Also I think I know one contributing factor to my higher back 9 scores. Approach shots just come in from longer distances. On non-par 3's on the front today (less the topped 1st tee shot and long approach on the par 5) I had no more than 160y into the green. Also other than that one I had no more than PW into any green.

On the back 9 my approaches were 9 iron, 9 iron, 50*, 8 iron, 7 iron, 8 iron, and PW.

Not a HUGE difference but averaging 1-2 clubs extra is significant for proximity to me. I feel very confident with PW or less, better than average with 8-9, ok with 7, and meh with a 5 or 6.

I'm exactly the same. I feel REALLY good with PW in (probably to the point that I pin seek maybe a bit more than I should).

The 4 birdies were all inside of 15 feet. Was throwing darts early. Managed to put 7 3's on the card, and I didn't even par one of the par 3's.
assuming this is the most common par 72 layout, is this your roundabout way of telling us you had three eagles?
if that is in fact true, adding the birds means you were -10 over those seven holes, so you need a 12 stroke swing over the remaining 11 holes to get to +2 for the round. with only the lone double, does that mean you didn't have a par?

8i in for me all day long

played in a scramble last week with three guys i know professionally (different companies) but not on the course.
turns out one of them played a little college golf and he had a couple of drives end up ~320ish from the tee. let's just say i don't often have 185 yd second shots to par 5 greens.

41 (par 35). No birdies, 1 double bogey.

Two unnecessary penalty strokes and a couple minor screwups but had a stretch of really solid ball striking. Hope it continues.

Heck I had 185 for my third shot on the par 5 tonight and that was after one of my best drives of the season.

Shot my career low - 82 (+10)
For the 1st time ever no double bogeys or worse.
1 birdie, 11 bogeys. Nice, sensible 'boring' golf.
Only came close to making 1 double in the round when on the 17th I ended up in a green side bunker in an awful lie and air mailed the green from there. I had a horrible chip back off a down slope, hit it too hard and fortunately it hit the flag and stopped in tap in range.
Also drained a nasty 15ft par putt on the last to beat my previous PB of 83.

All in all a very satisfying round!

Well done uno.

Was pretty hot here yesterday for noontime round. Some cloud cover for short periods. I walked the 18 hole course with two strangers riding a cart. They apologized in advance, but there was no need as the foursome in front of us was easy to keep up with.

Course features big fairways, light rough, semi fast greens, moderate bunkering, and zero water trouble(irrigation between 1st fairway and 18th teebox is difficult to find if you're not trying to hit it there.

42-46-88(36-35-71) Official score today; fairly clean round. Down 1 ball on the day(2nd shot out of bounds on 12).

Started with 5 straight bogeys. Was going Ok tee to green. More putts than there could have been if I practiced more. Then finished the front par bogey par par. +6 is my personal best here on the front and ties my personal best for any 9 hole stretch(probably 2 years ago).

Double bogey on 10. Wrong club launched a pitching wedge long but I guess it was better than dropping the 54 degree in the front bunker.

11 is a little over 300 yards. Crescent fairway around gross rough on the right with some 15 foot pine trees between tee and green. The pines are just far enough away that a good drive clears them. Set up for a draw with starting line directly at the green. Found it 15 paces short of the front edge center of the bottleneck. Almost sunk the pitch to the back of the green. Tap in from 4 inches for 1st birdie in a long time.

Then I tripled 12. Couldn't par 13 despite being a foot off the front edge in 2.

Pw to 15 feet on 14. Par.

3 wood(driver would miss left under trees; 3 wood tends to cut if I try to hit straight) on 16th tee left 105. 54 degree wedge to 10 feet. Bogey.

6 iron a foot off the front edge on 17. Hit it a little fat. Bogey

Doubled 18.

36 (par 36). 1 birdie, 1 bogey. 4/7 fairways, 7/9 greens, 15 putts.

That was fun. No chips or pitches required, was able to putt from just off the green 2x. One bad shot total. Made a few clutch putts but left a birdie or two on the table.

In this club cup comp today happens annually and it's named after one of our current members in which I had the pleasure of playing with him today, had a lot of people playing today which was nice. What wasn't nice is me getting randomly drawn in the last group, **** it was a long day

Ball striking still meh, short game just getting me round, I did feel like on the 15th I found something but only time will tell if I can carry it on will find that out tomorrow.

40-42-82. No birdies, no double bogeys. 69.8/128/6166 yards. Quail Ridge GC, Ada, MI.

Another new course to me. I never did manage to read the greens correctly, constantly screwed up both the slope and the break. Ball striking was hit and miss.

tidy 9 Booker. curious if you counted those from off the green in your putt count?

Nope, putts on the green only. I didn’t do a very good job in the description, should have said no chips or pitches that required an iron or wedge.

Two chipputts from two inches and two feet off the green.

Play a team game today. Think they called it Golden Ball. 3v3's best 2 stableford count for each team on each hole. The Golden Ball is rotated every hole player to player and whatever you get points wise you get double. For example a Par 4 with no shots and you par it will be 4 for 2 but will the Golden ball you'll get 4 for 4. If you lose the ball you lose it for the rest of the round.

I had a pretty easy run with the Golden ball as the holes I got it was pretty straight forward holes. However I bladed a wedge on a Par 3 had to shout "fore" to the other team that was in front as it was going to the next tee. I short sided myself with the flag. It was tough pitch to even get a 10ft Putt some how I played it perfect and holed out for a 2.

Was hitting the ball a lot better today still some iffy shots here and there but recoverable.

Beat the other team by 6 or something, Was super fun though. We lost our Ball on 17 and they lost it on 18.

1 birdie, 9 pars, 3 doubles, 1 triple

Pretty good ball-striking day by my recent standards. Hit a bunch of GIR and two-putted most of them.
Two drives OB sank my chances to break 80. Driver still a mess.

seemed like a lot of putts, but when you aren't missing greens...

43-43-86 (-4 net), par 71 70.1/127 ~6300 yds.
four pars, one double, one penalty (not the double)
wasted my best driving day in quite some time with utter dogshit iron play
had a stretch in the middle where i lost the driver swing but got it back. 8 FIR and three others that were just as good.
2 GIR and one of those was a par 3.
both GIR with hybrid from 190+, including a par 5 after topping my 3w second.
30 putts with six one putts, five of those for bogey. eight two putt bogies, and my short game was solid for me. let's just say i found myself greenside several times laying 3 because of my utter dogshit iron play. i had a couple full swing wedges and a single 7i that were respectable, the rest trash misses both directions

43 - 39 = 82

Played a two man best ball at a course I haven’t played in 10 years; lack of course knowledge really hurt. Partner screwed me on one: short par 4, but large penalty area you can’t see from the tee. Partner tells me to hit the club that will land at the 150 stake. I hit it perfectly, lands right where I expected, and we can’t find it when we get up there. Well, turned out the 150 was right at the top of a very steep incline, and landing it there coasted it right into the water. It was also clear when we got up there that the penalty area was definitely clearable with a driver. Oh well, can’t blame anyone but myself for the rest of the round, I struck the ball horribly. I had two good drives I can remember (luckily the rest weren’t horrible), and maybe three iron shots that were actually “good.” Wedges were still solid, though.

One of my good ones was knocking it to 4 feet on a 170 yard par 3, which was our third hole. I felt like I had a good chance at the KP given the length of hole and pin location, but someone notched me.

42-40-82. No birdies, 1 double bogey. 67.8/126/5500 yards.

Senior tees again today. Ball striking wasn't perfect but much of it, especially on the back nine, was very very good (for me). Recovery shots were awful and putting only so-so.

Thought I hit a lot of fairways, went back to count and actually hit 13/14.

Lot of greens too, 14/18.

Clearly putts did not fall. Had 2 3-putt bogeys.
