking for it end up with a 6.
Meh round overall, best round here is a 72 not a super difficult course I just made it difficult missing it in the wrong spots.
Start with the 2nd. Dog leg par 5 can't miss right and sort of can miss left but there is a ditch running all the way up the left. I drive it into it. Take a drop. Just trying to lay up as there is another ditch in from of the green, Pull it back into the ditch. Take another drop hit a good wedge shot from about 100 to about 8 feet miss the putt.
3rd didn't miss the green this time today I just said to myself just aim right and trust it. Ended up 3 putting from the back fringe though.
4th I think this is the 3rd hardest. Adjacent to the fairway of the 2nd. So, ditch up the left and OB right but enough room. Bit of a dog leg on it so the further left you go the longer you have in. I hit a good drive ended up on this little mound in the fairway which made it a little awkward stance wise. The pin was back left, and you need to be on the right tier of this green there are 3 if not your chances of 3 putting are very high. I think I had 138 to the flag hit a nice little draw with a 9iron. Ended up to an inch of going in for an eagle was a bit rude it didn't.
Sloppy bogey on easy 7th hole, think I 3 putted.
8 & 9 are just tough long holes. I Par'ed these both last time but you kind of happy with 5's ideally playing them in +1 is pretty decent.
10 Long Par 3 Back pin which made it harder. I hit a bad shot and was short of the green. Chipping up the green just decided to keep it simple and played a spinny 48° pulled it a bit but good distance had 10 feet and holed the putt for a good 3.
12 aimed right and it stayed there. Landed in a bunker impossible to get it close hit a decent shot but had about 20 feet coming back up the hill for Par with a pretty big swing. Ended up hitting a good putt and had a tap in 4.
13 2nd hardest hole. Doesn't play as long as it says on the card has a bit of a dog leg on it but you need to hit it up the left for that shorter shot in. I leave it out right and have 190 into back pin didn't hit it great but hit a good chip with a lob wedge for tap in par.
15 easy hole. Good drive. Hit a good wedge to a back pin hits the flag and stops to about 2 and 1/2 feet. Hole the birdie.
16 by this time the heavens opened up and we got pretty wet. Hit an alright drive but get a bad lie for my next. I had a choice now, there is a ditch with water it's only about 120 to clear. Hitting a long club was out of the question with the lie I had. However, it was debatable I was even going to get over with a 7 iron or a PW. I decided to hit 7 iron and blade it right into it. I get up there and it's on dry land however it’s still in the hazard I take an unplayable from about 158. I hit another bladed 7 iron, but it goes to 8 feet and a hole the putt for a 5
18th This pee'ed me off. Not a tough hole. It makes you think but as long as you hit a decent drive, you're fine. My hand slipped whilst hitting the drive and basically scabbed it 80 yards into some crap in front of me. Pretty thick rough chop it out have about 140 left. Hit an alright shot but stayed out right. Hit a decent chip on and missed a 3-footer to make 6.
A lot of shoulda coulda woulda on this round but I got to take the good with the bad and probably gained a few shots in other places which on another day probably not happening. Just a bit frustrating coming in with such a good back 9 going. Me and my friend played 2 members at their club in better ball, and we won 1up.
