I'm in Seattle then Vegas. I have 3-4 days to kill in between. Thought about driving but I hate driving. Probably will just fly to Vegas early.

3-4 free days in the PNW and no mention of Bandon.

I think we have in thread confirmation of an alien abduction.

Nah just going to check it out. Tuesday practice round only. I have never been to a pro golf event above the KF tour so I’m excited to see the guys of this generation in person.

40-46-86. No birdies, 2 double bogeys. 67.8/126/5675

Front nine, 2 hours. Back nine, 2:45. Lost focus and other things. Found a lot of golf balls though.

Group of us went away on Thursday south of the UK but north to where I live. First we stopped off to a place called Blacknest Golf Club. Looked nice upon arrival, Course wasn't great though. Very bland and just a pretty annoying golf course. Pretty short but fairways were very bare and burnt, Greens were rock hard and some impossible pins. So many little hazards. I don't think I've lost so many balls. I was hitting it well but just hitting it left. Only highlight was I won the nearest to the pin. Oh and my playing partner nearly having a fight with some Geese, He got to close to the babies in the group and then he got hissed at and charged at

After this we went to a place called Old Thorns Hotel. We stayed the night and obviously went out in the couple of bars they have. The last bar we was in was pretty expensive more so to someone who hardly drinks. 1 of our group snuck a big bottle of tequila in, We all passed it around and have some shots, I have no idea why they didn't take it off us or tell us to leave as we were pretty in sight of the bar. One guy just started downing the bottle I nearly was sick watching him do it ... Everyone gradually started leaving the bar until it was just me and my room mate were left. We decided the head back and get some sleep. I couldn't sleep for ****, with my room mate snoring and the room being pretty hot. I think I managed to get 3 hours sleep.

Went and had breakfast and chucked a load of stuff on my plate but I only could eat a little.

Then it was time to get the clubs out. I get round to the practice green and everyone was having a putting comp. I was out in the first round. Massive breaks and quick greens. With the way I was feeling mixed with this greens I felt like there was a good chance I could of like 5 or 6 putt today.

Get to the first tee. Starter there he sends our first few groups off. It's our time. 320 par 4. We have about 2 groups behind us that are with us and about 15 other random people watching the tee shots. I'm standing there on the first tee like I can hardly stand up straight. I look down the fairway and it's tight. Can't got right. Left is meh but not dead. You can hit a iron but you'll have a blind shot to the green. To get it to the top of the hill it's about 240. I decided just to take the club with the biggest face on it. Thankfully I nail it was actually sort of unlucky kicked into the upslope at the top of the hill and kicked left but wasn't bad. Ended up making Par. Once this hole was actually out the way I felt a lot better.

Won't go through every hole but some highlights in here.

I'll start with the 3rd. Straight Par 4. Nail a drive and I was 5 yard short of it rolling down a massive hill to probably like have a wedge in. Instead I have a 5 iron and about 180 in end up making a 5.

4th Par 3. I hit a really good shot about 12 feet left of the flag. Get up there and its a terrible putt super slick. I hit it way to hard and have 12 feet the other side and of course leave it short and then get a 4.

5th Hole Par 4 like 350 or something. This is a unreal hole. I'll put a picture up of it but my picture doesn't do it justice so I'll put up a default one up to. Only need to a iron off the tee it will run down before the pond. I was just short of it and chipped on and made a decent putt for birdie.

8th I make another Birdie 350 Par 4 had about 7 iron in hitting over a big tree. Clipped the top of it but went to 3 feet tapped it in for Birdie.

9th Par 4 but only 224 on the card. Pin was tucked front right behind a bunker. I hit a 4 iron Pin high but left. Very difficult putt. Pin was actually on another tier, Big left to right putt about 40 feet up the hill was really focused on the pace., leave it just short right in the jaws but have a tap in birdie.

16th 130 yard par 3 we had nearest to the pin on this hole. I wish I recorded this hole I was laughing so hard. Right is dead if you land there (More on that in a minute), Left you have about a 40 foot drop anything near this you're gone with bunkers right at the bottom, Oh and the green slopes hard from right to left. 1st guy steps up toe shanks it up the right side but hits the path and some how goes onto the green. Rolls across the green and goes down that drop. 2nd hits the right side of the green but rolls down to the bunker and this bunker is right at the bottom of this drop. 3rd guy flares it out right near the path hits something bounces on the green and rolls down to the bunker. Now considering what I've just seen I was pretty worried about this shot. I hit a really good shot all over the flag and rolls left and by the skin of teeth holds up in the fringe.

1st guy who is at the bottom hits a really good wedge shot from where he was and considering he is a 23hc it was really good however he has a tough putt. He gets up to the green and hits his putt and he over hit it and he went back down that massive slop so he has to go down and hit another wedge shot he eventually hit a wedge back on and ended up on the other side of the green in the fringe he had a chip and picked up after that.

The other 2 in the bunker both had about 3 attempts they both got out everytime but it kept on rolling back in they both picked up to. My putt wasn't great ended up leaving the same distance to the right of me as it rolled back. I ended up getting a 4.

17th Short Par 5 tee shot you're so high up and you're trying to keep to a tree line as it dog legs right. I hit a perfect drive and managed to take off some of the corner. I think I have about 200 yards left in. Green is protected by bunkers I hit a hybrid and get it on about 35 feet away. Hit a good putt for eagle just missed and tap in for Birdie. This picture won't do it justice but it was cracking view

Ended up making 4 Birdies and managed to win the day by a shot, Overall I shot 38-44-82 (+10) which around this track is 2 under my handicap. This probably goes up to the best course I've played, In condition wise and how fun the course was to play. I will go back here sometime soon.

Then we sat down had a drink, quickly leave. Pain in the ass drive back with how slow it was. Took a extra half hour, As I'm getting closer to my town I notice the time and saw my local club is playing the weekly 9 hole roll up. Decided to go play it before even going home. Ended up winning that shooting +1 through 9 holes.

I haven't watched this all but I think this was played in the winter so probably won't look as nice, But if you fancy taking a look then go through his series of videos of this course.

41-39-80. 1 birdie, 1 double bogey. 68.9/121/about 6000

Everything was pretty mediocre but today was a good day to be mediocre. Have played this course quite a bit so I generally know where to miss. Left a lot of putts short.

46-41-87 yesterday after 3 consecutive 94's. I knew I had a good round going and managed to one putt the last 3 holes to play them in 1 under.

Two triples. One after I played iron off the tee for "accuracy" and proceeded to hit my worst shot of the day.

Halved the 1st and the 2nd,

3rd was interesting, Both hit our tee shots what seemed like a little off the fairway in semi rough. Get down there and we couldn't find any balls after a couple of mins search. I just said lets just halve the hole and walk to the 4th he agreed.

4th Par 3 shot hole. Normally around 200 but they bumped the tees up to about 170ish. I took way to much club and go through the green I hit 5 Iron probably a 7 or 6 given how bouncy everything is at the moment. He goes into a bunker. He gets it out but ends up with a 5, I get up and down for 1up.

5th short Par 3 like 120. I get to front edge about 40 feet away not a good shot. He blades it and goes through the back and has a tough shot up against some bushes. Duffs it out, Duffed it again, Got it on the green for 4 he has about 10 feet for a 5. I'm just thinking just get it to like 5 feet and we are good do that. Miss the Par but win the hole with a 4. 2 up.

6th Shot hole 420yards par 4 hardest hole. Today into a crosswind. I nail the tee shot and it's gone pretty far for into wind. He has a nightmare off the tee and has to go 3 off the tee and puts it down the middle. Hits his next shot and then his next. So he has played 5 before I've played my 2nd. I tried my hardest to throw this hole, I duck hook a 6 iron into some thick stomach high rough. Eventually find it and just chop it out and put my 4th past the pin 20 feet and have that for a 5. He's short short sided in a bunker and gets it out but like 25 feet. Long story short he ends up 3 putting for a 8 I get a 6. 3 up with 3 to play.

7th 100 Yard Par 3 no shots. I put it to like 8 feet. He hits it to like 10 feet. He leaves his putt short in the jaws of the hole. I do the same but was never going to race it by as a half was good for the match. Win 3&2.

Now this is where its a bit funny. I don't think he actually knows how match play works. We play 8 and 9 I was just hitting for the fun of it. Like I tried to drive the 8th green but pulled straight left OB (I would never really pull this club on this hole) He is like now I have a chance (I'm thinking in my head he knows we just shook hands surely he knows the match is over, I see it he's just having a laugh). He hits a driver to, He pulls it left into the trees but some how it's come like 30 yards before the green. He ends up getting a Birdie. He fist pumped and I was so happy for him until he said now he is 2 down. Then I had to explain to him you can't win or draw now it's just not possible, So by now you think he gets it right? Well no

So we get to the 9th I drive it into the green side bunker. He gets onto the green in 3, He has about 15 feet for Par. I hit a good bunker shot and have about 8 feet for Birdie. Before he takes his putt he says "I need this for the win don't I?" I couldn't be bothered explaining it again. Thankfully he missed and I holed my birdie putt.

Puts me top of the league now.

Played another 18 after that. I shot +5... It was a weird one though. Level Par through 8 holes, Spank it OB on the 9th end up getting a triple. 12th is a Par 5, Hit it into some hedges off the tee hit another one and duck hook it onto another fairway very long way out. Hit a 6 iron to just get it back into play, Hit a good shot but still have like 195 in. Had a funny uphill lie. Shot to the green kind of wanted a fade so I played for one I knew if it didn't happen though I could be in trouble. It didn't happen and just went straight. Thankfully not to bad just in the greenside bunker but with and crappy lie I put it over the green on the other side of the flag. Chip on 2 putt ended up with a quad. After this I get another 2 birdies to save the score a little.

Going away on a golf trip for a 2 days to play 2 courses. Never seen what they are like so should be interesting.
I thoroughly enjoyed this write-up

Started watching this and it's terrible weather and looks like a couple of years back as it looks so different to what I saw the other day., watching this I probably wouldn't go here

here is a flyover video is 3 years old but represents the course in a much better fashion.

On the 13th, I hit a perfect tee shot drawing right over the trees it was probably my best shot of the day, Went about 270-280 ish (was bouncy) but got up there and I was screwed. I was right side of the fairway, You'll see a small bare patch to the right side of the fairway and I was basically there but in the fairway. Pin was front over the left side of the bunker and everything slopes from back to front hard. I lob it on to the back left and I have a super fast putt and end up 3 putting off the top of my head.

I really think/hope I just need to practice and play more. I really haven't played much this year.

Actually had a really productive lesson today. Before everything went really shitty I thought I had a good lesson, but learned today that the "good lesson" change was leading to an even worse error. Luckily it was caught with my first swing, and after about 5-10 minutes working on it, was flushing it. We'll see, but one thing it did confirm for me is the importance of 2-3 lessons and not just outliers.
41 - 43 = 84

I'm out of the "maybe I'll quit golf" stage. Last year I would not have been excited at all about an 84, but after feeling like I had truly lost any swing and would never get it back, it felt great. It especially felt great because I was hitting it really well, possibly the best in my "modern" golf era.

That actually led to some of my bad holes: I am hitting the ball a good 10 yards further for each club. E.g., on #3 I hit a good drive on a longish-for-me par 4 and was 165 out. That's usually a 5H for me, but I flew the green (no wind). E.g. #2, I'm about 130 out, which is a 9i for me. Again, flew it.

Couple of wedge and chipping mishaps that I'm not too worried about. Excited to get out again.

Oh, and for what it's worth, the pretty damn simple change with the lesson was shallowing out my swing. My swing is in the normal range now, but it FEELS like I'm going way shallow.

Hit the ball decently for the most part, putting was abysmal. Triple was the result of a bad bunker shot.

Team Scramble event with handicaps which every teams were like around 10 on average.

I got teamed up with a 26 and a 30 HC'ers, We all had to have 6 tee shots each. Won't lie I thought this was going to be a nightmare looking at my team. However I couldn't be more wrong. It was the most stress free round ever. Super steady -2 on the front and -2 on the back with 0 bogeys on the card. -4 total and come tied 2nd but lost on count back so ended up coming 3rd.

I'm hitting the driver so well at the moment and I have a predictable one way miss which is left. Best drive of the day was on the 8th. 260 yard par 4, The other 2 lay up and put in position. I hit driver perfect as soon as I hit it I was like "oh that's good", Lands just short and bounces 10 feet right of the flag, Unfortunately it through the green and ended up going about 270 but a decent chance at a eagle but ended up with a tap in birdie.

Here it is below.

37-34-71 +2 .... 1 Birdie, 3 Bogeys

Normally Sundays are just a mess around but as we had a Scramble event yesterday, 8 of us decided to play some serious golf and put in a general play scores whilst play best of 3 scores (Stableford) in each group for a team game.

1 Bogey was on a small par 3. Tee was up and it was a funky yardage whilst being down wind went a little long.

Other Bogey was on a Par 5 probably deserved. Sniped the driver left into to big stuff then had to 9 iron out and had 200 in or something. Messed up the 4 iron in and then hit a good 9 iron to 7 feet. Missed the putt.

Last Bogey was on 17th .... 3 Putt which is a shame was really good inside like 6 feet today.

Birdie was a chip in on a par 5, Nailed a rescue about 200 out into wind and went 20 over the green on a bare lie. Chipped a 60 on and went in.

We won the team thing. I'm not sure how as my team were god awful so many 3 off the tee's.

I will never understand how some days I cannot figure out anything and the next day I'm fine. Ball striking wasn't perfect but it was a heck of a lot better. Really, the only thing that sucked was wedges in the 20-80 yard range. Cost me both doubles, were completely unnecessary.

Super surprised that we didn't have to wait on a single shot all day. Course was busy - Fathers Day of course - but there must have been a gap ahead of us, didn't really catch up until 17. Never saw the group behind us. What a treat.

Saturday: 41 - 40 = 81

Three doubles and three birdies. Played great, feeling it.

Sunday: 51 - 53 = 104

Still played pretty good! It was US Open day, and in addition to the hardest pin placements on the course, the pro set it up to be 7,350 yards, with tee boxes behind greens, etc (our black tees max at about 6,500). It was stupid, but fun. I had 10 penalty strokes, mostly because of the rule on most of the extended holes that opposite fairways were out of bounds. It was a lot of fun, but I simply don't hit it far enough to score on a 7,350 yard course (especially when most are gimmicky with wacky angles).
