Duke Univ GC was a washout yesterday

Today was Brier Creek CC

Really nice course near the RDU airport. Houses lining the course were extremely nice, plenty far back away from the course too. Arnold Palmer design, ClubCorp course.

40-38-78

1 birdie, 1 double

Not a huge fan on the front nine, some really tall trees sitting really close to the right side of the fairway 50 yards off the box. When wind is coming from that direction it's tough. Back nine is really good. Greens were really fast

43 (par 36). No birdies, 1 double bogey.

First two drives were good. Third one? Moonball popup into a pond. Nice double jackass. Fourth one was another skyball but at least it was straight.

Should have made a couple more putts, other than the driver the ball striking was fine.

First 9 in a long time. Walked. Didnt sweat and wasnt cold in a polo shirt. Lots of mediocre shots. Hadn't swung a club in over 2 months I believe. Played with 2 strangers at par 34 nine hole complex. Warmed up with 3 wood on 1st tee. Ranger said skip to par 3 fourth. Ok. I pulled a 7 iron into a tree on the left. Hard knock. Drop behind green.

Decent 3 wood off 5th tee.

Made 2 putt par on 8.

Topped 3 wood from fairway enough to change to 5 wood. Hit 5 wood to 20 feet from 195. Missed par putt.

Didn't keep track.

Yesterday - Devil's Ridge in Holly Springs, NC

39-37-76

1 birdie, no doubles

Played there in member-guest last fall so I know the course well. Hit the last 10 greens in reg and had 21 putts in that stretch. Damn bent grass greens.

Today - Back home

39-41-80

no birdies, no doubles

Couldn't putt for ****.

Normally I'd say yes, but since the rest of my team was ho-hum and another team was lights out we actually lost the team game. They can use that money for a drink.

Decided to put in a general play scorecard in today at a golf course that isn't my favourite. Conditions were amazing little breeze and sun was out. The condition of the course was awesome, Best I've actually seen it and for £20 for a midday tee time value for money was great.

66.4/108

41-41-82 +12

Everything was just bang average today, didn't really hit the driver well and on a tight course it didn't really help. Was having a decent back 9 until the 16th from then on I went Double Double Bogey.

The only shots that stand out was a drive on 8 that probably went around 300 (Was down hill), A 3 Wood out the semi rough on a tough Par 4 and put it to 10 feet. Then a Fairway Bunker shot from about 140ish. I hit a 8 Iron and put it where I wanted to but I mistakenly though the pin was at the front and not the back.

About to play the roll up in a bit not expecting much.

Implemented a swing thought/change from a video I found in this forum and it's working so far! Last round shot an 82 with a 23 course handi for a smooooth net 59. Since I started working on it, my three scores are 97-92-82. In the 92, I tied my personal best with 9 GIR, but had a couple botches and a 3 hole stretch where I was forgetting a key component for me.

i'm curious which video, and i also recognize you may be hesitant to say it out loud in fear the magic will break

43-43-86. No birdies, 2 double bogeys.

Played up a set of tees so this is pretty poor. Had a couple birdie putts skate right over the hole without dropping. Ball striking was pretty variable. Nothing too terrible, just didn't do anything to help the score.

Only had one 43. Skull and crossbones on 9, only to recover expertly on 10!

U guys ever seen successive 3s like that on both 9s of a 72?

Trying to recall which thread it was in. It was basically that if you just think “set your wrists”on the backswing the turn automatically happens. I have often been very sway-y and my arms get disconnected on backswing. This thought is keeping me much more centered and connected.

On one hand ha yeah I figure it will break but on the other, I’m just making a much more fundamentally sound move that logically delivers the clubface solidly back to the ball more often. I’m def not dumb enough to anticipate averaging 82 or lower here on out!

Sounds like this video could be wrong.

43-44-87 (par 36-37-73). 1 birdie, 4 double bogeys. 70.4/135/6205 yards. Pilgrim's Run GC in Pierson, MI

A fairly frustrating day, managed to screw up something on most holes. Did not convert on far too many short range putts. Ball striking highly variable. Chipping and pitching was mostly quite good.

It was this one!

Of course to no one's surprise, my swing was broken for most of today, LOL.

Birdie 1, then stripe tee shot on 2. Very meh wedge, then short game disaster for double. OK whatever. Fine shot on par 3 third, hit a step next to the green then rolled literally 50 yards down the cart path, make double. OK. Then just have an error on every hole. Nothing below double bogey on the front after the bird, out in 54. GROSS.

Bogey 10 missing a 5 foot slider for par. Triple 11 in annoying fashion, then a double bogey after shank iron on 12. Need to finish the last 6 in +3 or better to break 100 ffs. Luckily I figured out what I was borking, and did it!

Go birdie-par-3putt bogey (had a super downhill 30 footer on slow greens and missed the speed) - bogey - double - par to close. The double was a long par 3 where I hit 5w pin high but about 20 yards left and woofed my first pitch then missed a 6 foot bogey. 54-45--99. But came away feeling solid about knowing what I need to do.

Also had some short game woes, have been adjusting my technique, and wasn't committing to it after the disaster on 2. Nothing worse on chips or pitches than lack of confidence. I'm using my core to turn through, using the pivot to control distance. When I actually DO it, it comes off great. When I'm scared, I stop turning at the ball and then it's only arms and chunks or skulls ensue.

don't recall double 3s on both sides before. that nine hole stretch between them is odd with eight 4s and one 5.

there's a course in the area that's five 3s, eight 4s, and five 5s.
this 9 hole stretch in the middle is par 37 and lots of fun with the 3s and 5s mixed in.

the only back-to-back 3s i can remember playing are Pacific Dunes 10 & 11. there are two sets of tees on 10, the image below is from the upper. the lower are closer and a bit more sheltered.
images by Wood Sabold (not me, although i've seen days like this).

For sure! Being able to understand what you're supposed to do, feeling what you are actually doing, and being able to get it back on track is huge!

MGA event yesterday. Rotated tees red, white, blue. The red tees only helped on one par 4 making it 245 yards. It did make two of the par 5's significantly shorter as well. I shot a lovely 81. Our team was DFL in gross (by 7) and net (by 5) scoring. Teams were random with A, B, C, and D players.

Only make one birdie but it did hold up as a skin so I doubled my $.
