Team scramble today we got -9 vs their -5

We had the far better team overall given we had me and another guy who are half decent inside like 120 yards.

Change to the midsize +4 grips and it just feels so much more solid, Was always fiddling with my grip with the smaller grips. Still a small sample so will have to monitor it a little but as for feel alone it’s solid.

Par 72
10 pars, 6 bogeys, 2 doubles, no birdies

Pretty solid round overall. Drove it much better. Iron play solid. Gave myself some good looks. Missed a few makeable birdie putts.

Played a fried egg event Monday at Prairie Dunes. Super fun course and it was great to get 36 holes in. Played the back/one up combo which was too much for me between the 50 degree weather and 2-3 club wind I shot a million (91) but it was fun as hell. Made a few pars and had a few decent putts for birdie. Great property, the routing and green complexes are very interesting and the par 3s are hard and memorable. Fun place

We played alt shot in the afternoon and I’ve never done true alternate shot and it was a blast. Moved up tees and we knew a little more where to try to be on most holes so it was surprisingly decent (84) for two 8 handicaps.

Played wolf creek just outside KC Sunday. Nothing special but it was hard. Then we played Flint Hills National Tuesday and it was a really amazing place - pretty decent fazio course that was a lot of fun. We had a great forecaddie who helped me make a few putts and told a lot of jokes. If you’re in the Wichita area and can swing that one it’s worth checking out.

Played a guy today, match play at my local, Overall I shot +4 and still lost on the 18th due to his birdie on the last. I gave him a shot a hole so was pretty tough going. He turned up, Got a Bogey on 1 to half, Drove the green on 2 which was like 260ish but he 3 putted. On 3 he got a good bogey which was a tough par 5 into a stiff breeze, By this point he was 2 up through 3, 4th 190yard Par 3 a little up hill down wind, Flagged was tucked behind a bunker on the top tier and he has hit a 4 iron right over the top of it was unlucky cause it went through the back, but I thought f**k this match might be over soon

Good match though, Always good when you're actually playing for something even if it was just bragging rights.

74 +5 ... 3 Birdies 1 Double 1 Triple 3 Bogey's 10 Pars.

Started off so well with a Birdie Par then went Double Triple. The triple come from me topping my tee shot on a par 3 into a pond ... Managed to get another birdie and get round the front in +4

Then 1 over on the back 9 with 1 other birdie and 2 bogey's

The way I was hitting it though I thought I was going to be close to 80's, Short game and Putting was really good.

42-43-85. 1 birdie, a couple doubles, a **** ton of bogeys.

Short game epic fail. Oh well, hard to be too upset when it's in the 70s this late in the year.

39-42 81

Had a great round going. No doubles and nothing higher than a 5 going into the last hole and after playing really well 15 & 17 dead into the wind made a triple on 18 to ruin an otherwise amazing day of hitting it.

3 club wind and absolutely just fanned an 8 iron short right into the pond :-/

Hadn’t lost a ball or made a double all day and then puked it up

Hit 8 fairways 12 greens (38 putts tho; didn’t make anything longer than 4 feet). Overall happy with hitting it well considering the wind but the putting and the finish left me slightly bummed

3 birdies, 3 doubles

First time touching a club in a week so not terrible.

The 3 doubles I can excuse only one of em. Ball was sitting about 20 feet away from a gator (and a big one at that). I tried to get it to move but I'm not going to grab its tail or anything. Decided to drop it (was in the penalty area).

It was 60 yesterday. Snowed today. We still have a month of decent golf in front but the realization it can end at anytime with a big storm is always tough.

47 on the front, +4 though five on the back when we had to quit.

Tough scoring conditions, greens are super quick. Played better than I scored.

Hit my best drive of the season on 11, a baby cut that fit the shape of the hole perfectly. Got some downhill assist but it was into the wind, got 275 out of it which is stellar for my usually sub 100 mph driver swing speed.

Nice. I got to play there my senior year of high school. I assume it's still men only? When I was there women could drive onto the grounds to pick up their husbands but were required to stay in the car.

It is. I’ve now played butler national and wolf creek with this same group of guys so my gf jokes I’m heading down a slippery slope of misogyny.

45-40 85 for the last round of the year.

Hit it ok apart from 2 penalty strokes off the tee which led to doubles.

Short game was awful which is to be expected when I play once a month and don't practice. Four 3-putts, chipping was not dialed.

That just seems crazy to me in year 2022. Do they have any female employees?

Nope. All guys at both of those places. Not great

I think Chicago has like 4 of the 12 men's only golf clubs left in the US.

Butler
Old Elm
Bob-O-Link
Black Sheep

Only played Butler out of the 4. There's a great public course I play quite a bit that shares a fence line with Bob-O-Link.

I got to play Butler in a college event my sophomore year. Then Shoal Creek happened and the NCAA wouldn't allow Butler to host, they moved us to Cog Hill #2 the next year. Cog was great of course, but not as good as Butler. Butler should also be remember as where Lee Trevino got struck by lightning and fried his back.

Other men only clubs I know of are Preston Trail here in Dallas, and Lochinvar in Houston. Apparently Pine Valley allowed women in last year for the first time.

At The Old Course!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to my caddy I think, also was only in 1 bunker, which required going 20 yards backwards and played the same ball the whole round.

Just amazing and my new favorite course. The Road hole might be perfect in my mind and the only hole I can think of where a building adds to the hole.

The caddy said 12 of the pins that day were used this year in the open, joking someone was in a bad mood that morning. They were insane and impossible to get close, so many 2 putts. Biggest takeaways are the greens are insane and I have never walked up and down so much on a dead flat course.

Will post pictures when I get back

75 Tuesday

35-37-27 today

4 birdies, 4 bogeys

Was -3 standing on the 15th tee. I am playing up a tee however since someone is just coming back from injury in the group. To put into perspective that was worth a 2.2 on GHIN.

Played 2 lots of 9 holes the past 2 days

both +2

1 was on the front and 1 was on the back.

Pretty happy with the score saying that though today when I played the back I was level par on our 8th hole then went bogey bogey kinda frustrating.

Oh I did play a forest course the other day, irrc I was +8 around that had 3 Birdies. 2 on Par 3's I must admit 1 of them was really lucky. Think I zapped the flag at around 190 into the wind, Bunkers short and left of the hole and a bush and a mound on the right. I've bladed a 4 iron I was like this is in the bunker, It's quite a big lip on it as well. I've managed to clear the bunker by a foot and then I thought well this isn't going to stop and I'm going to be pretty dead here. Well it rolled up to the right on to the mound and came back down and rolled all the way back to the flag and stopped a foot away ... my playing partners wasn't happy as that effectively ended the match on the 16th hole.

Another highlight I drove a par 4 in one, Only like 250 or so but it was all over the flag but landed 10 feet short. Didn't hole the eagle tough green but gave it a good shout but tap in birdie.

Emergency 9 this am before the sun came up. Didn't even see the ball land off of the first tee. -1 35, 2 birdies, 1 bogey

Edit, technically only played 7 holes. Skipped the last two as the mowers were still out.
