37-39-76 par 72

14 pars, 4 bogeys. Solid round altogether but didn't make a putt outside 6' and missed several inside 10'. Bogeyed two par 3's with an 8 & 9 iron, but parred the two I needed 5 iron. The other two bogeys came from the middle of the fairway with short irons in so that was a bit frustrating.

Just wait till it gets warmer, you'll be gaining even more distance

What I really can't wait for is that fitted 6 hybrid to get here

I need to learn to hit a driver so im obv sticking with it but if I was playing to score tomorrow I'd be so much better hitting my 4h off the tee than my driver

Another day, another wind chill. Seriously, this cold with a brisk north wind can be done any time.

Weirdly inconsistent right now. Most drives were excellent, but I had a couple that were straight blocked way off to the right. It didn't cost me, but I couldn't tell you what caused it. Started off horrible, 5 over after 4, but got up and down four times (I think I only hit one green all day) and finished the front nine strong. Back nine featured more reversion to the mean as inconsistent hybrids teamed up with some multi-chip slop and poor putting to produce bad numbers. The only putts of consequence were for bogey or to save double.

Going to have a large handicap at this rate, just in time for warmer weather.

meh.... 47 - 45 - 92 (Par 68)

Round my local course today, Was sort of trying something with my swing worked well for the 1st drive and that's about it. I ended up shanking a lot of my iron shots and I really couldn't stop it.

So I stop thinking about it and just went up and hit the ball. Worked out all right nothing special until I got round to this small 120 yard par 3, Ditch and bunker short OB long. Shanked the tee shot, Played 3 from the tee, Hit it into ditch, Took a drop. Only shot I had was a flop ended up knifing it into OB ... Got up and down from there. So yeah a eventful hole

Need to get on the range with my irons, normally not a problem I hit them fairly consistent but just lacks a distance. Long game was like a 7 out of 10 I'd say off the tee I was never really in much trouble. Could of been a much better score if I sorted the shank out a bit.

lol, i had a bout with the shanks a few years ago. went on for about a round and a half, and it was just constant. i tried teeing off with an empty ball sleeve just outside the ball to try to prevent the extreme OTT swing. all i did was smack the empty sleeve.

the one time i did hit a decent shot was on a par 3. oh i caught it perfect....and watched ball go sailing over green, by a lot. looked down and saw that i had hit 4 iron instead of 7 iron. oops. i was completely mentally shot.

46 46 92. Par 71. Pretty clean but not quite official because of a lost approach that I could have found given more time. Took penalty stroke but whatever.

1 birdie on 491 yard par 5. 8 iron to 8 feet and nailed it.

2 putt tap in par on 165 yard par 3. Drew 4 iron into the wind to 10 feet below the hole.

320 yard par 4 has large central fairway bunker so I hit irons off that tee. Today my 3 iron went 120 yards left found light rough. Drew 2 iron through the chute between the fairway bunker and the left greenside bunker to just short left of the green. Pitch and 5 foot putt for par.

3 iron 7 iron and 2 putts for par from 10 feet on tricky 345 yard par 4 with water on both sides of fairway and all the way up the left side.

2 iron 4 iron to 10 feet on tight 350 yard par 4. Tap in par.

3 putt bogey from 15 feet on 155 yard par 3 after a nice 5 iron into the wind.

Driver 5 iron on 435 yard par 4 18th hole with a back right pin location to 8 feet. Tap in par to finish.

I also made a bunch of 5 to 10 foot bogey or double bogey putts.

So 1 birdie. 5 pars. 4 bogey. 6 doubles. 2 triples. I'm pretty happy with that on a tougher course than I usually play. Lots of trouble here. Thick rough. Crowned greens.

Lost 3 or 4 balls.

Oh and on 450 yard par 4 17th I was pin high but two feet too far left with my 2 iron from 188 into the wind. Found the short side bunker by inches. Got out in 1 shot but I 3 putt for double from 13 feet.

Played with some very nice people today.

I’m not all that worried about it I was messing with my grip a little just think I need like a bucket of balls to figure out. Before that Par 3 I basically had the same shot but on a 3rd shot on a par 4 and stuck it to like 5 feet,

not a long course at 6200, but the Par 3s were 155, 175, 185, and 205 today; combined with three Par 4s over 420. played the first three holes +1, only because i needed two strokes to get out of a greenside bunker on the Par 3 2nd (about an inch of sand on top of hardpan). progressively downhill from there.

The only benefit is i'll be pushing the 78 out the backside of my 20 rounds that are used to calculate my HC a few weeks before our annual 4 day spring trip. guessing my HC will go up a solid 3 strokes.

40-39-79

3 birdies, 2 doubles

Only the second time I have broke 80 since surgery. The swing was still terrible but I found a way to make it work. This was the last day course was open before reno. Managed to 4-putt from about 25 feet. The most tilted green on the course. Hit the first one 3.5 feet by, then sent the next one 12 feet past. Did I mention they were fast!

42-44-86. 1 birdie, 1 double bogey, 1 triple bogey

Sand game could use some serious work. Used a hybrid to chip on the last hole and though I hit it too hard it felt good so I might have to practice that too. Could also learn a golf swing and how to putt but other than that the game is in peak form.

9 holes 42 +6. 5 pars, 3 bogeys, and a dastardly triple on the 9th hole, but perhaps a convenient excuse in that it was getting dark. Would have been a great round scoring-wise if I could erase the triple. Had some fantastic wedges and putts.

The first hole par five had the same approach shot dilemma as always with a good tee shot: go for glory with the 3 wood and try to weave it through a narrow passage between the hill on the left and wide bunker on the right, or just lay up with a 4 iron for a simple wedge shot to get it on in three. It is really hard for me to avoid the bunker, which is where I ended up with the 3 wood from around 245 yards to the pin, and that is not where I wanted to be as I had just practiced sand shots that I hit rather poorly. Fortunately I got out OK and two-putted for par.

I'll wrap up with describing the second hole as it was an interesting one. I smash mega-hooked my drive, but thought I was OK and in the adjacent fairway of hole three, which is separated be a decent span of rough. However, I couldn't find my ball so I just guessed it crossed through the fairway and into the left water hazard of that hole (right from the perspective of people teeing off from it). So I dropped and took penalty and hit back into the correct fairway with 4 iron, but before that I had to wait for three people on that hole to hit their approaches! I hit a fantastic wedge to like 5 feet and sank the putt for an up and down bogey save. If I had found my initial ball it would have been quite the par save!

43 (par 35). 1 birdie, 1 double bogey, 1 triple bogey.

Early part was rough, finished strong. At least it wasn't quite as cold tonight.

I was wiped out before my round yesterday because I went to the gym beforehand, and now I'm wiped out before today's round because I practiced earlier. Dang, I can't catch a break.

45 45 90 (36 35 71) 6500 yards.

Made bogey on first ten holes. Yup. Lol.

Then double bogey, par , double bogey, par , double bogey, par.

Finished with 3 putt bogey from 10 feet in the fringe a foot off the green on 17. Had a chance for par from 20 feet on 18, but I 3 putt for double.

7 fairways. 5 greens.

Best iron of the day was 5 iron draw into the wind to back left pin. Missed 6 foot birdie putt by inches.

Putting has vastly improved past few rounds. Sinking lots inside 10 feet.

Well I was correct that the winning score was -12. We also didn't make any bogeys. We did come close on 2 occasions where we had to make and 8-10 footer.

We ended up -5. Started on a par 5 which I absolutely hate. Was able to hit it in 2 and make the birdie though. Ended up making birdie on 3 of the 4 par 5's. Made a joke out of one of em. Partner went OB so I aimed safely left and had a 60 yard bunker shot for 3rd.

The group in front of us turned out to be *******s. We were playing a par 4 that was 290 uphill and into the breeze. It's a dogleg and the green sits behind a mound so you can see it from the tee. I thought there was zero chance of me getting there. Well I hit a bullet low spinner that apparently landed on the green and rolled into the back trap.

I'm completely calling bull **** on that one as there is no way I FLY it to the green. I apologized to them and it apparently wasn't good enough. I apologized again, still not good enough. They were asking the two that we were playing with who hit it, like they wanted to fight or something????

We got hit into once early in the day. Completely our fault though as it was around a dogleg and we should have sat at the corner until the green cleared. They apologized, no worries.

42 (+6) on a par 36.

Had a disastrous range session today where I was hozzle rocket/shanking a solid 30-35% of my shots. Was signed up to play 9 this afternoon so couldn't skip it and go hit more range balls. Ended up hitting it ok until I had a pretty dry/bare lie with a PW on #9, and hozzle rocketed two in a row, which was pretty embarrassing (took a double on the hole after picking up).

I still have a ton of work to do on my swing. I had one range session earlier this year where for about 40-50 glorious swings, I actually felt like I was close to what a golf swing should feel like, and I just haven't been able to recapture the motion to get there. Need to keep working on my hip placement through the swing, and to stop lashing at it with my hands to allow the club to come from inside to out and shallow, rather than over the top and steep. Work in progress, but it always is.

Dunno if I've ever spent so much time in the sand. At least I'm getting quite good at hitting hybrids out of waste areas, I was more likely to make par from there than from the middle of the fairway. Sprayed a lot of drivers.

I truly suck at downhill stance bunker shots, though.

i have hit absolute rock bottom. i started today pay, quad, quad, par. my shots are either excellent or absolutely god awful. except for the short game where all the shots are god awful.

i didn't bother playing a few holes on the back 9. i did decide to play the last hole. my drive was like a top ten lifetime drive. i'm 95 yards out. i tell my buddy "i literally don't have a club in the bag that i think will work." so i ran one up to 8 feet from the pin.....with a 5 iron.

i think i need hypnosis. i had two times today where i had to hit a punch out. i mean a standard, hey jerk, just hit the ball 40 yards that way. on both occasions i whiffed on the first attempt.

44-43-87. No birdies, several others. 69.2/130/5900 yards. The Lynx GC, Otsego, MI.

Never played this course before. Beautiful piece of property with some really nice holes. Took until about the last 2 holes to start hitting solid shots, just an awful day in all respects. Score is what I'm told I shot, it felt more like 187.

Were the punch outs with bad or awkward lies? A whiff on a strange lie could be not too crazy, but on a decent lie it sounds odd to whiff on a punch out. Usually on a punch out I feel confident about getting decent contact with a short and easy swing as though the mistakes of the full swing don't really factor. However if it's a 3/4 full swing, then I find that to be so difficult I just don't even practice it yet. Also, it seems that you more or less hit a great punch shot with the 5 iron on the 18th hole. So that would be quite the disparity between good and bad!

I have had a mental block like this in the not too distant past. Best thought is to just hit a few of them on the range or throw a ball or two down when you are out on the course.

Was -1 thru 6 which is good considering im coming off of what I consider my second best range session of my life the day before. Then starting pissing away shots around the green on the back 9. Almost back.
