Playing tomorrow, very crucial start to the round. Buddy and I are in a best of 7 match series. I was up 3-1 going into Monday's match, which ended AS. So tomorrow the new match begins, but also these are the playoff holes for Monday.

So currently up 3-1 with game 5 in "overtime", so by end of tomorrow, could be anywhere from tied 3-3 to having won 4-1 and up 1-0 in the next series. Start hot!

Well, tap in par on 1 won me the original series, and I ended up also winning today's match 8&6 haha, so that was fun.

Was -1 thru 4 and shot 41 on the front including a gross triple where I had 80 yards in from the middle of the fairway for my 3rd on a par 5.

On 17, marshal drives up right as I'm about to tee off. I back off and gesture he can go, he says "go ahead." UGH. I fail to commit mentally, thinking during backswing "what is this guy doing" and block it into the mess. I have to drop in bad rough, chip my 4th out, then hit my 5th into the mess again and make a 10. End up with 90 on the nose, really could have been a phenomenal round. Chipped and putted really well, cleaned up the tee shots from Monday (except 17 arghhghg), but still struggling on 50-80 yard shots, just need to groove those back and feel confident again.

I also won a men's club match 8&6 today. Was giving a million strokes (23) so knew I needed to get off to a good start and did playing the first 5 +1 and was 5 up vs a guy who was really struggling to find the club face. He steadied the ship a little but I played solid and closed it out after 12.

Finished off with 78 which is just above my handicap for the tees we played. Hit 7 fairways, 9 greens and 33 putts. 1 birdie, no doubles (always nice, pretty stress free round, didn't lose a ball, etc.) and felt like I putted it better than I have in a while. Which is nice as I actually went and practiced putting on Tuesday night for like 45 minutes focusing on stroke and speed. Should probably make that a weekly habit.


Big week coming up. Caddying for my buddy in a US Mid Am qualifier Tuesday so we've got a practice round I'll play Monday and then his member guest is next Thursday to Saturday.

43-39 81 yesterday.

Mostly uneventful but I was 3 for 3 on sand saves yesterday and they were all in the last 6 holes. I am like a <20% sand save player the last few years so it was nice to hit some good sand shots, make the putts and keep the score in a good place as the game was just kind of meh overall.

It was a horrible day weather wise. Turned up tight and no warm up. Hit my first drive way right onto another fairway hit. Bladed a 8 iron to the back of the green ended up getting a bogey. Thought it was going to be a long day but played pretty well after that.

Only birdie came on the 3rd par 5. Into the wind and was a tough hole.

I should of had so many more birdies I just could hole anything. Had so many putts from 5-10 feet and not one dropped.
If I remember my back 9, Hit the 10th to like 8 feet missed. 11th to 5 feet Missed. 13th Par 3 15 feet missed. 14th 8 feet missed. 15th about 30 feet lipped the hole. 16th 7 feet missed. 18th 10 feet missed.

I blurted something out on the 18th after it missed and one of the guys I was playing with said you can't be disappointed....


Day before we did a alternate shot comp. Get paired up with a random guy and then you get given a handicap. The guy who I was playing with can hardly see so I had 0 expectations and decided to just have fun. Front 9 was terrible we were getting held up by 2 groups in front of us and given its alternate shot you might not hit a shot for a while time wise. Overall don't mind it but rather play a different format.

I was flushing irons. Kinda fell apart on the back. On 15 (par 5) I was 235 out and decided to top/heel a 3 wood about 65 yards to the left. That hurt.

First round back today at a 9 hole par 3 after ORIF wrist surgery on 5/19 on my trail hand. A little rusty but not painful. Promising!

9 hole league match today, Played vs a good friend of mine and someone who I play regularly. I had to give him 8 shots.
Went 1 up on the 1st, Then it just kept on swinging back to A/S and back to me 1 up. Got to the 7th where I was 1 up. Small Par 3 he doesn’t get a shot here, I hit it to about 10 feet he hits to about 18 feet. He misses and I managed to hole mine. So, I go 2 up with 2 to play. 8th I chunk the approach shot in then hitting a bang average chip shot which was easy. He wins the hole. 9th Hole, He flares driver out right leaving him about 150ish. I hit rescue and leave about 85 yards in. He messes up his shot into the green and then messes up the chip, has another go at it and has about 20 feet for bogey. I hit mine to the middle of the green and leave about 25 feet. I hit a decent putt goes about 4 feet past. He goes and nails his putt and now my putt got a bit bigger , Thankfully I put a really good stroke on it and hole it for the par to win 1up.

Record now 15-2-1 with 7 matches left, Still have a few tough opponents left that will decide it all.

Yesterday shot a 99 and had to grind down the stretch to keep it under 100, playing last 5 holes in 6 over. Today played the same course from the same tees in the same conditions, even the same hole locations and shot 86.

44 on the front with 12 putts, 42 on the back with 18 putts ha. Hit 6 of the last 10 greens after missing the first 8. Two doubles on the back, one on a par 3 over water where I cleared the water but bounced back into the water, the other on a drive I pounded, everyone thought was good, but was somehow lost in the native area lateral hazard, even though lots of spots it should have been visible.

46 (par 36). Driver was not cooperating for the first two holes, but then was able to find my start line and things got marginally better. Putting is still bad, but certainly not as atrocious as before.

53-51-104. Hadn't played in almost a month and didn't feel like a bad outing.

Played Monday at the University of New Mexico course - practice round for my friends’ US mid am qualifier. Those suckers had to play at 7,500y and I went forward 3 boxes to 6,500 and shot 81. Made one birdie but a couple of doubles. Found a lot of basically brand new golf balls in the rough as it’s pretty thick.

Caddied for my buddy in the qualifier Tuesday and he didn’t have it at all. 78 with a triple on 10. He’s a great driver of the ball but had a two way miss going so we spent a lot of the day in the left and right rough which is tough on such a long and demanding course. Missed a few shorter putts as well - oh well golf is hard. Medalist shot bogie free 67 which was awesome.

Then yesterday played a public course in back here in Durango - Hillcrest and it’s so fun. A great amount of undulation, variety of holes and wide enough but not just a course you can totally spray it around. Greens are interesting and pure. 82 with a double and a triple. Two birdies tho.

Buddies wife shot 70 (-1) from the blue tee (6,500y) for a +4.7 diff as a 3 handicap (8 course handicap). She’s never broken par from not the front tees so it was pretty awesome to watch.

Started off alright +4 having played 7 holes. Get to the 8th and literally forget how to swing a golf club for 4 holes going Double/Triple/Triple/Triple ... playing like I did today made me wonder how I ever shot 76 around this track

I watched Nolan Ryan deal a no no to the Oakland Athletics in 1990 at Oakland coliseum. The crowd chanting “bullshit” on a questionable call during that game was seared into my 9 year old brain. Can’t remember anyone sneezing.

Comp today. As soon as a I tee'd off on the 1st I wanted to stop. Constant 20mph+ winds with the gusts up to like 40mph add to that it was hammering down with rain all round. Fully water proofed up which I found out by the 2nd hole I was going to get very wet.

1st hole no warm up hit driver out right but it was ok. Hit approach into green side bunker and in a nasty deep foot print take 2 to get out. Get it in for a 5 though, Just put me in a bad mood being in a foot print like that and with the weather not helping either.

Felt like I was being a bit rude to my playing partners as I was literally walking up to my ball and if they are not as theirs them I'm just going to hit. I remember one hole I was right up behind the 2 ball in front. Hit my approach quickly as they left the green, I walked up and putted out before even the other 2 in my group got to the green and then just ran for cover


Not sure what I shot today but it can't have been any good. Guy I played with won the comp he was off 27 he played really well more so with the conditions, I probably would of called it a day if wasn't playing so well.

Made a solid run at breaking 80 today (index 19.2, course handi 17, par 70). 40 on front with a silly double on a par 3 from just off the green. It's a 9 hole course, so got another shot at it, was just off the green again and made triple this time!! Rage.

Then a quad after the first two penalties of the day on 18, one was just a bad break, pounded drive and the ball was above my feet on dead grass, and my right foot slipped backwards on the dead grass slope on my swing, the next was that I somehow can't hit 50 yard shots after getting decent at them.

25 putts! 84 total, 83 with ESC, drops index to 18.5, lowest ever index for me. Ties for my 4th low score ever.

Played my 3rd round of the year yesterday. Played terrible, missing both ways, 39 putts. On hole 15 I told my buddies this my last round of the year for me I then proceeded to make a 50 foot par put on 16, tap in eagle on 17 2nd shot 235 yards from a fair bunker, and a holed bunker shot on 18. Golf is a cruel game that makes you want to keep coming back.

Thursday practice round I didn't have it for **** but won a net skin bc I'm one of the highest handicaps in the lowest cap flight. Partner also won a skin and we didn't do anything in the putting, chipping or CTP contests. 148y CTP contest and some dude thinned a 9w into a bank and it tricked to 2 feet ftw - sick!

Friday 3 9-hole matches we won 6-3, lost 5.5-3.5 and won 5.5-3.5 so 15 points and in 3rd out of 6 teams in our flight behind 16 and 16.5 points.

Match 4 we tie 4.5-4.5 vs the overnight leaders and 2nd place get crushed so we need a lot of points in the final match. Which we did winning 7-2 to tie the flight (as they won 5.5-3.5). First tie break is head to head (tie) and second is most second day points so we got into the shootout.

Survive the first shootout hole and I hit a solid approach on the second and partner unfortunately left the birdie putt on the lip putting us into a chip off to be eliminated and we both hit meh chips after the first guy in the other team hit it to 3'.

First time playing in front of more than a handful of people and first time ever playing true alt shot and I actually hit it decently - an okay approach on the first hole and made a 3 footer to avoid a chip off and then hit my wedge directly over the stick to 15 feet on the second hole dead into the wind to a back shelf pin - just so happy not to have chunked or thinned it.

Fun week and played some good, some bad, met some cool and not so cool people - but overall great event with solid food and weather. Payouts were cash which is nice as I didn't want to have to spend a bunch of pro shop money that evening after already doing the mobile pro shop tee gift thing on Thursday.

50 on an easy par 35 (68/115 slope) resort course today, Vidanta Los Cabos for the first 9 holes back from the wrist injury/surgery on a full sized golf course. Triple on 1 and quad on 9 to bookend what was otherwise a pretty successful round.

Course is bermuda grass, in semi-decent shape, and not super complicated. Not by any means high end with mostly dirt cart paths, but it's only $35 per person to play and ride 9 in Cabo, plus $25 each for generous food/bev service in the nature of an all inclusive.
