42 last time out with a stupid double on the last hole. I'm trying to reach a par five in two and there's a hazard in the way. No problem, except that sometime in the last two days the water level went up like six feet - instead of being potentially playable in sand or long grass, I'm wet.
Finally played a decent round. Shot 72 from the blue tees at Nags Head Golf Links (where I work). 2 birdies, a bogey and a double. Rating/slope is 69.4/128.
78 today, best round of the year so far (12 handicap, trending down). Should have been even better - I didn't get up and down once and three putted a hole from 8 feet. Good thing I hit a lot of greens.
I also would have liked to have made my 5 foot birdie putt on #1 - it would have meant a birdie-birdie-birdie start for only the second time in my life.
95 yesterday. Found the water on four different holes. Still, I didn't have any real blowup holes, and I was chipping well, so I'm pretty happy with it.
the last round I shot was 99, counting every stroke, and i was playing with jupiter pig, who I always manage to play horribly around......so I wasn't very happy with that result
I played one of the most uneven rounds I have ever had today. Three birdies, three doubles, two pars, and a bogey for a 4 over 35 at my local 9 hole. Five one putts, two three putts, and two two putts. I hate this game sometimes.
Your game seems to be pretty high variance. Do you think you play too aggressive sometimes? Or do you just not have your "sea legs" under you this year. Just curious.
Ha yeah, I'll shoot 70-85 for the next few weeks depending on tees, mood, etc. I'm retooling my swing and my short game is crap so it will slowly improve. Hopefully I can play enough to bring up, or down, the 5 handicap I have in the computer at my home course.
86, which I'm happy with because I was SO solid with my mid-long irons, and I don't think I've ever had a better day with my driver. Problem was the short game, putting specifically. I managed to three putt five times on the front nine, which makes a 45 sound good. Fixed it on the back, though (I have a belly putter, and was subconsciously moving my body), and didn't have a single three putt, shooting 41 with two water balls. Even those were acceptable, as they came off of horrible kicks on real solid drives. If I can get my game from 100 yards in going, things might not be so bad this summer.
Oh, and I know people said that they'd need a video of me at the range, or actually hitting a ball, before any proper advice could be given, but I think the advice I did get really helped. I stopped swaying (I actually think that might have been a weird fluke), adjusted my grip, and worked quite a bit on balance and tempo. Seriously, can't remember the last time I felt so confident with my irons.
Played for the first time this year today. Shot a wonderful 50 over 9 holes. The highlight was sculling my first bunker shot into the woods to take an 8 on the par 4 3rd hole. I went to the range the day before and thought I had figured out my driver but I kept hooking everything badly.
Brag: Shot an 82 with 6 three putts and one 50 foot snake for an insane par save.
Beat:my umbrella broke, rained for 11 out of the 18 holes and crazy wind all day.
Variance:lost $10 because the guy I was playing was playing out of his mind. I normally give him 2 a side (he usually shoots mid 90s) and he shot an 83. Good luck on him getting that spot next time.
Beat: Second time I've played in the last 6 months, put up two 8s and a 10 to shoot a 93.
Variance: Here's how you make a par. 110 yard par 3. Hit SW tee shot super thin screaming 30 yards past the green. Have ball land on the downslope of the next tee box. Take 60 degree wedge, hit flop shot off a downhill lie onto green 20 ft. from pin. Drain putt for par to win skins. lol
Shot 89 today at Olde Homeplace in Winston-Salem. 68.7/124, 6213 yds.
It was my first decent round of the year (< 99). I love coming to visit my Dad. He always helps me shave a few strokes. He gave me some great short game advice, and it paid off today.
43, with two doubles. Course was pretty short, but a slope of 124, probably because it's pretty narrow. There's a couple of courses like this around here where the course is part of a 55 and older community. I like these courses for a quick nine, as they're usually in pretty good condition for the cost.
I SUCK from 100 yards in. Horrible. I kept hitting my driver because I'm playing out of my mind with it, but I would have felt a lot better hitting a bunch of 130 yards shots than the 90-100 shots I was giving myself.
Today I played from Championship (blue) tees. I shot an 81 @ Terra Lago South Course (AKA 'Landmark' home of PGA skins game 99-02'). 6401 yards, par 72, rating: 71.6, slope: 133.
this was a great round for me. I'm a 12 handicap, and today I was +9.
