played a 6,000 yd 67.7/124 course on sunday and was lucky to break 100. smooth +13 net.
without trying to count i'd guess it was 6 penalty shots. a few off the tee, at least two as a 'hard right' off the tee on par 3s, a couple from the fairway, etc.
hit 4 GIR and two of those were three putt bogies. happy to have two pars after that mess.
playing the same course this Friday and not sure what to expect. i've already packed my mid-round snack so i've got that going for me.

42 (par 35). No birdies, 1 double bogey.

Unusually happy considering the mediocre score. Put the Eye2s back in the bag and was pretty pleased how they performed, though I only got to hit five full shots with them. Hybrids were good. Two good drives and the rest were adequate. Chipping and putting were subpar.

Forgettable 49 yesterday afternoon.

Decent 42 this morning. Good long game but poor short game. 1 birdie on easiest hole on course. 3 putt double bogey on hardest hole on course. 3 putt triple bogey on 3. 3 putt bogey on par 3 from 35 feet. 3rd bunker shot on 5 came out hot but chipped in for double bogey. Up and down with flop to 6 feet on par 3 6th for bogey. 2 putt par on par 3 7th from 20 feet after leaving birdie putt short. Up and down on 8 to save par with 10 foot putt. Clean 2 putt par from front edge on 9th.

Brag: didn’t lose a ball.

Edit to brag about losing 9 pounds quite fast since starting.

Thanks, playing well. Made double bogey with an eagle putt on my second hole of 36 today after trying to chip it over a really goofy set of ridges to a weird pin, and bladed it up onto a bank lol. Rebounded and shot 4 under from there in in some pretty steady wind.

Played solid enough in the afternoon to secure a win.

Quarters tomorrow morning, semis in afternoon if I win, and 36 friday if I can sneak through the finals. Everyone left is a really good player.

Dirty 41 on par 34.

Started + 5 after a bogey on 1 and double bogey on 2 and 3.

Then birdie, par, par, bogey, par, and an ugly double bogey on 9 where I hit a nice 5 wood center fairway but chunked the approach in the river in front of the green.

Course was really tough this morning. Cold, really windy from 100% the opposite direction as every other day, and super firm/fast greens. Didn't hit my irons well at all, and ran out of steam mentally/physically. Course was a really hard walk and 5 rounds in 4 days took a toll on my 36 year old frame.

Fun tournament though, happy with where I finished.

I wasn't qualified for it, but this should exempt me, so that's helpful. Love commonground.

41-37-78

2 birdies, 2 doubles

After not a great front 9 I was able to concentrate on the back and play much better. Doubled the 18th trying to cut off a little too much yardage.

Edit: Tournament tomorrow. Just a US Am Tour (formerly GC Am Tour). On a course that I like, just never have scored there very well. I'm a better player now so we shall see.

First round is in the books...7 weeks after an AC Separation. 79 (+9) on an easy-ish, but new to me course.

40-39 from the back tees (playing 6000)

The first three holes sum up my round.

#1 370 par 4
Tug my 3-wood a tiny bit, clips trees, kicks back and left into more trees. Punch through a gap, only to hit the last tree...and it kicks back 30 yards. Punch a 6-iron over, chip down a hill and leave it 6-feet short, and miss the putt. Double.

#2 280 par 4
High cut driver to 25-feet and 3-jack for par.

#3 480 par 5
Bang a good driver to 175. Fat a 7-iron downhill to the greenside bunker. Blast out to a foot and kick in a birdie.

That was my only birdie.
3-putted for par twice.

Used 1 ball, but lost a provisional (LOL Me)

Chipped well, drove it pretty well, putted poorly, ironed poorly.

Highlight (other than getting on in 1 and 2, then making par)
Topped a 3-wood on a 370 yard par 4 with a creek running across at 260. Banged a 4-wood from 270 to the front fringe, but couldn't get it in for par.

37-39-76 (+5)

3 birdie, 2 doubles

Finished solo second. Started well making par the first 6 holes including 5 greens. Missed a 10 footer for birdie on 2, 15 feet on 3, 15 feet on 6. Birdied 7 to go 1 under. Had 151 into the 8th with what looked like a flyer lie. Pulled PW, and STILL sailed it 15 yards over the green, leaving me nothing and taking double. Got it trouble around green on 9 but made a 20 footer for bogey.

Par, birdie to start the back. Had 219y to clear the water to get home in 2 on the par 5 12th. Thinned it and was about 2 yards short, ended up making bogey. +2 thru 14. 15 is around 420y dogleg left with OB right and water left. I overcut the driver in the water, then missed the green, made double. 16 I hit a horrid hybrid off the tee in fairway bunker leaving me 199y. Hit a really good 6 but missed the green about 2 feet left, made bogey.

17 is 170y with 10y of green past the pin. Somehow hit an 8 iron over the green on the fly, leaving me with a downhill pitch to an elevated green. Had no lie and couldnt even get the club under it. Played the bladed wedge to roll it up to 20 feet, and lipped out my par putt. Birdied 18 to salvage 2nd.

Overall happy with my play. Putting is always questionable in tournaments for me but I made everything inside of 8 feet today.

44-43-87. No birdies, 3 double bogeys.

Short, old school country club type course with small fast greeens. Two of the doubles were the result of poor sand play -- 2 to escape and not on the green either -- the third a crooked layup into a hazard. Ball striking continues to be inconsistent. Putted decently, it was a pleasure to play on fast, smooth greens for a change.

Super busy with life and work the last two week and for the next two. But had a really awesome range session today - it’s great when you don’t have time to play to get out and just flush the **** out of it for 45 minutes and know it’s still there.

38-43-81. 1 birdie, 3 double bogeys. 71.4/130/6,400 yards

Best round of the season. Got up and down a lot, much better that usual. Tweaked the bag setup a bit, changing drivers and adding a 60 degree wedge in place of the 4 iron.

Also super helpful, I videoed half a dozen drivers before going out and identified a glaring problem that I didn't feel at all.

Unofficial 56-58 par 71.

1 par, 5 bogeys, two tens and a nine on a championship course I’ve never played.

Been having a hard time finding errant drives since I started hitting the driver longer. I don’t see well and I’m bad at maintaining concentration after hitting a bad shot. I look away from the ball for a moment and then it’s gone.

Interestingly, the punch out of the woods shot has improved beyond previous form.
