76 Tuesday, 3 birdies and one double.

36 in an evening 9 Wednesday

Then Thursday start of Member/Guest

Today was a practice round. I shoot 82 with several ball in pocket holes and 3 birdies. I shoot 82, partner shoots 87. Our gross best ball was 73, and a 71 net. Two of the birdies were of the 2-putt variety on par 5's so no chance of a skin there. The other maybe has a chance but I highly doubt it.

Afterwards they had two sims set up. $20 to hit 3 shots at a par 3, 7 on Pebble and 13 on Copperhead. Hit it to 11 feet on Copperhead and I was barely in top 10 (paid top 5). On Pebble I hit one right over the stick and it started to back up but stopped 5 feet away. No even good enough for top 5.

3 matches tomorrow.

First 3 matches of the member guest.

tl/dr version is we have started 3-0.

Matches are worth 10 points, one per hole and an extra point for the win.

First match of the day we are playing off of our opponent. I get 1 shot, partner gets 2 shots, other opponent gets 2 as well. Know these guys really well. Started off on a short par 4. Everyone hits the green and the best one was a 5 feet for birdie and the opponent makes and we are down 1-0 early. Fast forward to the last hole and we are tied 4.5-4.5. Partner is inside the left penalty line but has a clean look at the green from 116y. He jars it for a 2 net 1 and we win the match 6-4.

Second match playing off an opponent where I get 2, partner gets 3, and other opponent gets 4. Start on another short par 4 and I stick my approach to 4 feet and make to go up 1-0. Next decent hole is 18, par 5 dogleg playing 530. One opponent is OB and out of the hole. Partner is OB and out of hole. Opponent hits a bullet over the corner and has 160y out. I go the old man approach and hit hybrid off the tee cutting just a little off. 2nd I have 245y in and lay up. Opponent somehow drops it in the water. I hit one to 10 feet from 94y out. Opponent drops one and pitches it to 5 feet. I step up and make for birdie and we go on to win the match 6.5-3.5.

Last match was against another 2-0 team but has 1.5 points more than us. Playing off of opponent I get 2, partner gets 4, and other opponent gets 5. We are getting destroyed early as the 5 starts out par, par, par hitting every fairway and green. We are down 3.5-1.5 going into the 9th hole (started on 5). I hit it to the fringe on my 2nd shot from 198y. Opponent has 160 left and misses green, then thins one of of bunker. I 2-putt for birdie and the hole. 1st hole also a par 5. Opponent who gets a shot blow it way left in the trees but had a window to lay up to 60 yards. I hit a good drive that was turning back to fairway but clips a branch and falls in right rough and 232 in. My second hits back fringe and rolls over. Partner has 180 in after a bomb of a drive. 2nd hits green 30 feet right of hole (and he gets a stroke). Other opponent hits one even further and has 165 in. He blows an 8 iron over the green and next to a tree and is out of hole. I chip it to 4 feet for a birdie look. Partner ends up cozying the first putt up and makes a birdie net eagle. Opponent who laid up hits green but misses and match is tied 3.5-3.5. Next hole short par 4. We are all in fairway and all hit green. I have the shortest bridie putt of 12 feet. Opponent drains one from 35 feet for birdie. I drop mine on top of his to tie the hole. We win next hole when both opponents drive it OB and we tie the last for the 6-4 victory.

We have 18.5 points and in the lead of our group by the people we just beat who have 18 points. We win some $ for most points in our group from day 1. If somehow we go 5-0 and don't make the shootout I will be less than happy. It's 19 flight winners plus 2 wild cards. I would think that if you get 30 points that would be a wild card spot at worst but who knows.

Day 2

Started out great in the morning. I should say I started out great in the morning. Partner made 2 pars the whole match. At least they freed my up to make run at birdies. My round began with 4 straight pars followed by 2 birdies. I had a birdie putt of 10 feet on the next hole but I only needed to two putt it for the win and lagged one down to a foot. Only blemish is a bogey on the last hole where I had a 100 foot putt for birdie and 3-jacked it. I shoot 35, team shoots 35. We win the match 7-3.

We have a 1 point lead in our group heading into our last match. Opponents stick it to one foot for birdie on the first hole but partner gets up and down for net birdie to halve. OK. Opponents birdie the next to win and we win with a par on the 3rd hole. Match is all square. After that, disaster. We didn't outright win a hole the rest of the way. It's not because opponents were making birdie, we were making bogeys to lose. We ended up losing 7.5 to 2.5. 2nd place team won their match 7-3 and we finish in second. Point total not good enough to get a wild card spot.

Overall a good time and we won some $ for most points day 1 and 2nd in our flight. I just completely ran out of gas in the last match.

43-42-85. 1 birdie, 1 double, 1 triple. Played up a set of tees.

Ball striking was off and on, but I did a pretty good job of avoiding a lot of big numbers. Chipping/pitching was interesting -- it was either REALLY good or a complete disaster. Putting wasn't great.

All in all, if that proves to be the last round of the season ending it with a birdie on #18 is a good way to go out. Hoping it isn't -- have a tee time for Saturday, but who knows. Forecast right now is 45 and not much chance of rain.

First time playing for like 2 weeks weather been terrible for a week or so then last week I've been ill. Still sick today but was getting bored just sat in doing nothing.

75 +6 around my local. Not bad considering I had a 9 which equated to a quad on the 3rd. A lot of pars 0 birdies.

43-43-86. No birdies, a few doubles.

If I wasn't playing as part of a group I probably would have skipped it due to back issues. Plowed through, but it made for a less than enjoyable experience.

It was funny, this was one of my best rounds ever in terms of pitching the ball. I hit one clunky chip but probably 7 or 8 wedges that were stone dead. And I did that after hoseling a bunch before the round during warmup.

+7 in very wet conditions.

Ended up walking a hole as lost my ball on the tee shot so that amounted to 3 of those shots.

Was quite funny playing in super wet conditions it was like throwing darts with the wedges. I remember on the 18th I hit it short left on my approach. Chipping over a bunker probably about 15 yards or so, Hit a 60 and it was so satisfying for it to come out like the way you meant it, Perfect landing spot and then a little spin left right in the jaws of the hole had a tap in for par.

Nice to get out playing and my illness going away.

Played a parkland course yesterday well half of it. Never played it before and got there and the club house said all the holes are like 180 yards or less. No mention of that on the website. As we paid already and drove about an hour we just got on with it. Would be a really nice course in the summer but fairways were so boggy. Even if you missed the greens by a couple of feet your ball would plug.

Not sure how a course like that gets members, £1,500 a year and whilst they do have 2 courses I can't imagine you'll be playing much in the UK winter months.

Did a 3 club challenge today. Never again am I not taking my putter played alright up till the green. Had a 7 iron and a rescue and was ripping them both. Had a PW also but honestly I could do without that. Next time it will be Rescue/8 Iron/Putter.

On another note, Our captaincy comes to a end at the end of the year we are a pretty small club and the captain now has been it for 2 years. He's done a great job he isn't perfect and he is quite loud but he has done an amazing job especially of getting new people involved. In all the men's section eyes we thought he would be captain next year. However, He went to a meeting the other day with the seniors and women's captains and also the others on the committee and apparently he got spoke to like dirt by them and he ended up walking out and now they said his term will end at the end of the year.

It's a big shame because nobody else wants to step near it. I've been suggested a bunch but honestly I just want to turn up play golf and bugger off. Don't mind helping out here and there but I don't want to be a captain or vice.

Scored bad for actually hitting the ball good. Missed a 3 foot putt for par on the first hole (didn't miss one inside of 6 feet the rest of the weekend). Hit a ball in the water on the 3rd after chunking the ball, which almost never happens. Also hit it in a divot on 18 and chunked that one in the water from 60y out and made double.

Round Two

38-37-85

1 birdie, no doubles

Much better day. Made a couple longish putts to save par. Lone birdie was on a par 3 when I hit it to 18 inches.

I think I finished around 10th or so out of 32.

Weather has been horrid in the UK.

Managing to get out here and there but courses are so wet. Not expecting anything scoring wise but I am hitting my irons and wedges pretty decent. Can't seem to hole a putt outside 5 feet though which is sort of annoying.

Longer clubs I'm living in the heel which I hate. I did manage to get something going with the driver today and getting it more to the middle.

9 holes today

1 Birdie 1 Bogey

Bogey was understandable, Hardest hole into a cold northerly wind. Is around 420. Hit my drive low left just clearing a bush. In the rough just hit a 6 iron back in play. Chunked a 8 iron from like 140 5 yard short got up and down.

Birdie was on a 270ish Par 4. Wouldn't normally hit driver here but it was down wind. You need to hit a slight draw and it worked out great. Hit it to like 40 feet just in the fringe. Hit a poor chip to about 6 feet holed the putt though.

Nice to put a score together been a while since I've actually done it. F winter golf

Did a 9 hole xmas mixed scramble yesterday.

I got paired with 2 older women and 1 older man when I meet him, he said he could barely walk 9 holes. Think the women were off like 54 and 40 handicaps and the man was off 23 ish. Worked out we were off 6, Everyone had to have 2 tee shots.
We ended up winning with a -1 score we won on countback a lot of other teams had the same score.
Start the highlights on the 3rd We did start on the 9th, but we made 3 standard pars. We were bang average up till the green on the 3rd. It's a par 5 so it’s really on me and I didn't really turn up on this hole. I hit the approach shot in to about 25 feet, but we were putting for a 5. 1st Women steps up and nails it.

4th hole Par 3 about 170. I hit my tee shot into a bunker (GUR) We had a chip that was about 30 yards or so. They all messed it up. We had about 15 feet for par before I went. Hit a good chip with the 60 and put it to a foot.

5th hole 120-yard par 3 with a sucker pin. If you don't carry it all the way, there you're in some sloppy rough. They all went for it and missed short. I stuck one on the green for safety about 30 feet, got down there and it really made sense not to take my ball on the green, it was a tough chip but given the shot situation and the holes coming up I mentioned we should just take one of the women shots. They all agreed, It was a short sided chip I sort of knew the best they could do is probably 15 feet or so which one got it to 8 feet. Allowed me to sort of get more aggressive with it and put it to a foot. Level Par up till now.

6th hole long 420-yard par 4. I probably hit it about 220 middle of the fairway no roll whatsoever given it's so wet. Have about 200 left. Again, all carry. The ladies hit it about 100 yards down the fairway which was good. The older gentlemen said I'll leave this to you as he had a bad back. Put me in a tricky spot. I was hoping he could just hit a 180 shot and I had the freedom to pull out a wood. Woods for me are rarely good so decided on rescue. Hit it like 190, simple up and down was nice to hit all the shots on this hole.

7th short par 3. I think by now everyone, but the older gentleman had used all their tee shots obviously someone could have one extra. The man hit it short, and I hit it to about 15 feet. I did ask him if he ok about hitting his tee shot down the 8th. He was fine. We all just missed the putt for a birdie.

8th Par 4. He nails his driver down the middle couldn't ask for better really. One of the women puts it pin high just off the green. Which I was very confident of getting up and down just by myself. I chunked my wedge slightly but somehow it rolls up onto the green to about 6 feet ... They all missed their putts and I roll it in.

Like I said a lot of teams were on the same score as us. The team in 2nd we were tied on the last 6 then the last 3 so we had to go back hole by hole and fortunately we got a birdie on 8 which won it for us. Was so nice to see the others in my team win. The 54 HC said she just started playing golf a couple of months ago, so she was pretty happy. Ended up getting some decent meat vouchers for Xmas.

This event got pushed back because of bad weather but they drew the teams out. Now there are only a few single digit handicaps at our club and me and this other guy are the lowest basically the same handicaps. They put us together with two 54 handicaps and we would have got 6 shots which would have been insane. We both get 7 shots around 18 holes round this place thank God they did a redraw to make it a bit fairer.

Got out on Christmas Eve, pretty nice day in NJ, around 50 with almost no wind.

Shot 85, probably had my best ball striking day with the irons I've had all year. Driver was the problem, multiple mishits that barely went 100 yds. Very frustrating, it's like a penalty right off the tee and then I'm scrambling just to make bogey. Need to get the big stick sorted out... it's definitely holding me back from breaking 80.

Maybe shouldn't have watched the Greg Norman 30 for 30 yesterday. Played my dad today, was 5up through 8, made double on 9 for 40 on the front. Was still 3up with 5 to go, halved 14, so 3 up with 4 to go, with him getting pops on 16-18. I hit the green on 15 and he's well short. He chips on to 8 feet, I lag my putt to 6 feet from 55. He misses and taps in for 4. So I have 6 feet to win the match, 2 putts to guarantee no loss. Run it just off the lip 3.5 feet by and miss the comeback. 2up. I finish bogey bogey bogey and he finishes bogey bogey and then Larry Mizes an uphill shot over a lake to 6 feet on 18 to take his only lead of the day, winning 1up. OOOOOF.

Played in a tough wind today didn't play at all well basically bogey golf apart from a couple of pars.

8th and 9th at this course are like 450 par 4's on a nice day I might get there with 2 good shots. Today though bang into the wind constant like 25mph-30mph and gusting at like 40-50mph. Hit a 3 wood on of the holes for the 2nd shot ballooned up in the air stalled and just plugged when it landed.

Was good to get out and play weather has been a bit iffy for the most part.

Been a while since I put a decent round together. Conditions were pretty good but cold.

Messed up the 1st and ended up with a bogey.

Got it back on the 4th with a 2 on a 160ish Par 3.

Then gave it right back on the 6th. Long Par 4 into a slight cold wind. Hit a decent drive and a decent second shot. Still was like 15 short of the green. Hit a chip foot short of where I wanted to and it spun up to leave me like 18 feet. Got a bit heavy handed with the putt and raced it past and left myself with a 5 footer down hill missed this ended up with a double.

I was playing some decent stuff. My approaches to 7/8/9 were all inside 10 feet just didn't hole a putt.

Everything Par up till the 15th Par 5. Had 160ish for my approach shot. Was slightly into again and hit a decent 6 iron. Pin high 20 feet left of the flag. Down hill putt and ran it by like 5 feet again missed the one coming back and ended up with a bogey.

17th hit my best drive of the day on a tough driving hole. Hit a really good approach to about 8 feet missed the putt.

18th ended up with a birdie approach was terrible but holed a decent putt.

+2 after all that so pretty decent overall. Thank god I had hand warmers and mittens though also my first outing wearing compression leggings some under armour ones they were very good.
