38-41 = 78

Monthly team play. Started on 16 in high winds coming from the side (very unusual at my course) and started bogey-bogey on easy holes. After that struck the ball really well. I love the new putter and wish I had charged earlier. Didn’t miss a putt inside ten feet and got everything close.

39-40-79

1 birdie, 3 doubles

Only one completely terrible swing on the day.

Love both of those!

1st time swinging in months. 60+ degrees mid November in Massachusetts. Couldn't resist.

Hit fairway and green on 1. Par

Hit fairway and good layup on 2. 3rd shot just into back rough. Chip didnt stop. Par putt from the skirt was terrible 15 feet past. Played about 10 feet of break and gave it a tap tapparoo down the hill. It fell for bogey.

Addressed tee shot on 3. Guys phone goes off and I didn't step away. I never step away when distracted. In the trees. Miraculous escape. 5 iron over the green should have been 6 iron from light rough. Made double.

4th hole is a short par 3 playing 102 from the White tees today. There is pond to clear from 20 yards to 80 yards. I skulled a 54 degree wedge so perfectly that it took two skips over the pond and stopped about 15 feet from the pin towards the back of the green. The guys loved it.

Ho hum double on 5.

Got out of bunker in 1 try on 6. I forgot outcome but typical 2 or 3 putt from 25 feet.

Ho hum double on 7.

Hit exactly what I was aiming tee shot at on 8. Unfortunately that target is the singular small tree in the middle of the fairway directly at the hard dogleg left. Approach made the fringe narrowly making it between some trees. Decent chip to 6 feet. Then I picked up after 3 putts lol.

Addressed tee shot on 9. Guys phone goes off on the adjacent hole. I stepped back and realigned myself for the first time ever(I dont count the time guy critiqued my setup while I was addressing). I consider this a win for that hole despite launching my 2nd shot into the woods. I called it quits because I was gonna be 5 mins late for doctors appointment anyway.

I hope theyre telling the tale of the par I made with some help from the pond.

How people react to sounds are funny. People in my group and can be talking in the background and I can hit no problem, doesn't distract me at all. A cell phone, yeah, I'd probably step off.

Last year my buddy and I were paired with a guy at Bandon who needed DEAD SILENCE to hit. He snapped at one of the caddies for (pretty quietly) closing a zipper as he addressed the ball. Best moment, though, was he was getting ready to putt and a maintenance cart drove by, but not on our hole and at least 150 yards away. Dude stepped off completely and turned and glared, then looked at us and shook his head. Of course he was probably a 15 handicap who decided to quit keeping score after the 8th hole....

I'm fairly cool with people making sounds during my swings. I do have a playing partner though that actually likes to have a chat to me as I'm about to step in and hit so I have to keep stepping back making sure we aren't going to carry on this conversation we are having whilst I'm swinging the club.

As long as it's constant conversation or noise it never bothers me. If it's a sudden noise then it's probably 50/50 to bother me or not.

Reminds me when I was playing the member/member a guy in our group (not my partner) went over to yell at kids making noise in their backyard about 100 yards away. Was funnier that ****, and yes, he is an ******* too.

"+1", par 36. 1 birdie, no doubles or worse.

It was nicer than forecast this afternoon so I got out and walked nine. Hit the ball well, even chipped decent though I did fail on two up and downs resulting in bogeys. Score is in quotes because not exactly strict USGA rules. Too many leaves on a couple of the greens, plus rolling the ball.

**** show today: 46 - 41 = 87

I was rushed off the first tee without warmup, which usually isn't an issue, but for whatever reason (maybe because it was freezing cold?) I could not get a swing together at all on the front nine. Four doubles on the front, one par, one birdie. I was only +3 on the back going into 18, but flubbed two chips, ending with a double.

Chalking it up to just one of those days, and we'll see what we can do tomorrow.

This always seems to happen: have an absolute blow up round right after my handicap goes down. Two 79s in a row brought my handicap down to a 9, which is the lowest it's been in a very long time.

Meh just a crap game of golf, 46 - 47 - 93

So many penalty shots. Some are unwarranted as I just couldn't find the ball in the leaf's.

I actually hate this course so much not sure why I keep playing it. It's pretty tight with so many tree's. I hit a few drives that were good but like a over hanging tree just killed me.

I had 1 highlight, I holed like a 60 foot putt on a horrible slippery green, All down hill about 15-20 feet right to left. Next hole Almost hole in one but missed the 5 foot putt as you do

41-40-81. No birdies, 1 double bogey.

Pretty decent for November. I can't remember the last time I walked 18 but it was a perfect day for it. Chipping was notably good today. If I could have stopped leaving all my putts a foot short dead in the heart it would have been a really nice round.

Heh. Came to post MY 41-40 = 80

One birdie, three doubles. Switched back to a stiff shaft and was hitting my drives a significant distance further than I was with the regular. I recognized that result when I first switched to a stiff shaft earlier in the year, and honestly can't remember when/why I switched back to regular. Knowing me I was just having a bad day and decided switching shafts would save everything. I have to put a little more effort into getting around on it to avoid leaks to the right, but worth it for the extra distance. The cold weather is definitely impacting distance, but with the stiff shaft I'm hitting about as far as I usually would with the regular.

It will be a few weeks until I play again, but second week of December is the yearly Team Play championship/dinner, and the yearly Breakfast Club dinner, so I'll get a couple rounds in there.

I remain both proud and kind of irritated that my handicap will lock in for the winter at its lowest. My weekly group will keep playing money games through the winter, I'd like to get any adjustments coming my way!

Don’t even know what I shot today, Played a pretty short course which was pretty tight. Driver/woods were great, So many times I hit the fairways with less than 150 in on most of the holes. However I cannot hit a iron shot to save my life. It’s crazy how you can be so confident with a Driver but lack so much with short irons. It’s killing my scores right now, need a few good range sessions to get something going.

this is me. pretty much don't care if you talk and don't care if you don't. it's the change in what you're doing in the middle of what i'm doing that i notice.

Going to get some 55 degree weather for the long weekend here. Looks like at least one round of golf in store!

Posting season ended earlier this month so thinking of going with either shamble (2 tee shots; play in from there) or playing the front tees and seeing how low I can go. Might go with "Misc Thread" and the take my driver holes and go out 300 yards and see what I can shoot from there... any other fun things people do for silly rounds?

I have always wanted to play a one man scramble (2 ball, not 4) just to see how it would go. Never actually tried it tho.

They have a tournament near me each year but yeah I’ve never done that either. Have the first time of the day secured with just my gf and the course is likely to be pretty empty. Might give it a shot.

i used to play a two ball scramble with myself years ago when i got out more as a single and had to wait on groups ahead of me. sometimes i'd play the best ball, sometimes the worst. there's a positive reinforcement to hit a second shot that's much better than your first just to prove to yourself you can do it.

Put a card in for my handicap yesterday shot 81 (I think you can do in off season? Not sure) Was my best round normally shooting between 72 and 78.

Played a semi decent round today if you discount a few holes,

43-44-87 Par 72 Best around this course is a 84, Not bad considering I'm not so confident with my irons, Manage to hit 56% GIR. Last hole was kind of a blow up ended up taking 3 off the tee and dropping again making a 8 in total on a relatively easy par 4, At worst you should be making 5 on this hole, Mental error by me, Could of got my score down pretty easy by 3 shots.

Putting was so so, find it difficult to adjust to the slow greens when they have a bit of moisture on them.

Playing partner almost had his 2nd hole in one hit like the bottom 3rd of the flag and bounced away for like 8 feet.

Quick question. If a ball goes in the water off the tee. Am I suppose to play 3 off the tee or just go to where it went in and take a direct line drop?

I've been playing with this guy recently as a regular I thought he was cool. Now he is just bugging the **** out of me. Like today he was trying to debate ****ing UK politics with me and my other playing partner. I just normally walk off when he starts to talk **** through a round of golf. It was actually mentally draining at times to listen to him talk today though.

Bit of a spontaneous 9 holes today, Didn't know I was going to play until like 30 mins before the tee time.

32 (-2)

4 birdies, 1 Double, 4 Pars

Double was on the 6th the hardest hole, Hit a nice drive, As I was getting up to my ball the wind got up and it started hammering down. I just rushed the shot and basically hit it 50 yards in front, Now I obviously wished I took longer over the shot could probably of saved myself at least one shot. Rain went away then Birdied 7,8 and 9 don't think I've ever had 3 birdies in a row before.

Ended up playing the front tees at my normal course Saturday. It was cold with pretty frozen greens when we started and they mostly softened up by the end but it was rough. Between the cooler weather, firm greens and wind I picked a lot of wrong clubs.

Made two birdies which is less than I would have thought but I hit it like ass off the tee and irons yesterday so I didn’t give myself a lot of looks.

Then doubled a hole where I hit it in a bush and was unplayable. Mostly still hit driver on driver holes. Dialed a few back but was noticeably closer to the hole every approach but hitting out of the rough and hitting shitty irons doesn’t result in good scoring.

So 78 with a +1 course handicap wasn’t a very good day and to be honest I didn’t manage my expectations well going into the round (thought 75 would be about the worse I’d shoot) so it was pretty frustrating. Golf is still hard; I look forward to trying it again during more normal season.
