Thanks guys!

I didn't mention it because I didn't want to jinx myself, but it was the first day of the Captain's weekend. I had an 8 shot lead over the following pack.

Playing off the same handicap I managed to play as well again until the last few holes when I kind of over-relaxed because I knew nobody could catch me. Plus it was hot and I was knackered after concentrating so hard to get the job done.

23-15-38. Won by 10 points.

Not classed as a major, but will get my name on another board.

45-47-92. No birdies, 7 double bogeys.

Jeez. Just bad. Ball striking was erratic, too many pulls and blocks. Chipping was godawful - just when I thought I was figuring it out today was about as bad as it gets. Putting wasn't terrible but I didn't make much of anything.

last two rounds have been meh. 95 on Saturday when I thought I played "decent." 98 yesterday when I thought I sucked.

Funny aside....my golf partner is a 16 but absolutely blows out of bunkers. He took 7 swings yesterday to get out of a green side bunker. after the 5th attempt I was doubled over in laughter.

Sunday was not good. Started 5 under through 12 and ended up +2.

37 (par 35). No birdies, no double bogeys.

One of the more enjoyable three hour nines I've ever played. Family outing, including one complete beginner and one player who really hasn't touched a club in fifteen years. Didn't tee off until 6:30 and let about five groups play through so it took a while. Relaxed mood led to some fine ball striking. Even have a couple ideas on chipping to work on which is good -- I was pretty much stumped yesterday.

For you older guys, my win last weekend was helped by having this guy in my ear as I played.

I came across his videos a few weeks ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpRKmaCIdk8

I don't hit it that short, but I am now avoiding red light situations!

Younger guys will benefit too.

Mikke - i've seen that vid before and i play with a couple of guys that are a whole lot like Pat (but maybe five or ten years younger). short but always down the middle with woods and hybrids, solid and creative short game, and never seem to three putt. ezpz
should also add they play from the tees that suit their game...not to short but not too long.

We all have to play off the competition tees (white) during the summer competitions at my club.

Any other rounds you are just putting in a casual card in from the yellows with a fellow golfer, or for a roll-up like we have each Wednesday.

I'm going to play my game as Old Man Mike for the rest of the year!

Just realised that we are already 2/3 of the way through the summer season!

39 (par 36). One birdie, no doubles.

A couple wayward drives cost me bogeys and the short range putting was not great. Only had two chips and both were adequate, should have made the putts.

New personal record at my par 72 home course. Got nervous there at the end. 5 birdies 1 eagle 12 pars. 14 gir. 7/14 fairways.
33-32-65 again yesterday. 14/18 GIR, 1 eagle 5 birdies. Lipped out like 3 times on the front 9 where I hit 8 greens (and missed one by 4 inches), left an eagle putt short in the jaws. Burned 3 edges on 10-12, then scrambled for par on 13-15, and finished eagle, birdie, birdie.

Wish I could swing that freely in tournaments, one day maybe.

Think I shot a 30 at my course in boston -6 when I was like 17, but don't remember specifically. I've done 31 on my current course both 9s a few times... haven't ever really managed to cross the psycho low threshold.

It's hard to go low, have to get used to it, and have to get used to doing it in competition too. Feel like the way I've been hitting it I'll shoot a 29 at some point on the front at my course, but really just can't force stuff like that.

if the last three are gettable in your mind, and you played them even, and still shot a course best, then you know in your mind you can go even lower...you just have to let it happen and not force it.
already looking forward to your next career low post on your home course

41 Par 34

Played my first 9 holes since I had to isolate. As I haven’t hit any balls I didn’t know how it was going to go, Was only doing dry drills and was mainly focusing on getting a bit more vertical.

Got on the 1st tee nailed my driver pretty far and seemed to be like that with all my driver tee shots apart from one where I just hit it out of the bottom. Not sure what I’m attributing that to though as I change a few variables.

Changed my ball I play to a Q-Star and changed my driver loft to 8 degrees. Then obviously swinging a bit more vertical. Had a much stronger ball flight rather than it ballooning up in the air.

Pretty happy with today and being the 1st tee time out was really nice not to have anyone in front of us, Wasn’t good for my sleep though 7am tee time I couldn’t sleep until like 4am so basically had 2 hours sleep.

42-40=82

0 birdies, 8 bogeys, 1 double. Got off the tee nicely all day long, but the approach game was pitiful. I even flat out shanked two shots, one of which came within 3 feet of killing my best friend. Only hit 5 GIR. Hot putter saved me throughout, though I had two seemingly perfect birdie putts lip out. Altogether not a bad round.

44-50-94. No birdies, many doubles, 1 triple.

Ball striking was way, way, way off today. Frustrating.

shot 89 yesterday on a wimpy par 70 course.

Today was fun. 44-48-92.

First hole.....pop up drive. 2nd shot is a scud missile that hit the 150 stake and went 60 yards left. WTF. took an 8. 2nd hole. Blade tee shot left and hit a red tee box marker. smoked hybrid and saved par. Hole 8. Hit the pin from 150 out.

if there was an obstacle i was hitting it

40-41-81 on my home course par 70

10 pars, 5 bogeys, 3 doubles

One day I will break 80

38-37-75

4 birdies, 1 double

Was +3 thru 4 so good last 14 holes. Didn't play for $ today so I hit a few more drivers than I normally would. Had a lot of < 70 yard shots into greens... and now I need to start working on 60* wedge distance control on those 1/2 to 3/4 shots.
