+6 today hit it pretty well and even putted pretty well other than the 1st green. I just simply couldn't hole a putt everything just brushed the hole or came up an inch short of the hole right in the front door.

43-43-86. No birdies, 4 double bogeys.

Pretty frustrating. With a couple exceptions I hit the irons great. Had six or seven birdie putts inside eight feet. Not only did I not make a single one, I only so much as hit the hole on one or two them. Just horrible. Had probably half a dozen other shots that weren't great but really this should have been several strokes better.

2 Birdies/8 Bogeys

1 of the Birdies was a chip in and it was a pretty tough chip.

Other birdie was from a good pitch on a par 5 got it within a foot.

Super windy day and on 17 I hit the shot of the day. Hit driver close to out of bounds on the left, Crappy lie had about 180ish into wind to a back flag. I had over hanging trees and couldn't go straight at the green as tree's and bunker's were at the front, The only shot I had was to play a low punchy 4 iron and hit it with a bit of a hook. Executed it near enough perfect got it running up the right side of the green and then started come left to pin high about 20 feet, Unfortunately missed the birdie putt but tap in Par.

Come 2nd in this mini tournament we had between the 7 of us.

Tied my best round ever with 73 today. Had it 2 deep after 14 and promptly doubled 15 but made two good pars on 16 and 17 and then had a putt for even par on 18. Decent bogie as it’s a hard hole and my tee shot wasn’t great with the nerves.

14 greens, 3 fairways, 33 putts. 4 birdies, 3 bogies and a double.

70.9/130 - 1.8 differential which is a lot better than my current 9.3 index

Nice round!

44-43-87. No birdies, an assortment of double bogeys, one of which may have been a triple. Whatever.

Moved back a set of tees, really didn't need to but I play whatever tees the people I'm playing with want to play. Ball striking was a little variable but mostly good, putting again bad. Sand play was abysmal. Spent about half the round on tilt due to bad short game and irritating playing partners.

May have found a little something with the wedges late in the round, had really good pitches on 14, 15 and 17 and a good 3/4 wedge on 16. We'll see if it carries over. Forecast is decent for next weekend so the season isn't quite over yet.

Played *******urst Manor (Not sure why the link becomes broken when I put in as a actual direct link so can only post the name of the course here.)

Went round in 84 +14 Playing off the tips.

Was a bit annoying kept on raining on and off.

Pretty happy with it though and it was a joy to go round with a scratch golfer. Just unreal how good this guy is, More so from 120 yards and in. Then his putting was amazing think he went round in level Par.

Playing round a proper rack tomorrow which will be a test. Not super long but from the last time I played it like 10 years ago and from the improvements they've done, it's a pretty tricky test. They hold the Rose Ladies thing here, I think it's where it all started to be honest.

The above is the same track as here

Havent swung a club in a few weeks. Came here looking for tales of chip in birdies and fairway hole outs, as I often do. This round is fantastic. Well done.

But seriously, needs more miracle shots imo.

The unfortunate bit is that for someone like me (high single digit and not long or flashy) is that good golf is boring golf :-/

But I do blog these up for a bunch of golf degen friends I have so I present in spoiler for your reading the details of my round:

Spoiler:
Hole 1 - 383y par 4 - 3w to right rough, wedge to about 25 feet away and tapped in for par. E

Hole 2 - 591y par 5 - Driver to right rough. Solid hybrid to 120 ish and wedge to 10 feet, but just miss. E

Hole 3 - 408y par 4 - Driver to right rough, 8i to 25 feet and two putts. E

Hole 4 - 340y par 4. 3w to left fairway, pulled my wedge to about 30 feet but drain it to get to -1

Hole 5 - 184y par 3. Don’t hit it great but catch the front edge of the green about 50 feet away tho. Hit the first putt 7 feet by and miss the come backer. Bogie E

Hole 6 - 363y par 4. Driver kind of through the fairway just into the left rough. Wedge to 8 feet but it broke a foot and I played a cup lol nice read. E

Hole 7 - 496 par 5. Driver pulled left rough but hybrid from 235 to the back edge of the green. Two putt birdie from about 40 feet; back to -1

Hole 8 - 386 par 4. Water left so I hit driving iron and hit it shitty - 170ish in the right rough and don’t hit the 7i great at all. Chip it solid but it rolled out 10 feet past and I missed for par. E

Hole 9 - 170y par 3. Down hill slightly and some help wind - got my adjustment dead on and hit it to 12 feet. Miss but tap for even par front nine.

Hole 10 - 347y par 4. 3w to middle of fairway - 81y to a front pin, slightly uphill. Choose a shitty club and catch it high on the face - come up 15y short. Clipped a chip nicely and made a 3 footer for par. E

Hole 11 - 375y par 4. Driver to left rough 120 in. Awesome pw to 18 inches and roll it in for birdie. -1

Hole 12 - 481 par 5. Uphill and into a light wind. Driver pulled just into left rough 240 in hybrid smashed pin high right of green. Solid chip but again it rolled out and miss a 10 footer. -1

Hole 13 - 356y par 4. 3w to right rough - first nervy swing. But 115y in and hit a great high wedge that cover a bunker and settles pin high and 15 feet away. Cash it. -2!!

Hole 14 - 145y par 3. Great 9i pin high and 18-20 feet ish away. Just miss but speed has been great all day and I tap t stay -2.

Hole 15 - 571 par 5. Shitty hole - fairway ended at 245 and it’s just rough mostly but some long grasses left and right before the fairway starts again at 280+ so I hit driving iron to the end of the fairway just into rough. Second bad club choice I grabbed 3w from 350 instead of hitting hybrid or 3i. Overcut / almost slice it right into a dry hazard about 105 short. Tall grass thing in front and about 40y to carry to back to grass. Smash a gap wedge and it gets almost back to the rough but still in some whispy taller grass. Great angle and plenty of green to work with but kind of chunk it and it’s soft so it just gets into rough and still short of green. Ugh. Hit a decent chip but it lands on fringe instead of green and comes up 15 feet short. Miss. Double. Even

Hole 16 - 151y par 3. Between 8 and 9 and go 8 and pure the **** out of it to the back right of the green. 55 or so feet and up a slope with 15 feet of break. Hit an awesome putt and roll in the 6 footer for par - awesome 2 putt. Even.

Hole 17 - 323y par 4. It’s 275 to the flag dog leg right drivable par 4 with a lake 240 carry. If you don’t send it at green it’s a 160-180 layup down the fairway then a wedge across the water. I hem and haw but know that iron play is my game so I don’t go for it and blast a 7i down the fairway and hit a really solid one. 108y in and make my 3rd bad club selection and hit 54* instead of 50*. So come up a bit short but roll the 30 footer to tap in range and go to 18 even.

I’ve never shot even or under par for 18 so I’m pretty nervous.

Hole 18 - 396 par 4. Bunkers up the right and the hole turns slightly right and then over water to a two tier green. I decide 3w is the best play but hit a nervy low cutty one and it just misses the bunker and I’ve got 170 from the right rough. Need to carry it 165 to take care of the front tier and get it up too so I swing 7i and yank it to the back left bunker. Hit a solid bunker shot that had to carry a lot of sand and rough and lands just short of pin but it rolls out to edge of green. 20 feet for par but I miss just right but tap it in. +1

bitter sweet but I think I mostly made good decisions and stayed aggressive and tried to make birdies instead of trying to protect the score. Two bad wedge selections were meh. Wish I had hit iron for my second shot on 15. Would have had 150 in at worst and with how well I was swinging it maybe would have had a decent look at birdie still. Oh well. More comfortable being under and at par than I’ve ever been. It’ll happen.

Thanks. Good story. You should probably add some exaggeration and embellishments for flair lol.

That nervy low cut is my go to, but I havent been in a "best round thru 15" or some such situation in 1.5 seasons.

"Hole 11 - 375y par 4. Driver to left rough 120 in. Awesome pw to 18 inches and roll it in for birdie"

My favorite part.

I got a hole in one way back in 2005. Every single decent iron shot ive hit since looks like it might go in. First I hit it and I think that feels good. Look to where I expect it to be flying and if its right there I always start thinking it might drop.

Its exactly that which keeps me coming back.

I gathered up 8 of the best old shitty balls I had and walked alone. I teed up my second to last ball on 9. Launched it no slice, but directly at the neighborhood to the right. I gave a loud fore, and walked back to the parking lot.

1 par. 1 bogey.

Played yesterday and if we hadn't booked time off work to play we wouldn't have bothered. Was hosing down, standing water on the first few greens and 20mph+ winds.
Started well and even commented to my partner that it's the best start I've had for ages and I don't want to be out there playing!
Fortunately the rain stopped after 3 holes and it was quite a nice afternoon.

After having a decent run of a birdie every round I hadn't had one for quite some time. I've never had more than 2 in a round...

3 birdies, 7 pars, 7 bogeys, 1 double for a 78 (+6), smashing my previous PB by 4 shots, both breaking 80 & shooting even par for 9 holes for the 1st time ever!

43 (37) / 35 (35) with 31 putts & 9 GIR.

Dropped my handicap by 1.5 strokes too; for me it was utterly ridiculous golf

39-41-80. No birdies, 1 double bogey.

Super windy day, also got rain the last three or four holes. Ball striking much above average, putting was mostly OK, though I didn't make too many. Would have been nice to make the 5 footer for birdie on 18 to break 80 but oh well. Wasn't aware at the time.

no birdies, many doubles

First time touching a club in a week and it showed. Totally uncomfortable over the ball. Did end up good with 6 pars on the last 6 holes.

Highlight of the day is someone in our group had a hole in one. It was the fifth one in his lifetime and first one in 20 years. It was right at the hole but with glare we didn't see it go in. I grabbed my laser and don't see it on the green. I knew with 100% certainty that it was in. Sure was. The free drinks were good too!

Winter has finally kicked in at the UK although not really cold the weather has been ass. High winds all week making my local shut for a few days then just heavy down pours for the past couple of days. Turned up this morning to play but I know as I was driving down we weren't going to play so didn't even bother getting the clubs out of the car. Hoping to get a game tomorrow just depends if there will be standing water on the course. Fingers crossed now as I'm itching to play

Not much season left here as it was 45 and breezy yesterday but played one tee forward of normal to help account for the ball not going anywhere and it was an overall good day. Walked with the push cart which I haven’t done enough of lately.

38-38 76

Hit 7 fairways, 11 greens and made 3 birdies. 2 doubles but none was egregious just a little sloppy with tough pins.

All 3 birdies were mid range putts of 9, 10 and 15 feet so always good to see a few of those falls. Driver and tee game was meh to decent. Irons and wedges solid. Short game really shined minus two awful chips on par 5s where I was within 25 yards of he green in 2 and didn’t get either birdie looks inside 10 feet :-/

Night and day compared to yesterday for me.

36-38-74

2 birdies, 4 bogeys

Story of my golfing life though. Was -1 on the 16th tee. Hit a good drive but went through the fairway and in the water. Half the ball was submerged, put the rain gear on and hit it. Got it near the green from 115y out, but made bogey. Then bogey 17 and 18. Still can't CLOSE.

What part of the world are you in?

Was it a predetermined end or is it like the last day before it gets too cold/snowy?

I’m right on the edge of the mountains in Colorado so we have some courses with hard close dates and others that go until the permanent snow is on the ground. It’s been a cold snowy fall but a few options are still available and I hope we get through thanksgiving with a few decent days per week to try and get out.

Michigan.

This particular course has a hard closing day, announced well in advance. But a bunch of others have also announced that they're closed or closing for the season. Supposed to snow this weekend and no decent days in the 10 day.

There are a couple options that will be open if it's anywhere close to playable, just no what to predict what the winter will bring.

i suppose it's hard to justify paying a pro shop full of employees this time of year in many places
and announcing a shutdown time let's them have a deadline to find winter employment if they so choose.
speaking of that...courses around here at ~1,500 ft or so have also announced this is the last weekend until spring, thankfully plenty of others to play year long
