Saturday 37-42-83 - No birdies, 3 doubles

Sunday 36-36-73 - 3 birdies, 1 double

Moved up a set of tees Sunday for confidence purposes. Guess it worked. All 3 birdies were kick-ins.

I don't usually brag about 1 shot but I'm going to today since it's maybe the best shot I've hit in my life....

Hole #15 at Sun City Riverview is about 525 yards and is a dogleg left. I hit my tee shot over the corner... bombed it(for me) and had 235 into the flag. Wind was in our face and blowing left to right hard. I hit a high 3 wood way out to the left and let the wind bring it back. This was the result, and I did make the eagle putt.

Had 3 birdies and 1 eagle today and shot 73(par 72). Best day off the tee I've had in a while.

Last four outings shot 100-100-102-101

The 4H you guys recommended has completely changed my game. My fairway play has been much more consistent and my putting has improved most of the time. My scoring now is much more consistent and legitimate too. When I triple they're legit triples and not me picking up my ball and taking the max score. Today I was +21 with 4 holes to go on a pretty tough course. My goal is to break 100 every time out. On those 4 holes I started triple triple and was basically done. Then doubled 17 but had a beautiful par on 18 to finish it for a 101 so was a feel good day. Also birdied a hole, with a 35 foot putt so not much to complain about. First day of the year with a nice chill in the air and I think I'm gonna love fall/winter golf.

My problem now is getting off the tee. It's such a tricky one because I don't trust myself to work on it on the course. Today was a family foursome and on 2 I tried to do what I worked on on the range and pulled it straight across my body left into water. Then I resorted to my old banana swing where I aim way left to have it land on the middle of the fairway. The difference is so obvious though as I can hit a tee shot then a nice clean hybrid which I can hit ~150 and I'm in the general area of my brother in laws tee shot. I need to go to the range and just hit driver driver driver until I can hit it straight and get all the distance I lose in the banana back

ec...that's incredible

When you hit your 2nd shot did you know you were that close? Or not til you got up to the green? Eagles must feel amazing

Great shot EC! Nice to convert it too.

41-37-78

6 bogeys

Couple pretty average putts but scrambled well. First good score in what seems like forever. My handicap has been steadily creeping out there these last few months.

Driver was a disaster. I left it in the bag for the last 9 holes. Have developed some sort of issue where I Keep. Topping. My driver. So frustrating, as I was hitting the driver great a few weeks ago. Keep teeing it up higher, keep topping it. I am hitting my irons pretty well, but I am starting most holes with what amounts to a penalty shot. No clue what I'm doing wrong. Pretty embarrassing.

Might have been my last round of the year as temps here in NJ are quickly dropping. Hope to get the driver issue sorted out for the spring as I feel like the rest of my game improved this year.

Not looking forward to season end, that's for sure. I kinda regret not playing yesterday though I really did need the day off to just do nothing. So far the next two weekends look to be decent.

Played in Jersey yesterday also (Charleston North) and actually really enjoyed playing in the chilly temps. I'm hoping to play for at least another month or so but as I'm an afternoon golfer during the week I'm more concerned about it getting dark so early cutting into my frequency of playing.

I do definitely need some gloves for my hands though. Do people actually play with warm gloves on? Or no matter what you're taking them off and putting your golf glove on to swing? Other than that I have no issues layering up.

Because the green was slightly elevated and there was a bunker just short of the green I couldn't see the bottom of the flag. I knew it had the potential to be close but I couldn't see it at all until I had gotten all the way up to the green.

I don't know if there was a club twirl but I definitely started walking after it as soon as I hit it. Obviously had no idea it was gonna be *that* good.

I usually don't play with ANY glove, and just flat hate playing in specialized cold weather golf gloves (just too bulky, no feel), so I compromise and when it's cold use my footjoy raingrip gloves. Speaking of cold....

45-41 = 86. It was COLD. We teed off at 8:00 and it was 34 degrees (surprised we didn't have a longer frost delay), and it just barely cracked 40 by the time we finished. I'm just BAD at cold weather golf, but I want to keep playing through the winter, so I guess I need to get better. It was everything: playing stiff, not playing enough club, trouble reading speed. Should have happened earlier, but as we rounded the turn I realized I hadn't hit a single shot to the pin, and was usually way short, so I started hitting one or two clubs more on the back. I was two over on the back through 15, but a nasty double from the sand and a bogey on the last bumped me above 40.

Did score a Cuban from my playing partner, so I had that going for me.....

i also don't care for cold weather specific gloves. i have a right handed version of the glove i typically use and put it on when it's cold enough to make the hands sting. many times that's only on the range until the blood starts circulating. i will sometimes use those disposable handwarmers (hothands) while i'm walking between shots. i also have the mitts you can velcro onto your push cart but i've only used them a few times when it was super nasty out, so that was kind of a silly purchase.

1 eagle, 1 birdie, 3 bogeys

Made par on the first 9 holes. Chunked a chip on 1 where the grain was into me, then holed the next one. 3-putt par on 9.

On the back started bogey, bogey, bogey. Had only 16oy into 13, hit it to 6 feet and made the eagle putt.

Played up a tee today in prep for a ryder cup style event over the weekend with one of my usual groups.

playing up a tee can either be good for the soul or a kick in the nuts, results dependent.

My GHIN is 10.9, but I nearly always play from our "combos" where the tees are up on six of the holes; combo handicap is an 8. It's hard for me to play to an 8 on the combos.

4 birdies, 1 eagle, 1 double

Managed to play the par 5's at -5 which I have never done before. Eagled the same hole as I did Tuesday. Today I had a soft PW from 134 that almost went in for the albatross. Hit the stick on the way by, and it was not going fast either.

I hit the speed slot on the hole, there is a cart path just right and parallel to the fairway that I got one hop on and an extra 50 yards of roll.

Walked an afternoon 9 - 34

4 birdies, 2 bogeys

Left the eagle putt on #1 on the lip. Golf did not suck today.

Playing a 2 round event with my Saturday group over the weekend. 9 holes modified alternate shot, 9 holes fourball, and 18 holes individual match.

Split my matches today. Lost 2 down in alternate shot. Won fourball 3&1.

Me (2 cap) and partner (18.8 cap) vs Opponents of 5 cap and 11 cap. My partner is around 70 years old. We were 1 down on the 6th and I was on with a 20 foot birdie putt. Opponents were just short of green. They putted up to 2 feet and I conceded it. I missed my birdie leaving it 18 inches past the hole. You can guess what happened next.

We got it back to 1 down going into 9. I left partner with 185 into the green, opponents were in bunker 115y out in 2. Partner topped it into same bunker. I hit it on to 25 feet, opponents stick it to a foot. We don't make and lost 2 down.

Partner came alive on the back making a bunch of putts. He received shot on 8 holes. His bogey on 10 was a win, his par on 11 was a win. Got back to even after 13, I made par on both but lost to strokes given. Halve 14. Partner drains a 10 footer for par getting a shot on 15 to go 1 up. He makes a 20 footer from the fringe for par on 16 for net birdie. We both par 17 and opponents both bogey 17 for a 3&1 win.

I had birdie putts on 11,12,14,16,17 and didn't even need to putt any of them.

Singles match tomorrow, I'm giving 7 shots. I play with this guy all the time and it should be a good match.

Didn't feel like I played all that great tbh, but I'll take it. First time ever with 4 birdies in a round, and finally birdied the pesky par 3 12th at my home course for the first time. It's been alluding me thus far!
