there were lots of bogeys between those two holes, and maybe 2 or 3 pars. no birdies.
It's so damn frustrating to start off a round with a double (or worse), and it unfortunately happens to me too often. First hole at my home course is a longish par 4, usually into the wind, with a difficult green. So demoralizing. Second hole is a really short par 4, but with a difficult approach shot and very difficult green (if you're above the cup it's practically impossible to get it to stop); if I already doubled #1, if I don't par or birdie two I feel like the round's over.
Aside....the single most frustrating thing about my club is you can't get out before 8:00 on weekdays, and 7:30 on weekends. Full stop. That's the first time on the tee sheet, and they won't let you sneak on earlier. I used to love getting out before 7:00 and playing 18 holes before work.
